THE GOOD:
first person shooters rarely occupy women long enough to pass the first level, (they are rarely good enough to do so anyway) but this one is different... makes you wonder if they really are reading the conglomerate minds of the average consumer....

SUMMARY:
absolutely beautiful. nothing has ever kept my attention for so long... even my wedding.
my other half got it for himself, but i play it more than he does. we fight over it a fair bit actually... but seriously... gameplay is neverending, the characters have a personality, and you actually have to think, and make people like you! i know, i should be thinking "i do this all day at uni, so why do it here too?" but its more FUN here... i can kill people and not be arrested! it is the epitome of thrill. its weird, and strange and at the same time its oh-so-possible and its that element of "it might just happen" thats locked inside it thats gonna have me playing it over and over again!
enjoy it my friends, i know i did!

PC  Deus Ex: Too Good to be True? 5.0

THE GOOD:
Deus Ex is an exceptional...um,1st person, Sci Fi RPG.
The game is very realistic, based on dialog, game motives, and attention to detail. Although it's a Sci- Fi RPG, let alone set in the future, Every aspect of the game is beliveable, and nothing leaves you guessing(except the plot).

THE BAD:
One of the only problems I can think of is bad performance on older machines. But if your CPU can stomach it, don't hold back.

SUMMARY:
If you like "The Matrix", then you'll like the main character, JC Denton, who is clad in a black trenchcoat and sunglasses. Deus Ex lets you travel to places like New York City, Hong Kong, and Paris, to try and conquer terrorisim by groups like the NSF, and MJ12. With numerous people to get info from, weapons and items to use, you can complete the game the way you want to. You can also have fun eating candy bars, guzzling sodas, flushing toilets, invading the Womens Restroom, smoking(not really fun), throwing things at people, and my favorite thing of all, using a Flamethrower to light your enimies aflame, and watching them run around screaming, with smoke trailing behind, until they fall to the ground... barbecued.
If you like First Person Shooters,
Destroying Terrorisim,
and Being Doubled Over With Laughter,
Then Deus Ex is Perfect For You.

THE GOOD:
Pretty much everything

THE BAD:
It ends

SUMMARY:
This game is just one of those games that you play all the way through, then you finish the game then you try to imagine what else you're going to do. The concept of the game is this: get a mission, get some primary and secondary goals, accomplish them any way you want. Complete your goals, you get skill points that can be used to improve your skills. Explore and find aumentation canisters to become stronger, faster, stealthier, and resistant to damage. Find upgrade canisters to make yourself even better. Simply put: this game rocks. You start out with a riot prod and either a rifle, crossbow, or GEP gun. You end with enough weapons to take on an army. The story is constantly changing, but unfortunately the endings leave much to be desired.

Bottom line:

This game rocks and I can't wait for Deus EX 2.

THE GOOD:
Character development, good plot and good story. A good gameplay that come from System Shock 2.

THE BAD:
Need a very good computer to play it.

SUMMARY:
I like science-fiction, I don't like RPG but this one is special. It combine RPG and FPS together. I like better to upgrade a cyborg than a warrior in a medieval in a RPG because the system upgrade in Deus Ex is more realistic than other RPG. There is a lot of interesting technology stuff.

Recommended to everybody, don't forget:we mustn't play this game like a FPS we must use strategy.

THE GOOD:
most things, multipul ways to achieve goals, mold you agent any way you want, weapons

THE BAD:
not in this game

SUMMARY:
lets start with the basics, there are alot of things in this game which have never been done in a first person shooter, for one you can pic from 4 or 5 models for your character, ranging from a very pale albino dude, a typical white or black hero, true they have the same face but its on of alot of cool things. You can also choose the name of your character, every one in the game uses your default code name (JC Denton, or just JC) but the real name you choose is used in emails and documents. yeah i know these are little touches, but they are great.

The gameplay is the most varied and versitile i have every come across, it is primarily a shootem up, but it is soo much more, ill explain, at the very start you are given a certain amount of skill points, you gain additional skill points for completeing objectives, explaration bonuses, progression and for helping people. what do you do with these points, perpare your self, it is similar to a rpg where you can level up, in this way you can use skill points to upgrade your basic abilities, (such as close combat, rifles, pistols, lockpicking, but ill go into more detail on his abilities later), which is very odd in a shootem up but is pulled of expertly,

like every other shooter you are given objectives, primary which have to be completed to progress further, and secondary objectives which are like sidequests. to add more depth then any other shooter has or probably ever will, you have abilities which you can updrage to be come a better, these include, computer hacking, electronic bypassing, lockpicking, rifle effeciency, pistol, explosive, close quarters, and more. You are basically a man/machine and because of this your systems and be added to, these are called augmentations, you can get cool things like a the ability to become invisable at the cost of energy of course, detonate rockets fired at you so they dont hit you, and create flying probs which fire emp weapons, very cool stuff, there are more, alot more.

What this all means is that you can make your character anything you want, you can make him a killing machine by getting armour augs, nd by incresing your stats in weapons, or you can become a like a shadow, and kill people silently, or a mix of both it is just up to you.

The game draws you in like no other, you get sucked into the world and actually go through the emotions as you uncover conspiricies, are betrayed by your closest friends, and joy when you find the truth. but its not just about the new features, oh no, there are so many things to do, and so many varities of missions, you could to play this game like 5 times through and it would end differently every time, there are just that many options. it will never get old, youll always find something new if you do it a different way.

and whats even better now is that you can buy this game for like Ł15 from most shops, what a deal

PC  Deus Ex...X-Underrated 4.3

THE GOOD:
The Storyline, the arsenal, the complexity of levels, the ambience, the music, the length of the game. It's just like playing a character in an espionage movie.

THE BAD:
The 3 different endings suck, can get frustrating in places (especially if you lose the use of your legs!) characters' lips don't move in time with their speech.

SUMMARY:
Deus Ex has got to be one of the most underrated games of all time. People say the graphics suck, well, I'm not sure what type of graphics card they're using, but they aren't that bad. Compaired with alot of games, the graphics are pretty good. But it seems that the people who knock this game, only focus on that "flaw".

The storyline is fantastic, there are many twists and turns, and you don't know what to expect next. This game has the best storyline on the PC so far. JC Denton (who is the hero of the game, and possess the "rough" voice adopted by Solid Snake and Max Payne) has a large array of weapons, such as the Sniper, GEP, Flamethrower, Assualt Rifle, Crossbow and anti-tank launcher to name but a few. The atmosphere is fantastic, and the levels are very well designed. The music changes depending on what situation you're in, be it fighting with the enemies, or in a cut scene, and the composition is something the designers can be proud of. The game itself will keep you occupied for hours. There is no "quick way" to end this game!

Now the bad points. There are 3 different endings to this game, and to be honest, they are crap. You work your way through this "movie-style" game, to wind up with a 2 minute ending (if that), and they don't even explain much. Also, the creators haven't done very good "speech-lip movement" co-ordination, as sometimes the characters are speaking without moving their lips! Also, the game can get frustrating in places, you may find yourself doing the same things over and over again, and if you get teamed up on, you can pretty much sentanced to game over.

But Deus Ex needs a little more respect. It IS a brilliant game that people should recognise, even though it has been out for quite a while now. Deus Ex 2 soon...let's hope for an improvement on it's few shortcomings.

THE GOOD:
People seem to like it!?

THE BAD:
Well, basically all of it

SUMMARY:
The graphics are terrible, with all the green coluor slowly moulding into a colour, poor lighting effects, and no sense of blending colours. The gameplay is slow, all the death scequences for everyone, no matter who, are the same. The sounds are dreadful, from the screams of pain (normally coming from me as i torture myself by remembering that i actually paid for this trash), which are all th same to the rubbish sound effects.

THE GOOD:
Very immersive game combining role playing, action, tactics, brains, and one heck of a plot

THE BAD:
Graphics too dark; voice acting mixed; AI is good but falls short of "almost human"

SUMMARY:
I love this game! The graphics are quite good (especially some of the models), the world is overflowing with characters to talk to and things to interact with, and you have plenty of choices within the overall story. The system of developing skills and augmentations also makes for a character with both strengths and weaknesses, which forces you to strategize and also makes your character more believable; you *become* J.C. Denton. The physics is quite realistic, the use of tools and objects is very sensible, and non of the sci-fi stuff seems contrived. On my 850MHz Celeron/GeForce 2MX it runs smooth most of the time, but chops a bit when the action gets too heavy. Still, it's playable. If you get this game, you will have a lot of fun.

THE GOOD:
Deus Ex has a great plot line with many twists and turns as well as tons of futuristic weapons and bad guys.

THE BAD:
Sometimes it is hard to manueever, and bad guys often appear out of nowhere, making the game annoying at some points in the beginning.

SUMMARY:
This game is excellent, and any action lover needs this game in their collection.
