Background:
Based on the 1988 computer game, Jordan vs. Bird for the Sega Genesis offers one-on-one hoops action with legendary NBA superstars Larry Bird and Michael Jordan. An animated crowd will look on as you play against the computer or a friend on the half-court. The goal is to either score a specific number of points before your opponent (either 11, 15 or 21 points) or to finish with the most points by the end of the fourth period (periods can be adjusted from two to twelve minutes). Besides the one-on-one game, up to four players can alternate turns as Larry Bird in a three-point contest or as Michael Jordan in a dunk contest. The three-point contest offers a perspective directly behind Larry Bird as you race to sink as many baskets as you can within one minute. The slam dunk contest lets you choose three of the following ten jams for His Airness to perform: Stretch Air, Helicopter, Leapfrog, Hole-in-One, Reverse Jam, Switch-A-Roo, All-Star Slam, Hula-Loop, The Pumper, and Fly S.W.A.T. This contest offers a 2D view as you try to time the dunk in order to receive high marks from a panel of five judges. Other features include four adjustable difficulty levels (from recreational to professional); arcade or simulation style of play (which involves fatigue); instant replay; and having either winners outs or losers outs for possession.
