THE GOOD:
Improved graphics
Deus Ex 1 tie ins

THE BAD:
Relatively short game
The interface
The new weapon ammo system
Seems less deep than the first Deus Ex

SUMMARY:
After I finished the first Deus Ex, I was excited about the prospect of playing another Deus Ex. I did not buy this game after hearing some of the bad reviews. I waited until it was in the bargain bin, purchased it, and found out why it wasn't getting many good reviews.

I booted the game and was greeted to a very jerky beginning of the game. The graphics were good (I've seen better) but the performance was horrible. After some tweaking I managed to get the game going at a reasonable rate. I did not like the interface of the game at all. It was ugly and didn't lend itself for usage with a mouse. I decided to just ignore these problems and try to get the Deus Ex experience.

The problem with the game is you get that experience in the beginning but lose it towards the middle of the game when a certain twist occurs. Then the game becomes a shallow action game until the end. Speaking of the end, this game was way to short for my tastes. In Deus Ex, I spent a week playing it before I beat it. This game only took two days. There really is no incentive to go out exploring. The only things you get are a few lame secret weapons and lousy weapon mods.

I beat this game twice (as each Alex)and haven't played it since. I still play the old Deus Ex even though I've had it for almost 3 years. I can't help but feel that DX:IW is only a hollow shell of what Deus Ex is.

Bottom Line:
Mediocre Action Game. Stick with the old Deus Ex.

THE GOOD:
Deus Ex 1

THE BAD:
This game.....

SUMMARY:
Ok so Im probably biased because I loved the original Deus EX. Ground breaking original, stimulating, an edge of your seat kind of game. Which is everything this incarnation isnt. The character development system has dissapeared (which is a bad thing), the weapon mods are ill though out, the bio mods are badly designed as a system. The freedom and character maninplulation that I expected wasnt there... For all its supposed "flexibility" and choice part of me felt that I was playing this game on a monorail.
This is game is in every way a "deus EX Light" version of the first incarnation. As I said I am biased because my love of the original was so strong. To take the game on its own face value it is unlikely I would have finished it if I hadnt been for the hope of waiting for some (expected) glimmer of briliance to shine through that I knew Warren Spector & co were possible of creating. This is sloppyness and commericalism at its worst... A dummed down version of a great gamming experience. If you are thinking of buying it, dont. Get the original. If you already own it, play it again. Even repeat playing of a well worn game will give you a better playing experience then this substandard release.

THE GOOD:
Nearly everything

THE BAD:
Temporary technical issues, low charactere depth

SUMMARY:
I never planned on actually buying this game in the beginning, but after stumbling upon the demo, I ran to buy it almost right afterwards. I must admit that the game was pretty laggy until I obtained the 1.1 patch, the patch fixed everything. Then theres the fact that the characters all act like near morons which bothered me for a while, but I got over it.

Under normal circumstances this game would have gotten a 4.5, but some of these other reviews are so unreasonable that I had to give it a higher score. This game is so good that I am able to forgive some pretty large technical issues that I faced before I obtained the patch.

The game is pure fun once you get a few fun to use bio mods or throw a few corpses around(for all of you who think throwing corpses around is immature, shame on you). The fact that you can kill all but the most vital characters was quite renewing for me, because only a few games offer that posibility (Morrowind even more so). For all you who bash this game, hear this. THIS GAME IS AWESOME, PERIOD. Its not my problem if you have a peice of junk computer that cant play this game.

THE GOOD:
Graphics. Opening movie.

THE BAD:
Characters, Acting, Physics, A.I., Story

SUMMARY:
I really wanted to like this game. I thought the first game was excellent and I loved Spectre's other games like System Shock 2 (now THAT'S a game). Deus Ex: Invisible War on the other hand seems destined to become an icon of mediocrity. I have literally been forcing myself to play it, hoping it will get better. I could go into the depth on the poor voice acting, pretentious story, idiotic A.I. and laughable physics, but the real problem revolves around the characters. I really don't care what happens to any of them. None of them are interesting or seem real in any way. Without caring for the characters no tension is created. Without tension, the conflict seems empty. So, why bother.

What a crying shame. Thank God it was a Christmas gift and I didn't have to fork out the dough for the game myself.
