Trainz

Trainz is a train simulator that lets you take control of one of many trains from many countries including Britain, the U.S.A., Italy, Germany, and Japan. Pick your cars, pick your loco, pick your location and weather, and away you go...

The Graphics in Trainz are good, though a lot of the time it tends to be night time when you hit the rails. Rain is a little too thick so when it is raining, sometimes, you can't make out where you are going. Menus have good Illustrations and surrounding scenery is brought to life thoughtfully.
Steam and Smoke from steam engines is realistic and if the weather is windy, it blows in the right direction. Hills in the distance seem to be unreal, which highlight the fact that it is a game and not real life.

Sound is very precise. When a train passes over joins in the rails, the clicking noise is just like the real thing. Diesel and electric locos make purring sounds and steam engines make puffing sounds....
