"More of an expansion pack then a sequel, this game will disappoint some fans, while the new rides, stalls, and editors will please new and devoted "RollerCoaster Tycoon" fans."

"The basic idea of the original game has been expanded by introducing more new possibilities (coaster and scenario editors, new coasters, etc.), while still retaining all of the original's good … and bad features."
"In recent years, so-called 'tycoon' games have become something of a byword for mediocrity, with the genre extrapolated to cover the most unlikely of subject matters. We've been bombarded with the likes of Zoo Tycoon, Moon Tycoon, Hotel Giant, Beach Life, not to mention the little-known classic, Chip Shop Manager. Derivative nonsense in the main, but one title stands out from the dross, namely the original RollerCoaster Tycoon. Despite being little more than a thinly-veiled homage to Theme Park - arguably the game that started it all - Chris Sawyer's quirky big dipper 'em up proved a worldwide hit with five million copies being sold."

"I don’t know why they released this game and called it Rollercoaster Tycoon 2. Did they think that by naming it Rollercoaster Tycoon 2, as opposed to Rollercoaster Tycoon V1.3.4c, that it would sell better? It’s a mystery wrapped in a riddle wrapped in an enigma wrapped in a corn tortilla."
"This sequel to the breakout hit of 1999 is hardly a sequel at all. The engine feels the same, the graphics look the same, the gameplay is the same…get the idea? At least the original was so good that it’s still fun, but this park could use some renovations."
