THE GOOD:
1. This game is completely open-ended. With the editor utilities, you can do anything and I mean it! Want a civie to shoot some stupid dog? You can do it! Anything! Not just within the game realities (like FPS actions... ANYTHING!

2. This game is very good online. The MP maps are infinite, meaning you can hvae any kind of map you want.

3. Controls are quite easy.

4. It's coming for Xbox!!!

5. Great editor!

6. Very realistic.

THE BAD:
1. Biggest drawback... you need a tremendously powerful computer to run this game. I mean very powerful> Best graphics card, best Processor, very, very expensive stuff.

2. There are a lot of people online at all times, some of these people take the game too seriously. Cultural differences can sum it up.

3. Not too great of graphics. Even with a top-notch computer.

4. Annoying voices, but it can be fixed! Editing time!

5. Editor is extremely hard to use. Any non-computer nerds will not be satisfied with what they create. Too much scripting. But then again, that makes it all the more powerful.

SUMMARY:
Just look at good/bad. The expansion packs to this game make it all the better.

THE GOOD:
Its fun, and realistic.

THE BAD:
It's difficult for some gamers as usual.

SUMMARY:
I didn't really get to play it, but from the looks of it when my Father played it quite often, I think it's a great title. I played the one for the Xbox, and that was fun. I really suggest getting the other Operation Flashpoints first, especially Red Hammer, where you're a captured bad guy. I think this one looks great, still good like the others, vehicles and all. It gets a high approval rating from me. It gets the 4 out of 5.

THE GOOD:
Truely a 1st person shooter. Mimics real life on the battlefield. The editor is very goood.

THE BAD:
Helicopter flips upside down when sitting on the ground on occasion. Map view doesn't show elements of your platoon.

SUMMARY:
I have compulsively played this game for a month now. I have made scenerios with the editor and played them extensively, so I think that I am now in the position to offer some constructive comments. I personally feel that this game is the best of it's kind that I have ever played. This game makes me feel that there is almost an infinate choice of 1st person actions in this game. I have set up scenerios that allow me to plant tanks, choppers, and jeeps that I can use at my convience.
Now for the bugs.
First the editor needs much better documentation. There are several functions that the editor offers that isn't covered in the editor documentation. Second, I hate getting killed from a soldier halfway across the map. I wish that the game would allow the user invincibility while testing out a new scenerio. Also the enemy seems to be awfully good shots, they seem to nail the choppers consistantly. One really bad bug is that the choppers will flip over and the rotor is still turning, and it is nearly impossible to right it again without restarting the game. Another real annoyance is when I dismount my tank, the driver moves the tank to some other location. I have been killed by the moron running over me at times, very annoying. Another problem is the health status of platoon members not updating very quickly or at all. A perfectly healthy trooper is in red showing injury, after he has been healed. Another problem is that the platoon members are difficult to identify when in the turn out mode on the tank. the cursor won't show their identity unless you press an "F#" key. Also the game needs to show you where a grenade is going to land before you throw it, because perspective is not good in the game so we need some help. Also the editor should allow the user to set up the gear allotment for each unit in the scenerio. It is a real hassle to trade equipment once you are in the scenerio. You can be killed while picking up a clip at the ammo dump.
All of this said, I still consider this the best game I have ever played of this gendre.

THE GOOD:
The best game I have ever played.

THE BAD:
Not really any, except it's kind of hard. But I love a challenge.

SUMMARY:
This is the kind of game that is so cool to play that you dont want to use cheats. It's hard and realistic. The graphics are sweet and the sound is to. I like the way how you can do optional things to complete missions, and the mission builder is one of the best out there and it's so cool. The number of things you can do can keep you busy for months. Good work guys and keep it up.

PC  If You Want Realism This Is It 4.5

THE GOOD:
Realism, plain and simple, if you don't wanna sign on the dotted line (like I have), but still want to know what's it like to be a soldier this is it.

THE BAD:
Most of the complaints I've heard are from people who want games that no computer on earth could run, you have to make sacrifices to have good games, deal with it.

SUMMARY:
Alright so first off, what right do I have to review this game. First I'm an Army ROTC Cadet I've fired a lot of the weapons in this game myself, I wear the uniform, ride the vehicles and have experienced a lot of the things in this game (minus being shot at obviously). Second, I've been playing wargames since I was 5. If it's out there I've probably played it or at least have some clue about it. So basically, I know firsthand what the items in the game are capable of, and can compare what's in this game to most other games out there.
The first thing most people are going to whine about in this game is the graphics. Apparently some people want a game that is 3D, allows you to do everything possible on earth, and still manages to run on a Pentium II. The real world doesn't work that way. More importantly last time I checked when a Russian PK machine gunner is going cycling on your squad i don't think you care how many pixels are in the dirt as it splashes around your head. The graphics in this game are decent, they're not gorgeous, but they get the job done.
Gameplay, if this isn't your first concern in a game, why are you playing it. Plain and simple Op Flash is the most realistic wargame out to date. If you want to know what it's like to be walking down a road with your squad and suddenly have bodies ripped apart around you by an enemy ambush buy this game. There's a reason the Marines use this game to train, it's true to life. You can't run around firing clip after clip like a psycho. You have to use teamwork, cover, and tactics, if not you'll probably learn every quote that shows up when you die in the game, trust me I've seen them enough times. This game isn't easy, but you can learn quick if you just pay attention and watch your mistakes. Beware this is not stupid AI, they will slam your entire squad in a heartbeat if you don't keep your eyes open.
One of the coolest feature of this game has to be the ability to control any vehicle. I love using the mission editor throwing a few various vehicles and men in, making an enemy force and just messing around with all the different tools. You can do anything from fly Apaches to hop in a Gunboat. This is a great feature, one of the best experiences has to be being on a covert ops mission, jumping in a Russian Hind and destroying their vehicles with their own chopper.
Quick sum up: If you wanna be a soldier without being crazy enough to sign on the dotted line like I have check this game out, it's worth the price. There's a bunch of addons and mods on the net to check out that increase the replayability of the game, there's also a mission editor included, this game will stay on your hard drive for a long time if you give it a chance.

THE GOOD:
Realism, vehichles, multiplayer interface, game options can be reset on the fly.

THE BAD:
unnecesarilly complex manipulation of some objects. EAX sound inaccurate.

SUMMARY:
I'm not sure why so many people are so impressed with this game and its scope which includes the
ability to drive and occupy vehichles. The Hidden & Dangerous and Tribes games have been doing this
for over three years now. Granted the maps are bigger in OFP, it is almost identical to the
H&D games' structures and features but with the addition of multiplayer. Perhaps I just haven't played it
enought yet to discover any significant differences but it sure has a suspiciously strong
resemblence to Hidden & Dangerous in many, many ways. I think there is a link there somewhere.

I was really hyped for this game and expected alot but I was disapointed to see that it was
little different from the H&D games that I had already played a few years ago. Actually, the graphics
in OFP don't appear to be any different in quality either. What I do notice is that OFP is very choppy
even at reccommended settings and lower. I happen to have the exact system specifications
that the game recommends for optimal game play (yeah right) which is PIII 600, 128 mb RAM
and GForce Ultra 32 mb graphics card, but this is an over-used and now expected knock because
every game company exagerates their game's ability to run optimally on a given system. But that still
doesn't justify the misleading advertisement.

Other small things that bother me is (for example) when I walk up to a 50 cal. gun implacement, I can't just
use the damn thing. I have to select the option to use it from a pop up menu of actions which
I think is rediculous for these types of items. Also, the lack of visiual effects and details prohibit a
more emersive feeling of interaction with the environment, notably no breaking glass or bullet
holes. However, a really nice touch that I can watch over and over again is when a jeep flies
through the air when hit with a tank round and settles somewhere nearby. That is definitely cool.

I do think this is a good game though but not the "new level" of gamming that so many people
are claiming it is. If you've never played the H&D or the Delta Force games, OFP may seem like
the best thing to come along in a while. But to others like myself it is nothing new... and it still
lacks the significant refinement to bring it up to par with some aspects of other games like it that have been on
the market for a while already. Furthermore, for the amount of time that has passed, I expected something with
many more cool and never-before-seen features and qualities. The combat sound effects are lacking
also. There is nothing like the chill I get from hearing a bullet whiz by my head... which I have yet to hear.
They could have taken some cues from Land Warrior in this department.

See you in the trenches.

Booger
