THE GOOD:
  • Storyline
  • Replayability
  • Immersiveness
  • Graphics (for its time)
  • Detail/Lore
  • Extras/Easter Eggs
  • First and Third Person options

    THE BAD:

  • Glitches galore

...seriously that's it...You can't fault this game for anything...

    SUMMARY:
Gameplay: This game is by far the best available in terms of gameplay. You have so much freedom the game is literally a second life. You can follow the main quest line until the end or you can never actually do it and still become the greatest hero in the land by just exploring and conquering all you find. You can collect items and store them in a house; or better yet kill a shopkeeper and take his shop for your house so you have lots of display shelves. Basically the idea of this game is choice, or more specifically freedom of it.

Graphics: The graphics in this game, while outdated at the writing of this review, were revolutionary at the time of release and still remain to a high standard years after the games release. The main benefit of Morrowinds graphics is that while they are advanced for their time and revolutionary you really don't need a super computer to run the game. I myself first played the game on a computer I'd had for many years before the game was released and it ran fine on settings that still gave great effects. On any modern computer this game will run with ease on maximum settings, allowing the player to experience the world of Morrowind in all its beauty and splendour.

Plot: The plot line is deep, rich, rewarding and immersive. The game begins with you the player arriving at the island of Morrowind as a prisoner only to find you have been sent there by request of the Emperor and that you are to be freed. After this you are set out into the world with a package and the name Caius Cossades and a town you must find by the name of Balmora. From this point onwards you will get sucked into the world of The Elder Scrolls as you try to save an Island from destruction by becoming, from the lowly prisoner, a hero of the Empire.

Online: This game does not support online play. However, this is a strength of the game as the developers have focused solely on the single player aspect and have perfected it down to a tee. Multiplayer would ruin this game so be glad it isn't an option.

Tech Support: Bethesda are a helpful gang and if you drop them a line/email then they will get back to you when they can. They did for me.

Easter Eggs: This game is full of little surprises, whether it be a joke about previous games, a jest at real life or just a unique and special item that is there for some fun.

Audio: The musical score for this game is superb. The only game I have ever played to top the music in Morrowind is Oblivion, its successor. The music draws you into the game and makes the world feel alive. Voice acting is also unique and vibrant and the characters feel alive as you interact with the world around you.

Controls: The controls are simple and easy to learn and master. Movement relies on the simple WASD system with your mouse used as a directional and aiming mechanism. You can also apply hotkeys to your spells and weapons to allow easy combat control.

Repetition: This game has no repetition what so ever as the freedom it gives to the player means you can play the game an infinite amount of ways and still achieve the same thing. This feature is a major aspect of why the game is so special.

Lasting Value: As stated this game will stand forever as one of the greatest of all time. I'm sure this game will still be played 50 years from now.

Tying Into a Series: Morrowind sticks to the lore of the previous Elder Scrolls game and remains true to the world it is set it in. It also sets up beautifully for some storyline that takes place in the next installment, Oblivion. While playing the game ensure you absorb all the lore by talking to all of Morrowinds inhabitants and reading books and scrolls from all over the Empire. This will give you a graps of the magnitude of the Elder Scrolls story and will shed further light on events that have occured in the series from Redguard to Oblivion.

Glitches/Bugs in Offline Modes: Unfortunately this is the games only drawback. It is full of glitches and bugs. Prone to random crashes or save game corruptions this game can frustrate the hell out of you at times. But the experience you get in between all this is well worth any angst caused.

Summary: In summary Morrowind is a timeless classic that will go down in history as one of the greatest RPGs ever created with a lore, story and environment that players can fall in love with as much as reader can for the Lord of the Rings.

PC  The Best RPG!! EVER!!! 4.8

    THE GOOD:
    -Very Open-Ended
    -Huge Map
    -Hundreds of quests
    -Awesome story
    -Hundreds and Hundreds of Weapons
-You can pick up just about anything (forks, plates, cups, etc.
    -Nice water effects
    -countless other things
    -Lots of spells

    THE BAD:
    -GLITCHES GLITCHES GLITCHES!!!
    -Game crashes to desktop alot
-Graphics are a bit outdated by now
    -Combat SUCKS!
    -You have to load alot

    SUMMARY:
Probably the best game I have ever played. I have been playing for 2 years now and still haven't stopped. The game is seemingly endless, and there are many different ways to play it. You can choose to follow the main quests, or you can just roam around and explore caves and stuff. You can become head of a guild, become a thief, wizard, criminal, WHATEVER.

    Gameplay: 99/10
    Story: 10/10
    Graphics: 5/10
    Combat: 2/10
    Sound: 8/10
    Overall: 9.7/10

Basically the only thing that keeps me from giving this game a perfect score is the terrible combat system and glitches. It seems like alot but the incredible gameplay, story, and open-endedness more than makes up for it. This is a must own for all you rpg fans, and it is cheap now. So what are you waiting for? Don't just sit there, get up and buy it already!

All of us RPGer's have been waiting years for an original rpg that will completely reinvent its predecessors and bring about a memorable gaming experience. Most gamers who have played Daggerfall, the prequel to Morrowind have been hearing the hype surrounding this game with eager ears. Seeing the openness and flexibilty with many previews and screenshots, we have been anticipating this for a while.

The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind is just that game.

    Graphics-
Simply astounding. When you see your first rainfall, and see it hit the water with each droplet rippling, you will be amazed. Characters are well textured and so are the buildings. Creatures move with realistic fluidity. Weapons sem to have a metallic gleam about them that is comparible to their real counterparts. My only gripe would have to be the bland brown textures that are common in the wooded/sandy areas. i would definetely recommend a GeForce 3 or 4 to get the full effect. (9/10)

    Gameplay-
TES:Morrowind is a first/third person rpg. With a huge number of preset races, classes and birthsigns-its possible to play most any RPG type character you could want. You can even customize a character class for yourself at the game's start. Exploration itself will take you off the main game's quest into ''living your life'' as Bethesda themselves put it. Actual combat is a joy, made easy by selecting a weapons ''best attack mode'' and strafing is a neat addition to fans of FPS's. Conversing with townspeople and manipulating items are equally easy. (10/10)

    Sound/Music-
The games selection quality of music is slightly repetitive and leaves much to be desired. However, all of the sound effects, from the grunt of a guard to water rushing to the screech of atronach are superb. (9/10)

    Replayability-
Limitless. yes, you heard right. No end. Once you ahve exhausted all of the games races/classes combinations and have complaeted every quest and obtained every item-you can create your own. Bethesda has packeaged in an incredibly comprehensive editor thats suited to both casual and extreme modmakers alike. Through a myriad of windows and neatly labeled tabs, nothing is inconceivable. The ability to create infinite races, classes, birthsigns, weapons, armors, items, continents, creatures and npc's assure that it will be a VERY long time until you grow tired of this masterpiece. (10/10)

In the end, wether you are looking for something new or simply an original RPG with fresh ideas, Morrowind is the game for you. There is simply too much in this game that is good versus what is bad.
Go and pay the $50.00 for this game(pc version) you will NOT be dissapointed.

    THE GOOD:
    ~Non linear
    ~Lots of people to meet
    ~Many side quests
    ~Unique
    ~Original
    ~Many differnet weapons armour etc
~Best Rpg ever (untill Fable comes to kick its a$$).
    ~The story line
    ~Mostly every thing

    THE BAD:
    ~The graphics
    ~Glitches and bugs
    ~Slow
~little bits of things that bug me
~Loading times (actually read what I say).

    SUMMARY:
Well when I fisrt saw this game in screen shots I thought it was going to be one of those really crap games which need to be shot, well I was wrong this game turned out to be one of my favourite games ever. The reason that I thoght it was going to be crap was the graphics, but that has a reason though.

This game is unique it its own way as it has one interesting story line, well it not only has the main story to follow you have the option to go and take any of the side quests available and believe me there is a lot. Actually you could easiliy play fo a whole month and not do one bit of the story line and you still would be trying to complete them all. Now this game has side quests that may bore some people like for one: deliver this scroll to some guy in such and such town and then deliver the item he gives you to Mr X and then bring the item he gave you back to me. Yes I know they are sometimes boring but the unique thing is you usually never get around to doing it as you get distracted by some town or cave or another duty that you have to do so this keeps you occupied for quite some time.

This game is so fun as you aren't restricted to where you want to go (unless you go out to far at sea, but all games have boundaries). You can basiclly roam around any where which adds to extra exploration, but if you don't know the area much prepare to get lost in this vast world. Tha land scape can be quite lush with lots of grass land and nice cities but then you got the ashlands region where it is a hole and I mean it (you really won't like it out there) The centre of the island is a volcano and that's why most of the land is barren.

This game is one of the buggiest games there are and if you play it for a year the glitches get worse as the disk may be dirty sign pops up every 10 minutes especially when you go to your map.

The combat systam is cool as it is not turned based combat like other RPG games, the music is nice but can get repetitive and the sound of all the other things is good (especially when it rains).

At first when you start your file you will find your self struggling to defeat a rat but when you advance in the game you become unstoppable and no one can beet you not even Dagoth Ur (the final boss guy).

The lastibilty is so great, like I could play this again and again and again it's that great.

The spells in the game are awsome and there is so many of them to buy and make.

The long loading times are really annoying but when they are loading I'll usually go off and have a stretch and get a drink make some coffee get some lunch do some work around the house take a nap go on a plane a visit my Grandma over seas and then the loading should be done so it's good in a way as you get off your a$$ once and a while to take a break from the computer.

    Gameplay: 10 /10
    Graphics:6 /10
    Sound: 8.5 /10
    Lastiblity: 10 /10
    Overall: 8.9 /10 = Great game

Over all I recomend this to all RPG fans and those who like to kill innocent people or run a guild or like to roam around with swords and shields etc.

    THE GOOD:
Huge land, customizable characters, tons of missions, enchanted items and spellmaking

    THE BAD:
a little glitchy, combat not perfect, very addictive

    SUMMARY:
This is one of the best rpg's ever. The storyline is amazing and it is extremely open ended though you can just stick to the main storyline.(why would you want to.)There are tons of things to do at all times. You can join a ton of different houses and guilds. You can also build your own stronghold which is pretty cool. You can completly customize your character with different armor and weapons. You can also enchant items with magical powers and make your own spells and potions which is sweet. The island of Vvardnvell is huge and has tons of caves and tombs to explore and loot.Basically an all around great game. The only rpg that is better has to be Star Wars;Kotor.

    THE GOOD:
-Freedom to do whatever you want
    -Great story
    -lots of things to do
    -Enchanted items!
    -Everything can be edited

    THE BAD:
    -Some annoying glitches
    -Hard in the beginning

    SUMMARY:
Morrowind is what all RPGs should be, entertaining game with lots of things to do and fully customizable character, when you advance in games you can select what stats you want to boost.

Game has really big world and it's full of caves, tombs, cities and other interesting locations full of treasures and valuable items.

Game balance is really good, when you get higher levels you start to see more stronger monsters and enemies but they never are impossible to kill.

There aren't anything really bad in this game, but one of the most annoying things is that you can get stuck if you happen to jump near some tree or fence or something similar, this happens once in a while if you're not careful enough.

    THE GOOD:
    -----

    THE BAD:
    -----

    SUMMARY:
The lighting effects and detail to the interaction between the AI is superb. The game is just hard enough to be fun, but not easy enough or short enough to be dissapointing. Although there is a downside.
Early in the game is is almost impossible to kill anything. The textures on the characters are flat. The game is so detailed, that occasionaly AI wil get stuck in walls, or even your own character. There are other small thechnical flaws, like objects that eed to be there that aren't. And there is also the fact that you don't know there is a ferry service on a giant bug until you're halfway to the next city, half dead, and that annoying "damsel in distress" sidetracks you.
This is the best RPG for PC, hands down. The game is so addictive. Getting level-ups and advancing in the ranks is the best part, aside from the clever option to steal things. Overall excellent games-a must have.

    THE GOOD:
Everything! This game is so great! You can do anything you want and go anywhee you want. You can be a theif, assasin, or just do your own thing. There is no limits to the possibilities!

    THE BAD:
Nothing really. Except it is quite challenging (that can be a good thing however) Sometimes it is hard to figure things out, like the Demon Tanto for instance. It can turn into the summoned sword, but you have to summon it first.

    SUMMARY:
This is the hottest game I have played in a long time. Once you start, you are seriously hooked! (at least I was) You can choose from many different characters to be, and you can even download more! If you don't wanna buy it, at least check it out and rent it. I think you won't be sorry.^_~

    THE GOOD:
Want a game that you want to dive your mind into when you have nothing else to do? Need a game which you can play just for fun and try things out? You don't have Neverwinter Nights yet??? What are you waiting for?

    THE BAD:
Get ready with your insect spray coz the game is crawling with bugs. Good thing there's a way out.

    SUMMARY:
    Plot
Can't say anything less about this part of the game. At the beginning, after around an hour of gameplay, you're going to sit in front of your PC, pull your hairs out, and say "What am I supposed to do?"

Basically, that's what you have to do. The good thing about the game is that it opens you into the world and the plot moves as you go through the world. The people you meet, the objects you come across, and the events that you witness are all part of the plot which you are making for yourself.

The diversity of the plot really fits into the definition of RPG games. When you've set up the earlier parts of the plot that you've chosen, the game will get more and more interesting as you play it. Just don't let the bugs let you down, so get ready with that bug spray.

    Graphics
The tightness of the modelling boundaries are not that well defined, but who cares? The image mapping of the models are spectacular, and the detail of the costumes follow. The detail of the characters and NPC's are something to look forward to, especially the environment and the structures. Wait, that's not all, so wipe the drool off your lips for a moment.

The viewing options of the game is something that may be considered a new aspect to RPG's. You can now play the game in either FPV(First Person View) or TPV (Third Person View). That's something to look forward to since you can, now, place yourself in the character's shoes, witness what he sees, and do what you want him to do through his eyes. Don't worry about the detail, it doesn't change.

    Sound
I don't need to go into detail regarding this, but I can tell you frankly that the sounds are shockingly very detailed that distance is incorporated to the volume. As you go near the object that's making the sound, the louder the sound gets. I know that it's not really new, but listening to it with a 5.1 surround system, exhibits the absolute advantage of the game.

    Replay Value
You won't need it. The game is long enough to last a lifetime, and as long as your character is alive the game progresses. You may want to play it using the different combinations of races and job skills, but you might end up playing this until you've aged 5-8 years.

In short, there are numerous combinations you can use, and each combination can create an entirely different plot for you.

    Overall
The game is definitely a must-buy RPG, but you may want to reseach on the ways on how to get around the bugs.
