THE GOOD: Awsome graphics, great music, A wide selection of choices you can make to create your own destiny.
THE BAD: I would have liked to see better battle damage to the ships, like holes in the side of the ship, or water leaking from a severe rupture in the hull. A few annoying bugs.(That can be fixed with the latest patch. Money is scarce in the first part of the game.(You have to be Mr. nice guy for the first part of the game!!!!!!!!)
SUMMARY: All in all, an awesome game with a few bug problems. But a great game none the less. It kept me glued to the monitor for many hours. Looking forward to Sea Dogs 2.(Hopefully!!!!!). Keep up the good work.
SUMMARY: This game is probably the best pirate games i have ever seen. The attention to detail is great. The sounds make it seem real, and the graphics make this game a keeper.
The plot however is somewhat different then what you would expect from a pirate game. A pirate normally doesn't sail around trying to find his father. Plus the bugs are annoying so I hope they are patched up soon.
SUMMARY: I've owned Pirates, Pirates Gold, and now Sea Dogs. Pirates is more realistic in the sense of Era's and geography, Sea Dogs has lots of Boats to choose from. I think the ultimate goal of Pirates is more realistic in the sense that people went into privateering to get rich, not to find relatives. Sea Dogs would be better if it were more geographically accurate. The bugs in the game I'm sure will be fixed over time, but as of now(v 1.04) are quite horrendous.
SUMMARY: Make no mistake: this game is beautiful. Seagulls swirling around the bay, insects buzzing around outdoor lamps, nice lighting/shadow. But if you're looking for a deep, interesting RPG look elsewhere. When approached, NPCs spout one line of audio dialogue and then you're relegated to a dull text conversation, a la Diablo. Very disappointing. I'd hoped that after Redguard BethSoft would move again towards the depth of Daggerfall, but I guess we'll have to wait for Morrowind (I hope). All in all, for me at least, a waste $40.
