THE GOOD: The good about this is that features one MLB player from every baseball team. You can either create your own team or pick a MLB team, like the Indians, the Mariners, the Yankees (etc). I love to play the season mode because that's where you own and have your fantasy team. The stadiums and fields are all amazing and have cool features and backgrounds. I also have fun creating my own character.THE BAD: The bad is that the graphics aren't very better from the 2001 version. The baserunners also go pretty slow. I mean, even the fastest guy (like Pablo Sanchez) runs like a fast, and very lucky turtle. Also, in the football version, you can earn points by using your character to get your team wins and stuff like that. But in Backyard Baseball 2003, you can't even earn a nickel in that game. Also, I think some of the girl players (Maria Luna, Kimmy Eckman, Luanne Lui, Ashley and Sidney Webber, and Vicki Kawaguchi) all should be out of there. It's like having 3-year olds playing in the majors. SUMMARY: Overall, I give it a 3.5 out of 5 because it is a fun and great game, but lacks graphics, fast road runners, gaining experience points, and some of the girls' talents. I would get the game, but know that some of the game lacks. But most of it rocks! |

THE GOOD: Nice graphics for the year, somewhat hard, decent depth.THE BAD: Goofy looking players, background needs work, needs a more in-depth season. SUMMARY: Backyard Baseball 2003 is not the game that requires a lot of skill, but once you are in the world series, which will take a while, it can be a pretty decent game for the buck.
Graphics: 3/5: Even though Ichiro and Derek Jeter don't look nearly like their younger more agile selves, it is quite good since it has been two years since its release.
Gameplay: 2/5: What really brings the grade down is the fact that it is only a 16-game season, and also the fact that the game is somewhat hard, but is a lot easier than most of the games these days.
Sound: 4/5: For the exception of the continuous same phrases, the sound is not all that bad considering the crack of the bat and everything is on cue.
Long-Lasting Appeal: 3/5: Not a game that would last a year, but a good game to play once in while when you see it lying around somewhere.
Replay Value: 0/5: No replay so no grade, which dropped it down a point.
Overall: 3.75/5(3.8): This game is enjoyous for a while, but it would last about six or seven weeks top, then it is time to wrap it up. A good game for that while, but not a recommended one.

| Backyard Baseball centers on developing baseball teams, all with young kids. Some of these are the young version of real baseball professionals, which was one of the more interesting things I saw throughout my time playing it. The game is generally tagreted for younger kids, but I still enjoyed it somewhat. There are many players, mostly preselected. I also like the 'create player' option which allows you to customize your own players. You can do nearly everything in your power while creating a character, such as height differences, weight differences, gender, hair style, hair color, nickname. But the most important part to balance is the skills, for you have to spread them out evenly enough among ther five variables to get the best results on the court. If you happen to come across this game, I can't say I'd tell you to get it. I think it is very difficult to create an adequaterly realistic baseball simulation game, and this one is one of the more simple attempts that have been made. I'msure a good baseball simulation will come along one of these days, but until then, stay away from this one. |

THE GOOD: Has A wide selection of players includinbg many out of the major leagues.THE BAD: There really isnt a really hard mode on this game SUMMARY: Graphics: 7/10 its not that bad for the pc but sometimes the characters look a little off while standing in the field.
Sound: 7/10 the sound is fine it s just the commentary that gets on your nerves.
Gameplay:7/10 The controls are farily easy its just its hard to catch flyballs most of the time and the players dont move that fast in the field which is kinda annoying Overall:7/10 its a fun childrens title. |
