"If you enjoyed Mechwarrior 3 and want to continue the fight, it's worth it. But the real gem of this game is its multiplayer additions. Finally, for the multiplayer MW3 is where it's at."

"Despite its limitations, I really like MechWarrior 3: Pirate's Moon even more than the original MechWarrior 3 (which I thought was not shabby in the slightest). The improvements are small, but when added together, they make a big difference. Given that some expansion packs do not enhance the game engine or add much innovation at all, I am grateful for what is here. Some may be justifiably deterred by the ramped up difficulty in this release, but for true MechWarrior diehards, that should not prove to be much of an obstacle. While the forthcoming MechWarrior 4 promises even more dramatic changes since it is not being developed by Zipper, those impatient for awesome BattleMech combat who cannot wait any longer ought to give this excellent but overlooked release a try."

"It is difficult to recommend purchasing Mechwarrior 3 simply to enable the installation of Pirate's Moon. For those that have already made the investment in Mechwarrior 3 and either loved it and wanted more, or wanted to love it for its great graphics and atmosphere but were put off by some of the quirks in the gameplay, Pirate's Moon deserves a look."

"The most interesting aspects of the expansion pack are the new mechs and weapons at your disposal. The new mechs are the Atlas, the Awesome, the Centurion, the Clint IIC, the Masakari, and the Ryoken. As an added bonus you can play as a Clan Elemental. The new weapons include Thunderbolt missiles, X-Pulse lasers, MRMs, ER micro lasers, new machine guns, a light gauss rifle and heavy lasers. The Thunderbolt missile is noteworthy because it fires one salvo and inflicts huge damage."

"As in MechWarrior 3 before it, the problem with Pirate's Moon is that it lacks the scope and scale of its subject matter. The game's unpolished front end and its lack of memorable scenarios are circumvented by its impressive graphics and control, such that MechWarrior fans will probably enjoy Pirate's Moon just because it lets them climb into the cockpit of the Atlas and the Awesome."
