I often refer to Empires: Dawn of the Modern World as Age of Empires but a million times better.
The graphics are great, you can see the actual moving of parts to siege weapons, and soldiers go flying when hit with ships/seige weapons. There isn't much in way of music, but it's certainly not annoying to hear.
There are 5 different ages that you can control your civilisation in, the Medieval Age, Gunpowder Age, Imperial Age, World War I and World War II.
Through the Medieval, Gunpowder and Imperial ages, you control either England, Franks, China or Korea. Then, as you go into the World Wars, you get United Kingdom, United States, France, Germany and Russia.
Each civilisation has it's advantages and disadvantages, each civilisation has unique troop types, and buildings. For example, The United Kingdom have SAS Operatives and Amphibious...
Well, for one thing, theres not much variety. You only get like, 3 land units per age until world war 1. Also, high pop caps can make this game very jerky on slower model computers.
