Soul Calibur 2 was the first Soul Calibur to be released after the fall of the Dreamcast. Many would say that Soul Calibur died with the Dreamcast, but they might be thinking of Sonic, because Soul Calibur isn't dead yet (though there is one crappy spin-off game on the Wii). Judging by the reviews and responses from gamers and gaming sites, Soul Calibut 2 shows that the series won't be dying anytime soon.

Tekken, Mortal Kombat, Street Fighter, Super Smash Bros. All are superb fighting titles that have raked in plenty of cash for their consoles including Mortal Kombat and Street Fighter that also made flash appearances on the old consoles such as the SNES and some even going on to being installed in video game arcade centres. Street Fighter may be the fighter that has held out longest, Tekken may have had a runaway victory upon the dawn of the Playstation saga, Mortal Kombat may be by far the most brutal and Smash Bros. the cutest, there is one fighter that just about manages to squeeze out of the tight crevice of competition and ascends to the fighting throne. THE GOOD:
Large difference in characters. Each character has his/her own unique moves. Gameplay is remarkable. Two-player cannot be beat because it's so good. Large variety of moves for each character. Above average graphics. Sound is fullfilling (nothing like hearing the smack of a spear against someone's head).

THE BAD:
Would be nice to see a larger quanity of selectable characters. Single-player is average... would've been good if single-player was improved. Would of personally liked to see some more blood instead of glowing stuff in place of it.

SUMMARY:
Soul Calibur II definitely deserves to be bought. It is an ultimate fighting video game and the gameplay is astounding. Two-player is astonishing and never gets old. The think that ruined this game was heihachi.
I liked the idea of guest characters for each platform but PS2 got jipped.
Cervantes and Nightmare are total over kill.
If you hit forward forward triangle then they become even more cheap.
They artwork that you could unlock was very excellent the character profiles were in-depth and interesting.
Many of the weapons were useless and sacrificed to many things just to even them out.

THE GOOD:
-Graphics are great! Much more decent than other fighting games.
-Lots of weapons to choose from, and in which they all have individual style or perhaps a history to... Very interesting designs to boot.
-Interesting (sometimes odd) character designs. Whilst a few are good to laugh at.
-Addictive game which can last for weeks. (Only if you like fighting games with an edge and a long storyline)

THE BAD:
-Needs cut-scenes. Text can go kinda' fast if you're a slow reader like moi.
-One-liners are corny and thus makes me cringe.
-Girl characters' voices can really put you off... Not to mention kinky costumes to boot.

When one says Soul Caliber there are a few things that you think of. The king of fighting games, well this is its sequil. Maby not as good but only a hair off. This game has perfect replay, and is worth playing a month from now. The charicters are many, so feel free to pick and chose. If you dont like that persons wepon. Just simply go to wepon master. Brilliant gameplay, beautifully rendered and smooth flowing graphics. Huge variety of characters, weapons and arenas.

THE BAD:
Variety of characters and individual moves mean that you'll need to spend a long time practising to be able to consider yourself an expert. Still very easy to pick up and enjoy after learning even a couple of moves though!

SUMMARY:
Soul Calibur II follows on from the brilliant Dreamcast and Arcade game Soul Calibur, and previously, Soul Blade. The game has been developed into and even smoother experience with a greater variety of characters, weapons and arenas.

The game is very easy to pick up and play, either against a friend, against the computer in arcade mode or in the epic story section "Weapon Master". This doesn't mean that the game is simple though, it takes many hours of using a character to be able to consider yourself an expert, and then you've got plenty others...
