Get yo' freak on! Suck some blood! Pull those levers! | 4.4 0 comments |

THE GOOD: Nice story, great maps, awesome character, (heh, nice attitude too), and of course, the power to rip a nazi to shreds. Who wouldn't want that?THE BAD: Animations are a bit buggy, and guns dont seem to shoot where you want them to, even in first person aiming. Also, Rayne doesn't get nekked! (j\k) SUMMARY: Okeedoke. Story is, Rayne is a vampire half breed who is lookin' to kill her evil dad. (who happens to ba a nazi)
She goes around Europe slaying evils while on Pop's trail, when a secret society recruits her on a mission to stop an evil god, referred to pretty much as something equivalent to Satan, from being resurrected by the Nazis, who her father happens to be helping.
Enter the chick with the body, the guns, and the blades. Ass kickin' her way from shady Louisiana Bayou territory, all the way to German Castles and what not, Rayne slays and gathers info as she gets closer and closer to stopping the evil superdemon god thing. (known as Beliar)
Good graphics, not great, but not bad either. Good amount of gruesome gore (limbs, peices of heads, everything goes flyin' in the air), and a few appearances of the F word as well. Did I mention the red hot leading lady?
Anyhow, gameplay is decent, though it has a slight learning curve to those that are not used to 3rd person games with a first person control style, but this is also customizable in the options menu. Music is okay, if you go for the generic vampire movie techno soundtrack (it plays really low, so it's never overpowering), and sound effects are pretty average. Guns don't last very long in the game, Rayne doesn't actually use them as primary weapons anyhow. She don't go collectin' ammo boxes and cappin' heads, savoring every bullet, it's more like, see a gun on the floor, pick it up, empty the magazine into any nearby enemy, toss gun away, in about 5 seconds.
Fast combat, you'll get used to it. In other words, Rayne goes through guns as fast as Niagra can Fall. Her blades are her main weapon of slayage, and they get the job done more efficiently. Nuff about that'. More onto vampire powers.
Animations are also a bit, bleh sometimes. Whoever programmed the animations must be flat average with tha skillz. Rayne may appear to do a dropkick, and stand back on her own two feet with no sign of momentum, going back to standard rigid pose in less than a millisecond during a combo. Stuff like that may be somewhat annoying, but later in the game more enemies hound you at once, so you really won't be paying too much attention to how Rayne moves, and more about where the next enemy is coming from.
Rayne can jump, go bloodlust crazy (which is like berserker mode, where she can literally rip an enemy into 40 peices before their parts hit the ground), can go into bullet time, and see very far away< powers you obtain the further you procede into the game.
All in all, I'd say it's worth 50 bucks, and now that it's only 20, I'd say get it if you're even remotely interested. It's a keeper, and the sequel which is currently in the works looks like it wants to blow the lid off this one. |

THE GOOD: A great and very addictive game.If you hear someone saying its boring or easy- its none of those. It has a story, it kept me interested all the way through till I finally finished! A great variation of killing methods: harpoon attack, bloodrage: which makes killing really easy,guns,grenades....and my favourite...feeding.This always brings your health back up. there were also a variation of places and characters: bats, vampires, werewolfs, nazis etc...THE BAD: Not the best graphics I've seen and you hardly ever get to see Raynes face! There are a few cinimatics which are really cool...but not enough of them. Some levels were extremely difficult but you can always use god mode. SUMMARY: I reccomend this game to anyone.I love the whole story...that is, Rayne being half vampire, half human so shes extremely powerfulul but withought all the weaknesses of a vampire.Water is still a problem and if you stay in there long enough you will die. Rayne works for the Brimstone society, ridding the normal world of things that humans shouldn't have to deal with.At the end of the game is a huge fight which took me quite a few tries to complete...but this game was GOOD! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Willow~Vampire~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ |

This game for me personally is just awesome!! Why you ask? Well I'm a World War II buff and our heroine fights the Nazi's during the war. And there is plenty of gore and blood for those of you who enjoy that sort of thing. And Rayne is not hard on the eyes, if you know what I mean. I love all horror games and Bloodrayne is just perfect to me. The graphics look very well done (If it's anything over PS1 standards it's sweet to me). The levels are not too difficult, except a few towards the end where you use a Mech robot to fight several other Mechs. That took some time to do correctly. And the fact that Rayne is half human, half vampire is a great storyline for the game. Her only weakness is water, which you come across in a few of the games levels. And when she's low on energy, just find a victim somewhere and feed! But if you don't need energy then you can take your anger out on those enemies on screen and watch the body parts go flying! Oh, and case you didn't know. There are talks about a BloodRayne movie. I'll be watching that! Presentation From start to finish, the game has plenty of action. You are either fighting some zombie looking creatures, Nazis, or zombie Nazis. Some levels require you to think before going into. Which is fun, instead of just running around and killing whoever you see. And the boss battles are very challenging. 10/10 Graphics Like I said before, if it looks better than the PS1, I'm happy. I'm an old gamer who grew up on the Atari 2600. So if the person isn't drawn like a stick figure (Superman Atari game, for those older gamers who have played it) I'm a happy guy. And with all the blood, and graphic violence I really can't complain about this game. It's a game that I wished about for several years. And I'm glad that more horror games are coming out on the PS2, and hopefully on the PS3 in the near future. 10/10 Sound The music really works on the game. It sets up mood for danger, or for killing your enemies. And I laugh when Rayne makes a comment about her victim or when the victim is half dead and trying to escape from Rayne. Most horror games have great music for mood and BloodRayne is one of them. 10/10 Gameplay Blood, body parts, and language! Everything a horror games needs and this one has it all. I never once was bored with watching Rayne chopping up some poor Nazi soldier. Or watching a kill in slow motion while the other soldiers tried desperately to kill me. I love horror games too much I guess. There are plenty of levels to finish, but you could probably finish this within a rental. 10/10 Lasting Appeal After finishing the game once, there wasn't any real replay to it. Unless you played around with the in game codes, which are fun to mess with. But since I love horror games, I waited a month and played it all over again. And in 2004, BloodRayne 2 will be out. I can't wait!! 10/10 |

THE GOOD: Character design, multiple sight modes, brutal fighting style, superhuman abilities.THE BAD: Blocky control, unemotive voice acting. SUMMARY: BloodRayne is an absolute guilty delight for any action/adventure platform gamer. Slaughtering every living (and non-living) thing in sight was never this much fun. You play a half-vampire, who runs around fighting everything from zombies to nazis, all in the pursuit of the truth.
First, you've got superbly detailed character development, creating one of the most enjoyable playable action heroes in the history of the Playstation and Playstation 2. Rayne is sexy, sassy, and scary all at the same time.
Second, you've got a large range of attack styles going from handguns and rocket launchers to acrobatic bladesmanship and a vicious feeding technique, where Rayne actually straddles her victim and sucks their blood, and while she's doing this she can also use their body to block bullets.
Third, the multiple sight modes make the game a lot more entertaining, especially Dilated Vision; which allows for slow motion bullet-dodging. The only fault I can see in this game is the dodgy control and motion which makes Rayne seem less realistic, and the completely apathetic monotone she carries throughout the cut scenes. Other than those tiny hang-ups, this game is sure to be enjoyable for most gamers. |

Most people probably think this is some crappy game. To look at the cover you say, it tries to get by on the "T&A" factor. This game is pretty damn cool though. It has a nice way of getting past the health problem. Most games you get shot by a bazooka, put on a bandage and you're fine. That's crap. Here you find you're low in health you have to drink blood from an opponent. You can still take damage while feeding, so you can use your victim as a shield as well.
It has an interesting story, and a variety of interesting bosses. I played on normal and found myself wishing I'd gone with easy instead. It isn't hard all the time, but there are times you'll think it's impossible to beat something, then when you do you feel good. It doesn't have the boring repetetive play of most games like it. I'd say it even has a Metal Gear feel to it at times.
Maybe not a true 5, but higher than a 4. Give it a shot. |

| I love the game already, even though I only got it about a week ago. I love these types of games. It's action packed, and full of slaying. It remindes me of Buffy for XBox in someways, but I seem to like Buffy better...but aanyways, I'd get the game to have fun, and to be up for a good fight. One of the best parts of the game probably has to be the fact that you get to feed and not have to worry about having to kill the person to do so. I find this to be the best attack weapon, not that I'm saying the guns aren't an added bonus or anything. If you want a game that's going to keep you guessing as to what is coming up next, this is the game. This is the game for the Role Player type, and the thriller type. |

BloodRayne kicks a$$!!! | 4.5 0 comments |

THE GOOD: Cool character, fun ways to kill enemies... Interesting backgrounds, and movies.THE BAD: limited moves/attacks, Rayne repeats herself while making smart comments after killing enemies SUMMARY: I love the way she looks, the game is fun, and I like the attacks she has, especially when she goes into a bloodrage. I like the way she can tightrope, and how agile she is, as I like to explore the levels even in places I am not meant to go to. She reminds me of Lara Croft turned into a vampire.I like the way she jumps on her victims to drain their blood. I do wish she had more moves, like in Tomb Raider/Lara Croft or Gabe of Syphon Filter. It would also be fun if Rayne could climb walls- maybe in the sequel. There are a lot of places where I get stuck- that can be annoying. Some of the bosses are so hard I don't know how you can get past them without using the cheats. |
