THE GOOD:
  • A variety of cars to race from, each with their own advantages

  • Great multiplayer

    THE BAD:

  • No music in multiplayer

  • Not a great selection of tracks, both music and races

  • Crash mode can cheat at times

    SUMMARY:
Welcome the 4th installment of the Burnout series, Burnout Revenge! The main objective here is to eliminate your competition and come out on top as the best and most aggressive driver of all. To achieve that, you need to advance your way through the 10 different ranks, which range from the ordinary Harmless to the coveted Elite.

When playing for the first time, you start out with your rank at "Harmless", with only a limited selection of cars to choose from, and can only participate in a few races, but as you progress, you'll earn better cars and have more races open for you to take part in.

On the subject of cars, there are some that can only be...

  • THE GOOD:
    . Multiplayer!
. Crashbreaker in Races, Eliminators and
Road Rages makes them way better.
    . Vertical, Signature,
    Revenge and Payback Takedowns
. Short cuts / spare routes
    . The Rating System
    . No more "Crash FM"

    THE BAD:
. Soundtrack: very few good songs
. Crash mode is hard, with the bar and the "tap R2" thing.
. Impossible stuff, like challenges and certain crashes and preview laps etc.
. No signature Takedown in multiplayer.
. The Rating System (at times)

    SUMMARY:
I reckon the past 2 Burnout games have been great. Takedown was just awesome but Revenge was different in some good and some bad ways. But...there are always 2 main things in Burnout: Crashes and Races:

Crashes in Takedown involved the icons: X2, X4, Crashbreaker, bronze $, silver $, gold $ and the dreaded "Heartbreaker", which most people found...

Burnout is back and still manages to improve over the excellent Burnout Takedown. It's an arcade game not a simulator so don't expect any realistic handling like in Gran Turismo. Instead this game opts for a more fun and enjoyable approach to racing. Graphic wise this game exceeds beyond all expectations. Crashes, explosions, body parts and tracks all look excellent with little to no frame rate problems.

The aim of the game is to WIN at all costs. This means driving as aggressively as you can. The game actually encourages you to drive dangerous. The more dangerous you drive the bigger your boost bar gets which in turn makes you go faster which makes winning a race a lot easier. There are loads of ways to gain boost, the most common are:

    - Driving on the wrong side of the road.
    - Getting a near miss with traffic.
    - Drifting around corners
    - Jumping ramps.
    - Ramming rivals
    - Tailgating
    - Checking traffic

    THE GOOD:
  • More destruction the Burnout 3
  • Crashbreaker in races

    THE BAD:

  • Menu is less easy to use then B3's
  • Unlocking cars seems random

    SUMMARY:
    First things first...

  • Did you like Burnout 3?
Then I really recommend getting this.
  • Did you prefer B2 over B3?
      Don't bother getting this then.

Basically it's as easy as that. Burnout extends beyond Burnout 3 Takedown. There are a few things added to keep the franchise fresh, like 'Traffic Checking' and 'Crashbreaker Races'.

Traffic Checking can be performed on the small vehicles heading for the same direction. Checking means you can hit them, slamming them against other traffic or into an opponent (Bodycheck Takedown). This is a neat little feature, but makes the game a little bit less difficult then...
