"Rage of Mages II is a lot of fun for a little while, but all the niggling annoyances start to pile up over time, and the gameplay isn't compelling enough to overcome them."

"Rage of Mages II: Necromancer is a game that manages to succeed through its combination of good gameplay and charm. This hybrid role-playing and real-time strategy game won't make you forget about Baldur's Gate or Command & Conquer: Tiberian Sun, but, for what it is, Necromancer manages to be compelling, exciting, and a whole lot of fun."

"RoM2 is worth your while if you want some quick “RPG lit" action until Diablo 2 comes out, but in the end it doesn’t really improve upon the original in any major way."

"Rage of Mages II: Necromancer has the potential to be a quirky, fun and engrossing game. But it isn't there yet. Two major problems must be solved before I would recommend this as a purchase: the save game method needs a patch to correctly save all aspects of the game so that players may truly restart where they saved; and the multiplayer server list or matchmaking service promised by Monolith needs to be fully working. Without either of these, both aspects of Necromancer, single-player and multiplayer, lack what is needed for enjoyable, long-lasting play."
