Completed Fallout 1 already? How do you rate that game? Since you're done with that game, why not give Fallout 2 a try? You'll enjoy it, though the graphics ain't too bad, the voice acting are great. And this time, with Dogmeat back, Tandi's retiring, and you, a tribal turns hero.

The gameplay is still pretty much the same, but with additional weapons and you're able to take item with just a click away, with the new 'Take All' option. And stealing becomes even more fun as NPCs carry better items. Sick of humans? Get a ghoul to join your party, sick of ghoul? How about a big, bad mutant? No mutant for you? What about your own customizable robot? Yeah...

New traits are available like Sex Appeal, and new perks are created. Stealing becomes harder? Why not use 'drugs' on people to make stealing easier?

New guns? Cool! How about new armor? Cool! Don't like playing nice? Wipe out a town to get the biggest, evil reputation ever. Sick of shopkeeper selling too high? Just blow him away and take his stuff. Sick of being lonely? Why not get married?

Gameplay 10 out of 10

Pros: This game has total freedom, you can do whatever you want, shoot whoever you want, not too bad for the graphics though, but even after you've completed the game, you can still play. Choosing gender also affects the story line a little.

Cons: Pretty much the same from the old Fallout, but its still fun.

Graphics 9 out of 10

Pros: Though not highly detailed, everything looks real, and even 'talking heads' look cool. And great environment too.

Cons: Not highly detailed in the arsenal area, but it still looks realistic.

Replay Value 10 out of 10

Pros: Don't want to restart the whole game again? Want to continue your job and wipe out Rad-Scorpions? Go ahead.

Cons: You'll get sick and tired of it soon, but you can still create a new character.

Story line 10 out of 10

Pros: Playing as a male or female have certain changes in the game, great story about how you must find a 'G.E.C.K' in order to save your dying village.

Cons: No complains.

Audio 9 out of 10

Pros: Nice sound effects, sounds from guns and even battle cries.

Cons: The creepy music from Fallout 1 is still here, better shut the background music.

Overall 9 out of 10

THE GOOD:
Fun. Hard. Realistic. Lots of traits. Different ways of completing objectives. Runs on Win2k, so I'm guessing it also runs on XP. Really Cheap.

THE BAD:
Graphics look crappy by today's standards. A couple bugs that still surface, even with the latest patch.

SUMMARY:
Let me address the bad first.

Once you patch your game, your saved games are obsolete. So patch it up BEFORE you play. Even after you patch it, there are some missions you can't complete because the characters you're supposed to talk to disappear. But that's somewhat negligable because they aren't essential to your main mission objective, which is to retrieve the HOLY G.E.C.K. But it's somewhat annoying you can't complete every mission you want...

Now for the good. The controls are very simple. Just point and click, right click to cancel or to cycle through different fire modes. Drag and drop, it plays like working Windows.

You start with either a custom or premade character. I suggest custom, because you can cater the traits into what you wanna do. Be a thief, a hero, a villian, etc...

The very beginning is hard just because your traits are so low. Do not give up, as the game progresses it gets easier, but sometimes still keeps the hard difficulty.

There are also a lot of NPC's for you to help you. Which is pretty cool. You can kill anyone, you can do anything. You can buy something off someone and then steal it back from them. Lockpick doors, blow them up if you can pick 'em... repair, check for traps... endless combinations. This is a real Roleplaying game.

There is a lot of fighting but you can also find your way around by sneaking or using your smooth talkin'. Depending you what traits you pick. So pick your path. Fallout 2 awaits you to find the HOLY G.E.C.K.

THE GOOD:
Plenty of weapons and characters to interact with, Exellent gameplay and storyline...

THE BAD:
There is no Fallout 3!?!....

SUMMARY:
This is by far the greatest Rpg game ive played, ok the graphics arent Excellent But the Gamplay and storyline is enough to overcome that.. Made by the makers of Balders Gate and Icewind dale fallout 2 is only 1 cd long but believe me it takes Days to complete for the constant gamer. its a classic now so it is fairly cheap although i would rate it better than the Ł30 (approx) Balders gate 2... definatley 1 to have, complete it again and again

THE GOOD:
A) It's a Fallout game
B) New weapons, items, and armor
C) At this point, a killer price

THE BAD:
May be too slow for fans of action/rpg's such as Diablo II.

SUMMARY:
Following in Fallout's footsteps, Fallout 2 takes place in the same gaming 'universe', and is a great improvement. New weapons like the Gauss Rifle and the Bozar add some heavy firepower to Fallout's already expansive collection of weapons. There are also additions to perks, traits, items, etc. Many party members are also available for recruiting, such as a mutant, ghoul, robot, tribal, and even a deathclaw!

The only way this game could be improved is with a multiplayer version, although I don't know how that would work.

However, fans of Diablo will probably be bored with all the screen-changing. At the not-too-steep price of twenty bucks (at least in my region), it's worth a shot on a gem of a game.

THE GOOD:
Excellent ambientation. Good combat system. Good storyline.

THE BAD:
Poor NPC management.

SUMMARY:
Fallout 2 is a great sequel of an even greater game. It is one of the best sci-fi RPGs out there. With its huge game world and loads of weapon and items, it appeals to the hardcore RPG fan. It is a non-linear game with a pretty involving storyline. You play your character the way you want. You can be a terminator-like character going into every town and killing everyone or you can be a nice guy who asks first and fights later. Any way you choose to play, it will be a very pleasant gaming experience.
