THE GOOD: Continues the legacy of Black Ilse creating superb RPG games, has a decent storyline and the new character classes are a bomb.
THE BAD: Closed environment in comparison to Baldur's Gate 1 & 2.
SUMMARY: Great game. Everything I'd expect from Black Ilse. Its a cool sequel to the original Icewind Dale game. No dissapointments here. Cool new character classes and benefits would come in usefull like the thieflings great capability as a rogue and the assimar as a paladin. I would say thet the game is a bit more tactical than Baldurs Gate 2, relating it to what fallout tactics is to fallout. There are loads of creatures to fight at every corner and a healer is completely necessary if you dont want to be resting for 30 days to heal in the open. Its a great game and anyone who loves RPG will surely fall heads over heels for this game.
THE GOOD: Non-stop action crafted by the experts. Role-playing games don't come any better.
THE BAD: Has a small tendency to crash. Non-stop dungeons may annoy.
SUMMARY: What can I say? Black Isle strikes gold again. Its not quite as good as Baldur's Gate 2, but it leavs the first one high and dry. Superb.
One of the things I like is the way that you can customise your own party of adventurers, and no single one is the most important, unlike the Baldur's Gate series, where everything revolves around you and the other party members are just uncustomised nobodys who stop to cry halfway through a dungeon. Nah, the people you make are tough how you want them. There's also a vast array of magical items that you can grab, and great enemies and spells, all this is wrapped up in a challenging monster of an rpg. I'm impressed, you should be too.
THE GOOD: The Sound and Gameplay are awesome, 5/5. Graphics are a huge improvement on Baldur's Gate's pixelly visuals, but, believe me, it looks as good a Baldur's Gate 2, if not better with heart of winter.
THE BAD: The Game is VERY easy, and there is not enough variety in the chapters. Chapters 2,3,4, and 5 (there are 6 in total) all follow the same format : Get into dungeon, find either major character or major enemy, perhaps a few quests, get out of dungeon, get into next dungeon. There is not enough exploration work.
SUMMARY: All that said, the game is awesome. Chapter 6 is brilliant, with some very nasty fights (if you've played it then you'll know what I mean when I say Maiden Ilmadia, Tower Archers and Kraken Society Mages) There are not enough side quests, and the gamew strictly follows the same storyline right through. It does not have the level of anticipation that Baldur's Gate carried because the str ory is not actually...
THE GOOD: Nice music, graphics, sound effects, spell effects.
THE BAD: Difficult to earn money, Characters die easily.
SUMMARY: Personally, i think that if you have a good graphics card which supports Open-GL like Voodoo3 or Voodoo5, the graphics and animations in the game will be AWESOME! The most interesting part that attracted me to this game is the " Spell effects ". When you casts a spell, you'll hear a "Chant" over your speakers and the graphics starts to move. Even though i have never played Baldur Gates nor Baldur Gates 2 before, i still prefer this game than Diablo2. Having 6 characters in your party at the same time is cool. Lastly, i recommand gamers to play this game if you're feeling that you can't find any good Fantasy RPGs nowadays.
SUMMARY: Fascinating, absorbing, wonderful. Too damned hard for me at times (over 50 saves to destroy one powerful enemy) but some very funny situations as well.
I happily wasted some months of my life playing it.
THE GOOD: I think that this game is waaaaaay better than Baldur's gate, I mean, Baldur's gate was really fun, a good game, but this one is tweaked way better than B.G. And the gameplay is better, and the graphics are great, and the spell effects! There are lots of new weapons and other cool stuff, and you can get alongin the game way better than in B.G. When I played B.G. it took forever to get your guys up to level 4 or higher, and in the beginning its hard to survive. But in Icewind Dale you start out with up to 6 guys, and get to customize them, Unlike B.G. and the beginning is softer on you.
THE BAD: The Bad? well, there isn't any bad, just that some of the quests take a heck of a lot of time, because you hae to walk your guys all over the place. But thats it!
SUMMARY: This game is really good, and i have some cheats for ANY item you would want in the game www.neoseeker.com/Articles/Games/Cheats/Icewinddale_cheats_0718/index.html...
What the hell is he talking about. Although icewind dale is a makeovered baldurs gate, there is one key difference: baldur's gate focuses on role-playing, icewind dale focuses on killing horde after horde of monsters. In fact, icewind dale has almost no quests that don't boil down to "kill everything that moves, and return to me".
I think this game sucks! I liked baldurs gate, but this is just baldurs gate with slightly better graphics, and new quests, otherwise evrything else is the same (the interface, maps, charecters, half the monsters, and spells).
