Before you set your flight plan you could be brief with weather Briefer. Thermals condition could be added in the weather input screen for your glider. You could simulate your aircraft failure manually or randomly when least expects it. X-Plane is totally customable with Plane-Maker, World-Maker, Part-Maker included on the DVD. There are free upgrades from the developer web site.
