"If you think Total Annihilation's still the cat's pajamas, look no further than Supreme Commander. It's the ID4 of videogames -- a little sleepy early on, occasionally a little baffling, but incontrovertibly epic...and you're here as much for the light show anyway, right?"
"The overwhelming sense from SupComm (apart from the need to sleep for a week after a bout of it) is that its design brief was mega-war first, player sympathy second. The mega-war it gets absolutely right, but this is an RTS that could have bagged itself a 10 if it had reigned itself in a little, had tweaked its flow just enough so that there wasn't quite so much exhausting struggle. For all its grandeur, it'll simply feel too much like hard work for anyone who wasn't already sold on the concept - a timeless classic should have more universal appeal. It's a triumphant achievement nevertheless, a just reward for anyone who's ever lost their heart to an RTS - a love letter to the fans."

"These problems aside, Supreme Commander is an incredibly fun RTS. The massive tactical scale, the zoom function, the mega units and even the nostalgic resemblance to Total Annihilation make this game a must-have for RTS fans."

"If there's anything we're really concerned about with this game, it's the unit pathfinding. It's not that units get lost, but in groups of several hundred they have some surprisingly inefficient routes for getting where they're going. This is especially true of naval units, which for some reason require a notably large berth to move. Confused units can be successfully maneuvered by selecting pieces of the whole and moving them individually, but it'd be nice to see the large masses of units move around as an intelligent, cohesive whole. Regardless, this game's been fun so far, though more so in the Skirmish mode than any of the Campaigns."
