SUMMARY:
It was nearly like it was a year ago when HL2 came to the stores, I rushed to get me a copy of F.E.A.R. expecting it to be like HL2 or even better. Well honestly HL2 I do like a tip more but somehow these two titles can not be measured to each other since HL2 got the advance to pick up to a good beginning of a Story already introduced by HL1 which's definitely outstanding. F.E.A.R.'s Story is great aswell but suffers a bit in deapth, but since I loved the X-Files I got hooked to this games Storyline right ahead. Fast paced action right from the beginning.
Some scary moments, scary in a really smart way, for example, try to imagine you're climbing down a very long ladder. As you step down on the ground you turn to the left and all out of a sudden there's an phantasm sighing - well that doesn't sound scary but the way the producers using flickering lights, fog and other elements you could think this is scripted by Hitchcock! And all of my friends were jumping at these particular spots in the game as well so I know it's not just me. The other thing I do like alot in FPS's is the balance of the weaponry and the availability, you might go low on bullets and grenades, but with a little luck and a good eye for hidden pathes you will be able to get through every situation. You might get into a rush but that's what we like anyway...give me that adrenaline baby!
I also liked the Bullet Time which we all know since Max Payne (ripped from The Matrix), especially since it is essential in F.E.A.R. to make use of it, otherwise you will get vaporized real quick! My opinion, if you like first person shooters and you don't mind the high detailed gore, guts and blood and limbs not to forget, you've got to get this title. But only if you do not tend to a weak heart because action is written in capitols in this game. Oh, not to forget this game will run perfect on todays mediocre equipped computers, my stats:
