THE GOOD: A huge improvement on everything that was good in the first game, better graphics for a start, a more diverse selection of ships and strategies - rather than sticking with the classic Homeworld solution of building one type of ship and sticking to it. The optiona have been immensly widened over the original, both in multiplayer and single player.THE BAD: The bad, hmmm - my main problem with this game is the option of a dificulty level, the originals sheer toughness and high learning curve (or if you didnt know what you where doing - wall) made it a classic, with this game, most noobs would choose "very easy" and blast through it in less than 6 hours, leaving out most of what made this game great. SUMMARY: Despite my main issue with the dificulty settings, this overall is a great game, it has the depth and strategic options too make you come back and consider another angle too get around the same problem, and the multiplayer online mode is more than enough too keep a person playing for years to come.
The single player mode, like the originals, is the gem of the game - it starts slow, pulling you into the game, and then by level 3 it pulls out the big guns - and in this aspect it doesnt dissapoint.
It has been 15 years since Kharak was incinerated by the Taidani empire, and the Kushan people lead their huge fight too reclaim thier lost homeworld Hiigara. After planetfall, the 500,000 colonists aboard the mothership where awoken to discover that thier homes, and familiys, pasts, presents, and for some - even futures had been incinerated by an enemy they never knew, and the few family groups - or "clans" that where left, absorbed eachother, leaving some clans with no stake on their new homeworld.
So a smaller clan, the Somtaaw - lead a political battle and managed to "borrow" the mothership too build thier own ships, and take thier people too the stars.
The game itself follows the Somtaaws main mining vessel - the Kuun-lan, as it accidently finds and unleashes a millenia old alien nano-virus, capable of ripping apart flesh, bone, metal and re-applying the "materials" to their own purposes, a virus called "The Beast"
After all that, i think i may have said enough to convince you to buy it, and even Redemption likes it! and hes the owner of neoseeker! So, go forth and buy it!! The Galaxie is relying on you! |

THE GOOD: The slick graphics, the amazing missions, and the loads of things you can do with a unit make this game one of the best real-time strategy games there is.THE BAD: Its freaking addictive. Seriously, I can think nothing bad about this game. SUMMARY: The game is a major improvement to the original Homeworld. You take control of a mining vessel, later turned into a warship, and face a wretched creatur...but I'm spoiling all the fun, aren't I? You must definitely get this, it'll make you want to play the campaign over and over again. And who knows, the next Homeworld game may be even better! |

| Homeworld was one of the best RTS's ever made. With it's rich story and background. Cataclysm is the next chapter to this ever evolving story. With two totally different races more or less. It's inovative user interface makes doesn't get in the way, is easy to use, and brings great efficiency to fleet management. It's too few lvls and the bitter aftertaste for more keep this game from getting a full 5 |

I didn't put anything in the good and the bad because there is too much to put! Homeworld: Cataclysm is the best strategy game that I have ever played! It (literally) adds a new dimention to the awesome gameplay. Once you get used to it, the up-down addition to the gameplay adds a huge "Je-Ne -Sais-Quoi" to the game And this the first game to add actuasl gun-moving time. Most strategy games will have units spin around in an instant to point guns at you and shoot. In Cataclysm, If you attack a unit from behind, it has to spin around to return fire.

THE GOOD: Everything the original had plus a new story line and new units. Improved controls.THE BAD: Some units are exact copies of those in the original. SUMMARY: The original homeworld had it all: Great story line, real time strategy, an RPG-like attribute of taking what you earned in one level to the next level. It even had a great 3D engine that almost feels like a flight sim when you follow a single fighter around. Cataclysm was able to retain all of these great aspects of the original while making improvements that make single and multiplayer games even more sensational. Using the same great engine, Sierra has created a new duo of fleets that is very balanced while having extremely diverse abilities. Added to this, an inovative new story line goes beyond anything I've seen in RTS games to date. This is a must have. |

THE GOOD: JESUS CHRIST this game kicks major ASS! Man the story line is great with awesome cut-scenes and great actual game play. When i first played it I almost cryed this game is great! A must buy!THE BAD: The controls can be a little hard to master for newbies to 3-D RTS. SUMMARY: I wish that there will be a homeworld 2. The designers for this game are pure genuses. |

The best yet space strategy game in the world!!! | 4.9 0 comments |

THE GOOD: Cataclysm is a brilliant game with a excellent story plot starting from a mere salvage operation to a full blown war.THE BAD: If the game had a first person mode where you could control a ship any way you wanted to I would, without fail, give this game a 5. SUMMARY: Cataclysm starts a few years after the first homeworld ended by playing as the 'Somtaaw' fleet awnsering a distress call from 'Higaara'(the homeworld) and you hyperspacing to help them. Later in the game you have to rescue a damaged destroyer from pirate attacks while you salvage an unknown but very important artefact drifting in space. The controls are the basicly the same with a few improvemants. In all you should get this game if your in to strategy. |

THE GOOD: Awesome graphics. Great story line. Good multiplayer value.THE BAD: Sort of addictive... Takes a pretty good system to run it, esp when you get a lot of units on the screen. SUMMARY: Well, for you stratagy gamers, this is a must have. Its got all the great graphics of Homeworld, yet better gameplay. There are still only two playable races, but they differ greatly in units, and strategy. It is sort of like Warcraft compared to Starcraft. This game was defanantly worth the money. |
