Ace Combat 04 Shattered Skies | 3.8 0 comments |

THE GOOD: Exciting, very entertaining.THE BAD: Bad story line, graphics could use some fine tuning. SUMMARY: This game is in my opinion the best flight sim on any console to date. It has plenty of different fun aircraft with different abilities. The plot is not horrible, but it didn't really appeal to me that much. And the graphics are alright except when close to the ground, then it gets very undetailed. At some times the view can get frustrating when trying to shoot down and enemy, but overall it isn't too bad. The missions are re-playable so you can hunt down new aircraft and beat your scores or just mess around. A great game for hours of play and plenty of exciting missions to play and find new secret aircraft. I would highly recommend this game to anyone looking for a fun console flight sim. Actually I'd recommend this to anyone. |

THE GOOD: I think that the game is fun, and that it is for everyone. I like the storyline and the challange. The graphics are very realistic. I like the game because it is fun and has some quality dogfighting in it.THE BAD: Let's take it from the top. First, I would like to fly the MiG 21. Second, they should improve the ground better. In the recent game Lethal Skies II, you could fly in free flight mode and still shoot buildings down with your cannon. Speaking of which, the cannon is way to weak cannons are supposed to be powerful. I want different cockpit emplacents of the cockpit mode for each aircraft. I want infantry on the ground, like in Star Wars: Jedi Fighter. I want the bombs, missles, and cannon shells to make holes in the ground or to kick up sand in the dessert missions. They did something similar in N 64 game 007: Goldeneye where everytime you would shoot somthing bullet holes would appear in the walls, ceilings, and floors. I want recked tanks and vehicles when bonbs hit them. Most of all, I want to have a way to not only communicate to my squadron, but also to command them. When either one of us shoots something down the flight, squadron, or wing gets the points. That is what the Air Force teaches us. This game makes it so that the pilot becomes brash and headstrong. They should had set commands that you can press a button and it will send that command. Something like, "Filght, attack this target!" or "Flight, cover me!" or "Flight, protect this target while take care of the primary misson!" or "Flight, report in" or "Flight, form up! and "Flight, break!". I wish Namco could and would hear this because I would pay a lot of money for a game that can do all that. SUMMARY: I am repeating myself here because, otherwise, no one will read it.

THE GOOD: The good: Eveything, the missions, the planes, the weapons, graphics, sound track, sound effects the detail is amazing!THE BAD: The Bad: The only bad thing about this game that It isn't online (this came out before the net adaptor) and the aircraft taking off don't have wheels, but WHO cares about that anyway? SUMMARY: This is BY FAR the best flight simulator I've ever played. When Ace Comabt 05: Project Aces comes out online, It'll be the best online game yet! The only diffuculty where the game is actually hard is on Ace diffuculty because It is more realistic in some ways than any other diffuculty, like you die from one shot, not two, the AI is a helluva lot smarter so they'll pull some moves when you don't expect it. <br>I would like online capatibility, more planes(not really needed) more weapons to select from on each plane, at least 20 online maps (kinda greedy, oh well) and if possible, the option to plaint your plane the way you want it (paint kit on computer through usb to ps2 or even just on the ps2). None of that I need, but It would kill any other flight sim that came out then. |

To close for missle's, switching to guns | 5.0 0 comments |

THE GOOD: Uh, about everything is good, amazing graphics, sounds, replay value, everything. The planes look fantastic but don't always operate like a real plane should.THE BAD: This isn't a flight sim. Not really a bad thing but it could be based on what you're looking for. SUMMARY: This game is somewhat similar to the old Afterburner games that were on Sega. The game has extremely good graphics, the land areas look especially good as do the enemy planes, ground troops etc... The music is good and fits the mood of the levels you're playing. For example, the final mission has a classical music piece, a dark opereta that forshadows the destruction of the enemy super weapon.
Like I said above, this isn't a flight sim. The F-14 can carry a payload of 8 missiles, in this game the F-14 carries 64 regular missiles and any number of secondary missles/bombs. There are no blackouts, redouts, or whiteouts, meaning you can do hard mach 1 turns. There are no flame outs or engine failures. '
There is a selection of 18 fighters and a secret one that has to be unlocked.
This game is extremely fun, the missions are great (all 18), the graphics rock, and if you get tired of it, play a friend in the 2 player mode. |

The legend that Ace Combat and Namco stared live on in Ace Combat 4: Shattered Skies. | 5.0 0 comments |
by Raijin1999 from HELL, MI, USA | May 2, 2003 |
THE GOOD: Graphics, Sounds, Has a story, Gameplay is fast paced and easyTHE BAD: Don't expect a flight sim game with details like flatspins, realistic payloads, and that sort of thing. The Ace series takes jets, puts players in them, gives them 50 missiles, and tells you to blow *bleepity bleep, bleepy bleep* up. SUMMARY: Ace Combat 4 is an arcade flight game. Quick handling, quick speeding, quick breaking, in the blink of an eye. Seek and destroy, run out of ammo? Return to base, re-arm/fuel, and head back out and kick some more enemy *bleepity bleep*! The graphics are enough to put Gran Turismo to shame. Not too much though, but better. Great sound effects, a clean flight engine (at least its decent for a non realistic flier game), and a great anime sequence story, from the point of view of an orphaned boy who experiences the war whole heartedly from the ground, from start to finish. You can also go free flight, to do missions you already completed, or to just fly around them, enemy free. Thar's plenty good enemy AI, for all y'all critics out thar.
If you want to bomb shiznit, blow up jet shiznit, and would just like to fly around in kickarse jets, this game is for you. It's a greatest hit now in the PS2 titles, so it's definitely worth 20 bucks. |

Best air combat game out there | 4.9 0 comments |
by Mind_Job from Chicago, IL, USA | Apr 30, 2003 |
THE GOOD: great graphics superb play controlTHE BAD: cheesy story line SUMMARY: This is an incredible game. I wasn't too sure about buying it because the pictures on the back of the game box were pretty sketchy. If you're looking for a true flight-sim game, this probably isn't for you. However, if you're looking for a fun air combat game, because it's a "greatest hits" title, you can't beat it for $20. The controls for the game are fairly simple, and require very little time to get accustomed to. The missions vary betweeen pure air-to-air dog fights, air-to-ground bombing runs, and combinations of the two. The AI of the enemy planes is really cool, as you can watch the bandits work together... one baiting while another swings around on your six. I've played this game for hours and hours since I've bought it and I'm still hooked. Being able to buy new planes increases the re-playability factor, as does the one-on-one two-player function. All in all, a great game. |

THE GOOD: Perfect control and graphics almost to much graphics. lots of planes with kick butt special weapons. Lots of dificuly settings so you can play it 6-8 times before you are truely repeating anything.THE BAD: 100+ missles you can kill alot of targets in one mission so no kills are very memorable. only 18 missions not enough to keep me busy for to long but I kick butt it may take you longer. SUMMARY: If you don't own a flight sim this is the one to get and if you are a flight simmer you better already have it.
My name is Sean, and I'm a Flight Simmer |

One of the best games ever | 4.6 0 comments |
by Alec Towne from $#@!, NY, G.W.B. Land! | Feb 24, 2003 |
THE GOOD: You have 18 different planes to fly, 18 missions and a very clever pilot. The missions are very detailed and the enemy aircraft, they can dodge what you give them. You have missiles, guns, and bombs to destroy the enemies.SUMMARY: You'll never regret buying Ace Combat 04.It's the BEST flying game ever. Plus, it's the best in the 4 game series. You are Mobius 1 an ace flyer who, at the beginning of the game was a rookie flyer. He has 100 and more allies. Who you meet in the 18 missions and there's more than 200 enemies to beat up! |

THE GOOD: Graphics, gameplay, number of aircraft, targeting, different player views, missile views etcTHE BAD: explosions, replay camera angles. SUMMARY: This is an excellent game with a fantastic game engine lots of aircraft and great fun for would be pilots. Graphics are awsome. Replay of each mission is fun though the camera angles are not the best. Game is virtually perfevt except for the explosions which could be a little better. |
