"Despite some minor shortcomings, B-17 Flying Fortress rises above the clouds that haunt it to emerge among rays of sunlight. Nowhere else in today's market will you be able to find a flight simulator with the boldness and keen utilization of detail shown by B-17 Flying Fortress..."

"The AI and campaign management functions are still works in progress, but if they come through with the quality we've seen in the rest of the sim, MicroProse and Wayward will have a real winner on their hands."

"B17 puts you in charge of one of the famous American World War II bombers of the title, letting you take over the role of any of the ten crew members - navigator, pilot, co-pilot, bombardier, radio operator, and five different gunners."
"...the epic scope of The Mighty Eighth can be matched by few games. Beautiful to watch and entertaining to play, the game will draw you in... Serious sim fans should definitely give this game a test flight..."

"The game will focus on guiding a crew bomber crew through a 25-mission tour of duty in Europe. Players will be able to fly as members of one of four different historical bomber groups, and the missions in the game will be based on actual historical missions flown by these groups. The idea of flying as part of a Regensburg-Schweinfurt double strike or a shuttle raid on Ploesti with a serious, uncompromising combat model is very attractive - at least it is to me, assuming Hasbro can pull it off."
