THE GOOD:
~kind of original
~Great graphics
~Neat sand system

THE BAD:
~Can't choose levels
~Replay value

SUMMARY:
Once you first start this game you will be amazed at the graphics in the cut scenes, they have really brought the game to life. The game is set in Persia when it was a thriving place full of action, the perfect place to put an action game.

Though this game doesn't deliver a lot of action, the action it does deliver you will be quite pleased with, it is quite intense and you will need to focus. Well the game play is based around you jumping to the next area basically, though it is quite difficult, there are many challenges that await you, even booby traps and they'll get you if you are not concentrating, you really need to concentrate in this game to make it.

The music and sounds are excellent, as say you are walking down a corridor with your character yelling out because he took a swing at his sword, it will sound so realistic. Also the music will jump to the right mode if you are battling or just trying to solve a puzzle.

Now for the interesting part, I woint spoil it for you why it is but, you have the power of the sand time, now if you were to die you could revert time to the point where you want it to be, though there is a limit to how far back you can go though. Also it is very handy for those annoying jumping sequences. But you have to use them wisely as you only have a certain amount, though you can get more frome enemies.

Overall this is an enjoyable game, though if you are not the person who likes jumping sequences and really hates them, then DO NOT GET THIS GAME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!, ok but if you are into jumping sequences and you love them then GET THIS GAME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The replay value is not good in the game as you can't choose a level of your choise so you have to go through it all again, which is really annoying, this game varies in likes and dislikes for people so rent before you buy.

THE GOOD:
- Excellent Graphics

- Gorgeous levels - details are well thought out, rooms well planned, and the whole thing seems put together with a lot of care to the whole Persian theme.

- Superb moves - run along walls, bounce from wall to wall, leap over your enemies and slash them from behind, swing from pole to pole, and roll or flip to dodge attacks.

- Runs smooth with full detail @ 800x600 on an Nvidia FX5200 budget card.

- Music blends flawlessly with the whole Prince of Persia mythos and environment.

THE BAD:
- Some repetitiveness later in the game, fight scenes become a chore rather than an exciting change in pace.

- Not enough cutscenes to move story forward during play

- The plot is a little thin - there's no real character development or unfolding of the evil Jafar's plans.

- Sometimes the controls are unwieldy - until you master the combination of the weird camera control with the movement controls you can accidentally jump in the wrong direction to your death.

- One or two puzzles near the end of the game are VERY hard to figure out and very frustrating, you'll have to restart many times on those levels.

SUMMARY:
Reminiscent of Prince of Persia Classic, but with better puzzles, graphics that are above and beyond what I was hoping for, amazing action sequences, and very, very impressive gameplay.

The thing that amazed me the most in this game is the combination of the attention to detail in graphics and room design, and also the creativity that the developers show in taxing your full use of the myriad of acrobatic skills given to the Prince. The Prince can swing on ropes, run up sections of walls, run ALONG walls for amazing distances, jump huge distances, shimmy up poles and trees, swing like a gymnast from pole to pole, and hang from walls and shimmy along outcroppings like a nimble monkey.

With this huge arsenal of abilities the level designers came up with a huge number of puzzles to test your skill. And while the game takes place from a 3rd person perspective, the game engine is also versatile in that it allows you to look around your surroundings in First Person perspective (though you cannot move in this perspective) and also use a special Zoom out feature to see a birds distance view of your character.

On top of this, the camera freely rotates and zooms in and out with your mouse control. It's with the entire combination of these viewpoints that you will find the solutions to the puzzles - often you will find that you have to switch to first person view and look around to look for clues as to which way to proceed or how to get out of a room. It's an ingenious way to get you to use all the engine's capabilities to even SEARCH for solutions.

The music is also very nicely made, and fits in so superbly with the environment that you'll be jazzed up every time you fire up the game. I also found some of the quips the Prince makes to be very humourous (if highly chauvinist).

The only real complaint in the game is that the timing of some stunts is a little tight, and the camera angles are not always very user friendly - a common problem with many 3rd person games since the creation of the very first Tomb Raider.

if you vowed only to buy
one PS2 game for the entire year...

BUY "PRINCE OF PERSIA: SANDS OF TIME"

picture this...

take ALL your exxxpectations for each and EVERY game
that was released this past year, and then imagine that ALL
of these exxxpectations actually came true...

and that's whut "PRINCE OF PERSIA" is...

the following instances are moments when you will
definitely say "holy *bleep*" or "gat dammmn" during PRINCE OF PERSIA:

(a) the first time that you run up an enemy's chest....flip over him
and then slice his ass from behind ("gat dammmn")

(b) the first time that you run 15 feet sideways along a wall,
and then jump to that edge that seemed impossible ("holy *bleep*")

(c) the first time that you plunge hundreds of feet to your
absolute death, but then instantly rewind time right before
your very eyes to bring your hero & humble narrator back to life
("holy *bleep*in-gat dammmn")

and the amazing part - - - you're only 6% into the game.

trust me kool kats....this joint ain't no joke.
this game is everything that TR: Angel of Darkness & Enter the Matrix
SHOULD have been.

whut i say is legit...

i'm 24 years old....i make 48 grand a year....i have cancer.
so if my last gaming exxxperience was with this PRINCE OF PERSIA joint,
i would be glad that this was my last time holding a PS2 controller.

steal it, burn it, buy it....
i don't give a *bleep*....

just play the *bleep*in thing...

to give you a mental idea of whut this game
is like, picture being a playable third-person character in game environment as detailed and well-designed as MYST or RIVEN.

the graphixxx are smooth, the puzzles are well-executed, and the gameplay is flawless.

the only reason why i didn't give this title a
perfect 5ive is because there's ALWAYS room for
improvement - no matter whut the case may be.

that's it....i'm done.
