Uru: Ages Beyond Myst

SUMMARY:
When I first got Uru, I popped it into my computer and ran the installation. Very soon, I got an error because a file was missing on the cd. It wasn't until several years later that I actually got to play it. It was definitely worth it. This game is amazing. It has the most content in any Myst game ever. The puzzles are challenging as ever. And just like any Myst game, there are wondrous ages to explore and solve. However, this game is not like the other Myst games in several ways. This is the first Myst game to be rendered in real-time 3D. It is also the first and only Myst game that is in third person. Or at least can be. The first thing that stands out is the graphics. So that will be the first item.

THE GOOD:

Character control is a bit awkward at the very beginning.

SUMMARY:
Like the Myst games before it, Uru pioneers the newest technological advancements in world design and gaming graphics and sound. The first thing anyone will notice about Uru is that the scenery is uncannily realistic. And then as you start walking around, your ears will pick up the slightest hints of your surrounding environment, so subtle and natural that they draw you fully into the gaming experience.

And then, the classic Myst storyline starts to unfold. I've been playing Myst for years, and the concept of books linking to various lost Ages has never grown old, especially because the developers always manage to bring a fresh feel to the idea while also staying loyal to the adventurous spirit that makes Myst a unique series.

This is definately one of the best games I've EVER played. It has simply _incredible_ graphics. The previous Myst titles were amazing on their own, but this one is FULL 3D and incredible at the same time. The myst-style adventuring is still intact, if not better than before. The only downside is that you'll get hooked and will spend all of your time playing it. The online aspect only multiplies the fun factor. New ages to explore, actual missions to go on, it's just too much fun for one lifetime. Just take a look at a few of the screenshots if you don't believe me. Also you can customize your character's appearance so you can look like yourself, or at least what you want people to think you look like. You can collect bonus items of clothing to customize your character even further, although some intense exploring is required for them.
