Great Game | 4.5 0 comments |

THE GOOD: Studio Town Obsessed Fan Superstar Friends More Skins More StuffTHE BAD: Nothing SUMMARY: This is a great expansion to the Sims series. It is one of the best ones yet. They added the Superstar addition to it. You start as your regular old Sim and you sign with an agent. Once you get an agent you can visit studio town and become a superstar. Now it isn't that easy. You have to start as a nobody like everybody else and then you work your way up the ladder to become a superstar. It is a tough process but it can be done. You cant just move up the charts to become a superstar just by performing either. You have to know people. To get to know people you are going to have to find them in Studio Town and become friends with them. Now this is tougher than it sounds too. You cant just start as a nobody and talk to the best superstar of the Sims. You have to start small and work your way up. You also have to know what to say to these people and make sure that you don't talk to them for too long because then they won't like it. There are three careers that you can choose to become a superstar in. You can be an actor, a fashion model, or a music artist. They are all very fun and have many different stages and stuff to use to get you Superstar status going. This game is way more of a challenge than any of the other games and it is also way better because you can do more than just run your house. You can live your live as a Superstar. |

What my dear friend told me: | 5.0 0 comments |

THE GOOD: How everything is like "watched" by the pros! Your guy or girl can be anything that can make them a star! You can fall in love with Drew Barrymore, or get singing lessons from Avril Lavigne.THE BAD: How the pros are always commenting: "You're no model! You're just an ammature! Get off the stage and take off that bathing suit!"! SUMMARY: My friend told me that this is what happened to her family. It'll make you want to play it badly! Okay, here it is: Her guy wanted to be a model so he got into a speedo then started shaking his bum. A guy told him to get lost. Steph (my friend) made her girl, Cindy, sing into the karaoke machine. Everybody booed her. So Avril Lavigne comes and gives her singing lessons! Now later they're at a movie set and Steph decides to let them sneak onto the set! Cindy dresses as an old Grandma in a rocking chair with a shot gun across her lap! Of course, they get caught, and almost got sued! Oh, and her other family's guy almost married Drew Barrymore but the other girl was jealous and made Miss. Barrymore leave the house! is that convincing, or what??? Now go get this game!!! YAY! |

The Sims: Superstar | 5.0 0 comments |
by vanillagigglez from North East, , UK | Jun 3, 2004 |
THE GOOD: Studio Town, NPC's and the Obsessed fan!THE BAD: Not many new skins and clothes SUMMARY: Can you believe it? The Sims are famous! This expansion pack has got to be rated as one of the best, EVER! What do people say, sequels aren't as good as the original? Well, they obviously haven't played the Sims Superstar!
This game has many more features than the previous expansion packs that makes it individual and unique. For example, you can actually call a cab and go to Studio Town! Studio town is a cool new town on the edge of Sim City where your Sims can go to get famous or to meet the famous. Tonnes of new objects to give your budding Sim a chance for stardom! You can meet the Paparazzi and get photo shoots. Star in a film or go on a catwalk! Whilst in Studio town, think about making your own star place. You may get somewhere!
Tonnes of new NPC's as well! You can call the Butler for 500 a day and he'll hire and fire staff, look after the kids and even make meals! There are even superstars like Avril Lavigne, Christina Aguilera and Marilyn Monroe and you can get their autograph! Cool!
What about the obsessed fan? Uh oh! He follows you everywhere, you better have a 2 story house! He rummages in your garbage and leaves you black roses! He will steal your trophies if he has a chance!
Loads of cool music! You'll be singing and humming along. When you go to studio town and record a jingle for an ad, you'll be singing along. Ok, ok, I admit. At least I sung along!
Live with other people? Brothers and Sisters, Moms and Dads, Husbands and Wives or even room-mates! Whoever you live with, you've gotta hide the game. i once came back and my brother had played on the Sims Superstar. He'd made 7 houses and made them all Superstars! Do you want a fabulous game like this being played on? Just hide it!
The graphics are cool, cooler than before! You've gotta admit, they have style and know how to use it. Also, think about the new clothes and faces. You can chose all sorts and buy new ones in Studio Town!
So, you convinced yet?! BUY THE GAME! If you're not convinced, there is something wrong with you! |

THE GOOD: Cool skins, limos and even butlers!THE BAD: It's true. You really do hav 2 work hard 2 be a superstar. SUMMARY: Don't get me wrong: this is a gr8 game and a must for Sim addicts but once U get stuck on a certain star level U feel like U want 2 tear your hair out or something!!! I feel that this is an expansion pack that actually challenges U though! At least U get a butler. He does almost everything 4 U. He gets all the staff you will need 2 keep your household up 2 scratch and even cooks you meals so you needn't worry about the kids. So everyone knows hoo U R, U always get sent 2 Studio town in a limo, once sum1 knows your name that is. The road 2 fame is not easy. I would highly reccomend U get your skillz sorted 1st and make lots of celeb m8s! Trust me, I've had this a while now and I'm still not bored yet! Maxis have touched gold this time! |

Bears a resmblance to a movie I once saw.... | 5.0 0 comments |

THE GOOD: -------------------THE BAD: ------------------- SUMMARY: The Sims Superstar is a much-needed expansion pack for The Sims. According to my calculations it is the 6th expansion pack to come out. In this one you play just as normal, making Sims, furnishing your house, decorating it and following your own career. But now you can become famous. There are 3 types of stardom; Fashoin, Music, and Acting. There is also a new town (like Vacation Island in the Vacation Expansion Pack) called Studio Town. You go there to interact with the famous people and all that and you get new menus to talk to them such as "I am not worthy" and "Can I have your autograph?" You can also go there to become a star. Talk to the directors there and see if they will accept you in a commercial, fashion show, or to sing. You then proceed to gain stars based on how famous you are. There are 5 stars to get in 1/2 star increments. At every increment you get more things available to you. Like at 3 1/2 stars you get a fashion runway and at 4 1/2 you get a movie set. You can also get more famous by getting shummy with the Actors, Musicians and Models. There are a whole bunch of new things to buy like furniture and there is even a new, wall-mounted TV. There are new roof syles, wallpaper and flooring. This expansion pack is certainly not one to be missed. |

THE GOOD: New Items, skins and uhm, items.THE BAD: Deją-vu. Big time. SUMMARY: Superstar the expansionpack comes close to Maxis trying their hands at becoming highwaymen. Up to unleashed they rocked, but with this uninspired overpriced add on they went on the *let's milk our franchise* route, like Eidos did with Lara Croft, Blizzard is doing with Warcraft and Microsoft with flightsimulator (they even have you print out your own manual!) Without embarking on the conclusion that softwarehouses by now totally disrespect their consumerbase some words about Superstar.
Your carefully nutured sim will turn into an egomaniac, robbed of all social skills, and all things fun you liked to do with him/her. When you become a superstar, you sacrifice it all, your friends, your bankaccount, your sim-spouse. Handicapped with the desire to become a star, your sim thus embarks on a solitairy road... There are some laughs to be had, especially at the kareoke and the open podium, but they wear thin quicker than Jerry Springer reruns. And then you're left with what Superstar really is, a cheap cash in. Superstar does nicely what Maxis has tried to do with the previous expansion packs, killing the fun. Fifth time lucky, I guess.
The only upside is the extra items to be had. If you're anything like me, you like building houses and community lots, then Superstar is worth looking into. Sadly, that's the only attraction of the expansion pack has to offer.
The conclusion? If you're a sim-contractor, you should probably buy Superstar, but on the other hand, a little surfing will land you umptheen and a half items without the frustration coming from having paid thru the nose for it. |

Crashes | 1.5 0 comments |

THE GOOD: Cool new onjectsTHE BAD: Crashes fairly constantly SUMMARY: This game had loads of potential but it seems that it has not been tested properly as within a half hour period it crashed 5 times. I am not the worse affected either!!! There is a new downton area for progressing with your fame career, and while fun is actually harder than any other career as you follow the sim there. You need not only freinds but famous freinds. While i, and the hundreds of others that have this and worse problems, enjoy this game, it is very frustrating to be in the middle of superstar lots and managed to advance your career sufficianlty and the thing crashes on you without the ability to save. Wait for Makin Majic and see if that is better. It is due out around halloween and judging from the screen shots it should be loads better... Just hope they have tested this one properly |

THE GOOD: Lots more objects your sims can use like the oxygen bar, and the butler is the greatest thing about the game, he will even take care of your baby!!THE BAD: Take lots of work and time to earn stars, and if you don't go to studio town for awhile stars are taken away form you! SUMMARY: It is an all around great expansion pack, I think they should have put a few more new skins but hey it has lots of other cool stuff to make up for it like the satelite dish that adds 4 new channels for you sims to choose from, and the skydiving simulator is so funny when the sims first get in! Never take your sims into studio town when their stats are down to perform, the will be booed untill the cry then stars will be taken away for that!! Don't forget the one thing I told you above about the butler taken care of your babies, saves your sims lots of time and energy!! |

The Sims: Superstar | 4.0 0 comments |
by jubee from , , | May 21, 2003 |
THE GOOD: Game play is much more involved. Situations are more challenging. The bulter kicks ass! More interesting ways to get what you want-to be a star!THE BAD: Without happiness cheats and money cheats, might just be impossible or take a very long time to get anywhere. You spend more money trying to be a star than you make and will go broke very fast. Studio Town tires your Sim out faster than anything else. Have to go back home frequently to recharge. SUMMARY: The best part is that anyone can be a star. All you have to do is work hard at charisma points, creative points and body points. Then you have to go to Studio Town and impress everyone. But, be carefull if they don't like you. You can lose star points this way. And if ou lose star points it takes longer to get them back than it took to get them in the first place. |
