BackgroundDispensing with the traditional 2D, one-on-one fighting genre the Street Fighter series is largely responsible for, the franchise takes a new turn with Street Fighter 2010: The Final Fight. The game stars Ken, a former world class Street Fighter, as a side-scrolling action hero, complete with platforms to jump on, surfaces (such as walls, plants and cliffsides) to grasp, bosses to battle and aliens to punch and kick. Futuristic Ken is nicely animated as he leaps around and clings to walls, but he handles unresponsively, and his fighting style is an ill-conceived, unwieldy amalgamation of punching, kicking and shooting. Capcom is capable of much better than this.
