THE GOOD: Great Game Its got pretty good graphics great zooming and so many different cheats you can tilt the game any way you want good or bad making it harder or easier in mucho macho you get a free Guide
THE BAD: Very old
SUMMARY: This game is very old but still great. Why am i giving a review when no one cares to see it? I dont know. I would suggest you get the Mucho Macho edition if you really like it you can go to http://www.strategyplanet.com/tropico/ Its a site devoted to this game
This game takes place on a tiny island near cuba starting at 1950 for as long as you can stay in power as the dictator (for me the longest was 2389)
Build an ecenomy- Base your ecenomy on farming and resource gathering to one of many industries to a 100% tourtrist Island
Politics- Please the Communists and Russians or the Capitalists and Americans (this is due to the solviet period that the game starts in)
Keep your people happy or make them hate you- You can build houses and condos and pay your people well above the carribbean average or force the rich doctors and bankers to like in shacks and get under the carribbean average or settle somewhere in the middle
Please look in the cheats section for a complete list of cheats for this game to be there as soon as neoseeker puts it in their database
THE GOOD: Tropico seems to have some significant entertainment value- if you can get past the bugs.
THE BAD: The bugs are just too pervasive
SUMMARY: Here's the recipe for killing the fun in a new game:
Start with a VXD error screen (requires patch 1.03 to fix) at the initial install. Add repeated unexplained drop outs during game play. Stir in a kludged user interface (not always user friendly), a load and save problem, and some sometimes quirky graphics and you have a product which should have spent about another six weeks in development. Its name- Tropico.
Tropico has a lot going for it...after all, who wouldn't want to be dictator of his or her own little island paradise. The concept loses a lot in the implementation, however. After trying, unsuccessfully, to get this program to run on my lowly Dell PIII (1 G processor and all kinds of goodies-making it way overpowered for the application), my level of frustration way exceeded any entertainment value this game would have.
THE GOOD: The Good - Has great graphics and is fun (if you like sims)
THE BAD: The Bad - Has a few bugs including: you often have to click on an object repeatedly. When you town gets huge...graphics get a little choppy (even on a fast P3 600 htz and up) and slows up playability. Game is hard if manual is not thoroughly read.
SUMMARY: Was excited about purchasing the game. Wasn't as excited 10 minutes after playing, but still impressed with the overall idea and the fact that the developers when into such specific detail...like even naming the goats!
THE GOOD: Good for the person who wants to see a bunch of spanish people be happy. GRAPHICS ARE AWESOME!!
THE BAD: Bad for the people who dont like being told what to do or have no patience. HARD DRIVE SPACE!!
SUMMARY: I really liked how this game was designed. I give it a 4.9 because of all the space it uses up on your hard drive. But i must say they did an awesoms job on the Graphics. This game can not be explained in words, it is unbelieveable, go and buy it and you'll see what i mean
