This is one of those games that has the fun taken away when you mod it.
Cave story puts you behind the reigns of a mysterious soldier with a bad case of amnesia. As goes the script for all such games, you quickly take up a side with the cutest most vulnerable race around and become a victim of circumstance. After building the base for the plot, you'll begin a treck through beautiful selection of landscapes, helping a variety of curious critters and blasting away an array of amusing enemies.
There are some truly memorable bosses to fight. Ranging from laughable toy-boxes to evil multi-bodied power-cores. It really makes you feel good about yourself, tearing up an evil, power-abusing monster, or destroying the last remnants of an out-of-control uber-force.
The dialogue is a beautiful combination of laughs and tears, really bringing you into the story. You'll fall in love with some characters, and hate others.
The game combines silky smooth game-play, innovative weaponry, sprawling enviroments and a thick storyline to make a truly enjoyable experience.
All through the game are lovely little secrets to find and give the gamer a leg up. And if you pass up the extras early on and play the hard version, those secrets will come back even better.
If you can get past the slightly old graphics, then you'll instantly fall in love with this game. The Graphics are reminiscent of the orginal pokemon games, which instill a fun sense of nostalgia. For a true gaming historian, this game is a must play.
You'll find yourself switching on your computer, in your sleep, then waking up leaping over pits of spikes and blasting down giant jellyfish. You'll find youself closing CSS and COD4 and flicking on the familiar tune of the menu.

The music score, though all in polytune, is a symbol of its time. From Jumpy to deep. From heavy to soft. From Evil to good. Perfect twists and turns. You'll catch yourself sweating when you recognise a familiar tune of a hated boss.
A honest to god memorable experience. Something every gamer has to at least try.
