This is one island no one is going to want to go back to. In Far Cry 3 a group of college-aged friends end up on a group of tropical islands where it seems all hell has broken loose. A drug lord and his own mercenary army will suffer no distractions from their work at hand, so when the indigenous tribes of the islands recruit one of these college men to fight for them, war breaks loose.

Far Cry 3 is, like its predecessors, an FPS with a focus on creating an environment where players can innovate to conquer most challenges. Well, innovate to an extent. They're still going to have to shoot their way into and out of most situations, but which weapons and the attitude with which the player approaches said environment -- that's all up to innovation.

Still, Far Cry 3 tries to both iterate on the original games in the series, while also simplifying the process. Leveling boils down to simple skill trees, and interaction with the open world can be broken down to crafting goals and fortress capture points. Still, there's a level of freedom involved in being able to roam where you please and shoot all you want without more complex mechanics forcing players to make tough decisions.

Also, Far Cry 3 introduces the villain Vaas, who may be one of the most exciting villains in games in years.
