SUMMARY:
Cold Winter is a new first-person shooter from Swordfish Studios. The game has about the same level of gore as a slaughterhouse and there is plenty of strong language to back up the M for Mature age rating. The game maybe a be a bit simple but it is so fun and you can easily forgive the fact that it is simple.

In Cold Winter you play as a agent named Andrew Sterling. At the start of the game he is locked up in China. Soon enough though, another agent lets you free and helps you escape the prison. The rest of the story is actually pretty boring and cliched. It is quite overwritten too as there are a lot of cutscenes and cinenamatics for you to watch but there is little reason too and it stops the great pace that Cold Winter presents.

FINALLY, PS2 owners have a good FPS. With Cold Winter, Sony finally joins the club that Xbox has been president of for the past 4 years. Cold Winter is a very good first person shooter. Excellent voice acting, great story, terrific cut scenes, good A.I. and characters you actually care about. The music is also very cool. The only draw back is the character models could have been a little bit more detailed.

I know that I am going to have alot of little PS2 fan boys out there pissin' and moanin' at me for saying that the PS2 finally has a good FPS. I can just hear them now, what about Killzone? That was GREAT! Nope, it wasn't, but it was decent. Finally Sony is not only a member of the club, but they know the secret handshake.
