THE BAD:
Nothing bad really. But guess what? Some puzzles were easy and some were hard! Don't understand why people use the puzzle element to give a good or bad remark. Don't they understand you cannot have puzzles written for each individual! I used a walkthrough to solve one puzzle. That's it. But does that mean it was too hard? Does it mean all the other puzzles were too easy? Of course not. I did not include the puzzle element in my score because it is such an individual thing.
SUMMARY:
Everything in this game was brought together so perfectly I believe it must have been accidental! How could a game of such quality: graph...
THE BAD:
SUMMARY:
The Longest Journey is a great PC game which features a cool story line and wonderful graphics. It's about saving the world again, though on a slightly different way... Your mission is not to defeat a terroristic gang or stuff like that, but I won't really tell you all the spoilers. ^-^
One of the best things is that you can't die. The adventure is always about strategy and puzzles, which makes it pretty cool. Though you will need to use a walktrhough all the time, seeing as it's extremelly difficult. Anyway, you should really try this out!
THE BAD:
The foul language and homosexuality in the game really brings down my review. I would have rated it a 5 if it weren't for those issues.
SUMMARY:
This game is the perfect fairy-tale. However, it's one you can't share with your family due to the filthy talking and homosexuality aspects. There are entire conversations I skipped over because I noticed in the subtitles that they were setting up for some obscenities. I'm not talking about the "standard" swearing you run into in games and movies nowadays. I'm talking about the vulgar four-lettered words you usually only hear in the ghettos. The homosexuality in the game is offensive as well, and I was forced to skip through those scenes as well. I don't care to hear that filth.
Aside from that, it would be an amazing game. The storyline is intriguing and detailed. The character building is superb, you learn to like and hate the characters. ...
THE BAD:
The ending.
SUMMARY:
After all the cryptic nonsense they feed you throughout the game, the ending was more than a bit pathetic. The mysterious hints certainly got my attention, although it was not well deserved. I found the ending to be quite a let down. While it didn't make everything you did throughout the game completely pointless, it did make it much less meaningful than it let on. It was entertaining, but I'm glad I got it used instead of wasting more money on getting it new...
THE BAD:
Too much unnecessary dialog. Left wing propaganda intrudes on gameplay.
SUMMARY:
Even worse than the slow, meaningless dialog, and snotty main character, is the unending stream of ultra-liberal, left wing propaganda. This game is a feminists dream world where the evil white man and the corporate world are blamed for all evils that have befallen mankind. Give me a break! If I want to hear a lot of liberal clap trap I can watch network news for free. Save your money.
THE BAD:
Nothing bad to say about this work of art at all!
SUMMARY:
I have played many many adventure games over the past two or three years, and this one still makes me sigh with pleasure when i think back to it. It is thoroughly entertaining, with so many different characters and breath taking landscapes. Attention to detail is fantastic. No way can this game ever be referred to anything shorter than an epic, it is truely huge. You can walk and explore just about anywhere you want too.
All in all The Longest Journey kept me entertained for a good couple of months and I was sad to have to part with the company of April Ryan when the game finally ended. I have yet to find another game that will keep me as riveted as this one did. Well done to everyone who made this the best game ever!
THE BAD:
Puzzles are a bit too easy. The hard puzzles are only hard because no clues are given as to how to even start solving them. Some of the monsters should be better animated. I am never really frightened for April at all. "Where's that fear factor that I should be feeling during this major storm or huge monster chase scene?"
SUMMARY:
While the game and the story itself is wonderfully built and detailed, the puzzles are not very difficult at all to solve (if worse comes to worse, I use the Bladerunner Game's tactic of simply talking to everyone, touching everything, and trying to combine or use everything). I'd like to have to use my brain a bit more. But my love for the worlds created here as well as the storyline make me give it a four. Not a bad game at all, and I recomend it....
THE BAD:
Some of the puzzles are pretty tough.
The game takes a while to get rolling.
April ain't on my list of video game girls.
Ending left me wondering.
SUMMARY:
This is a great game! It comes with a truly woderful story with unbelievable graphics to back it up. The game's like a snowball on a hill. It takes some time for it to gain momentum. Once it does, it's awesome. It's too bad gamers didn't get enough exposure to this game. It was one of the best games of the year when it cameout in my opinion. Too bad. By thew ay, the ending's interesting if you really get into it.
P.S. April looks butt-ugly on close-ups. (At least, it's detailed?)
THE BAD:
April just looks dirty close up (check out that HAIR) and I don't like how the maker expects me to get inside his mind. Some of the puzzles have no hints or tips, so how am I supposed to know what to do? It's impossible.
SUMMARY:
Like I said in the Bad, the whole "read my mind" thing is way uncool.
THE BAD:
Loooong Dialog. Takes quite a while to get going.
Puzzles are occasionally very tough.
SUMMARY:
Wow. This game took me a little while to get into. The game has a lot of dialogue, and the early portion of the game simply has lots of it, which are required to understand the storyline. So, chapter one and chapter two (out of thirteen total) were pretty slow.
After that, the story really took hold, and whew, I was not really stopping whenever I started playing this game. Gripping is the adjective I'd use.
The storyline is such a wonderful cross between science fiction and fantasy that I'm almost surprised that no one has really used it in a computer game before. It's by far the best part of a pretty polished and well-packaged game.
Graphics are gorgeous, and the music is haunting at times.
Complaints - dialogue is HUGE, and lo...
