THE GOOD:
its heroes

THE BAD:
its bad heroes

SUMMARY:
good:
try by 3do to get to a new graphics system. lots of new changes.

bad:
graphics r... well... theyre not bad. i just dislike them very much. theyre good for heroes but bad if you compare them to etherlords or disciples 2. the combat graphics suck too. its all hazy, and looks all the same. they creatures have no smooth movement and its like a slideshow.

sound: i dislike it as well. at first the music is fitting but after a few minutes those opera singers get really on your nerves. the rest of the sounds are standard to bad.

gameply:
they changed a lot. some things are good. like: if you have your hero learn the spells of one city and another there get new ones available which combine both. and that ur hero is getting class bonuses with the right skill combinations is nice as well. too, i like the idea of having to chose some buildings and thus not beeing able to build others.

there was in other homm series a list in combat where you saw what happened in the last turns. its gone. so all is more chaotic. the movement shadow and grid is gone as well so you dont know for sure where your hero really can go and where the way is blocked.
the game somehow got faster. you cant lean back for a day of homm. you have your city build up very fast. therre are no more creatures upgrades which i miss.

------

to sum it up:
you tried a lot 3do, but in the wrong way. it seems that you werent motivated to make a good game. you just have inserted some features and removed others. the sound is crap, the graphics rnt great either. i dislike the game.

its not really horrible, its ok. but since i play homm since part 1, i think that homm4 is the worst. if you compare them with etherlords and disciples 2 there is no reason to play homm. really really sad.
