-graphics - interface -gameplay - races -real time battles -complex
Graphics : outdated and nothing nice (mainly text to look at). Even intro is "cheap" and ugly. You're stuck in 800*600 resolution. In battles, ships are Tiny and Ugly
Interface : big shock there, interface is very clumsy and very unintuitive.
Gameplay : AI can take care of 90% of the game, and you CANT micro manage like others games of this kind. Game gets boring FAST.
- Hard to manage fleet, hard to figure what's going on with research, hard to understand what's going on with diplomacy (war then peace with no reason). Right now the computer just CANT attack your planet.
Like I've read somewhere, this game is a slap in the face to Master of Orion 1 & 2 fans.
Did anyone actually playtest this thing for fun?
Where to start...
First of all, the terrible UI. There are too many layers of menus to wade through, and related functions are several menus apart. No context sensitive help at all. The master's notes attempt to train you to use the unwieldy interface, but it's not helpful enough to offset the awkward UI. It's not intuitive at all for the new player.
Then we have the AI. If you turn off the Senate victory option, it is impossible to lose the game without committing suicide. The enemy AI will not attack your planets unless it's in the same system as one of their systems.
Tech tree... they turned it into a tech matrix, and there's just WAY too much. In one turn, I got reports that 4 technologies were now "visible", 4 more were being "prototyped", and I had actually discovered 1 technology. Oh, and you can't control which technology you actually get. You set ...
