Slightly glitchy in places.
Unlike...probably most other people, I have nothing more to add to this Section!
Two words: CRAZY FROG. If those words have not already discouraged you from reading the rest of this Review, feel free to read on for what is quite possibly the best bargain game of 2005!
So then, why do I give this game, featuring what is quite possibly the single greatest #1 candidate for the title of "Most Annoying Character Ever" in a public poll, the top score? No, it is not to begin some kind of reign of pure, untold destruction by encouraging people to buy the game and have everyone's Play-Station 2 blasting out The Annoying Thing's voice, causing the entire Planet to descend into some kind of state of musical terror never seen since the 1940's.
Seriously, 16 tracks, 6 game modes, 3 difficulty settings, 3 battle arenas and 9 Characters for fifteen quid is not a bad buy!
The 16 Courses are positively vast, with many of them taking several minutes to finish, no matter how fast you may be capable of going through them. Add to that the large and varied soundtrack, the 9 different Characters, the 3 difficulty settings, and 6 different modes of play, and it's really quite a big game!
The power-ups system is very interesting to me. Coin-like objects are scattered throughout the Courses, and each of these objects gives you 500 additional Power-Up Points upon collection. When you have enough of these Points saved up, the game allows you to select new power-ups from the list, using the L-1 and L-2 buttons to scroll through them, and using the R-1 button to use one of them; R-2 does...let's say something else. For example, while 1,000 Points might enable you to use a Boost or anything less than that, 2,000 may enable you to use the Mortar Cannon and Laser Beam. After using a power-up, the Points are deducted from your total, and the power-up can be used again when your Points are increased to that specific level, or beyond, again.
In conclusion, I really do appreciate this game. As mentioned above, it does have a few minor glitches here and there, but aside from those, I really do enjoy it. Here's hoping we see "Crazy Frog RPG" soon...!
