Not being a flight sim fan myself I was not really looking forward to this review. The package arrived and I sat looking at it for a while thinking "hmmm flight Sims are for nerds right?" I remember a scene from my favorite Uk TV show “The Fast Show” where Colin the nerd sits in his front room flying a Jumbo Jet and makes his wife sit there in the passenger seat to endure the 11 hour flight. Anyway I didn’t make my wife endure this flight I took it alone.

"With IL-2 Sturmovik, you will also be able to fly WWII Russian planes that have been very rarely modeled (if at all) before: (the I-16, MiG-3, LaGG-3, and La5FN, for instance). You’ll also be able to fly the many variants of the Sturmovik itself, of course. Terrain graphics look good even in this early state and object modeling is coming along nicely. Ground vehicles modeled will include (this is a partial list) for the Soviets, the BT-7, T-34/76, T-34/85, KV-1, IS-2, T-40, T-60, T-70M, SU-76, and SU-85. For the Germans you will have, the Pz.IIF, Pz.IIIJ, Pz.IIIG, Pz.IIIM, Pz.IIIN, Pz.IVE, Pz.IVF2, Pz.IVJ, Pz.V Panther, Pz.VIE Tiger, PzVIB Tiger II, Wirbelwind (2cm Flak), and StuG III."

"One of the things most sim pilots often wish for in their games is more realistic foliage, and IL-2 delivers some of the best ever seen in a fixed wing sim. "

"This is likely the best WWII flight action you'll see for some time, and with user made missions and aircraft in the offing, it doesn't get any better than this."
