THE GOOD:
The main character is named Brian (BOOYA!).Its just fun to play. Colorful places and people with tons of spells. You can max one element right off the bat, but good luck if you find a monster tolerent to it.

THE BAD:
If you fail to take the time to fight and level up then you may find yourself far outclassed by a boss.

SUMMARY:
The difficulty of this game may turn many people off. And random battles really do get on your nerves. All RPGs could laarn from Aidyns Chronicles system of starting a fight.

THE GOOD:
Very fun to play
Good music
Unique monster designs

THE BAD:
Not very impressive graphics for people who only care about graphics
May seem too simple
Bosses can be very difficult to beat

SUMMARY:
I think this game is definitely underrated. People treat it like it's the worst RPG ever made. Sure, it's no Final Fantasy, but it's still a good game. I started replaying the game recently. I was 13 years old when I first got it, and now I'm 19.

The only thing that I don't like about it is that the bosses are too difficult. The game is quite short and there's only a few bosses to fight. But it seems longer because a lot of the bosses are really tough, especially Nepty, the water-elemental boss. It took me a week to beat her.

I reccomend this game to anyone who doesn't really care about storyline or graphics and just wants a fun game to play.

Okay, I want to explain something here.

Gameplay - 1 --> Like many other role-playing games, this game has a _very_ common problem that no RPG has ever been able to correct.

THERE ARE STILL TOO MANY RANDOM BATTLES!

Now, I'm going to soung cynical, but this problem is common among numerous RPGs, and frankly, we need someone to fix it. You'll be even lucky to even go 20 steps and _not_ run into a battle. One minute, you're walking in a cave, the next minute, you're in the previous inn. THQ obviously funded this problem, instead of stopping it. STOP THE INSANITY!!

Story - 2 --> This whole "save the world" bit is _way_ too overused, and you know it. How's about something original, people?!?!?!?!?!?!?

SFX/Music - 3 --> The sound effects are for little 4-year-olds, and the music is for babies. Hey, THQ, how's about somethin' more mature?

Graphics - 10 --> This and one more reason why this game is a must. At least THQ could get good eye candy.

Replayability - 10 --> For the hardcore RPGer mostly. Anyone else would be a 5.

Overall - 6 --> This game is babyish. Real RPGs have tough language and less battles.

RENT OR BUY FIRST? - rent --> If it wasn't for the graphics, than this game wouldn't be worth playing at all.

N64  Too Good for a Title 5.0

THE GOOD:
Gameplay, Battle System, Monster and Item Variety, Environment, Strategic Value

Gameplay-This game is fun and can be hard to put down, even when you are bored of it

Battle System-Easy to learn and requires strategic thinking based on many things including enemy size, enemy location, and much more

Monster and Item Variety-Monsters that fight you come in many different shapes and sizes and have different weaknesses based on many different things, and the Items you acquire also come in a large variety, each do something different, possibly even adding to this games Strategic value

Environment-not only will you stare in awe at the Endless lines of mountains, enormous patches of forests, and boundless oceans in the background, but the environment itself can be an obstacle or advantage point in Battle, you could find yourself backed in a corner with no escape or on top of a cliff looking down on your helpless enemies, also, dungeons make it extremely easy to get lost or turned around in if you aren't careful

Strategic Value-self-explanitory

THE BAD:
Music, Dialogue, Graphics

Music-the Music is of Average Value and can be annoying at times, however it can be turned off at anytime in a pause menu

Dialogue-the text in Dialog makes an annoying sound, however this too can be gotten rid of by pausing the game and going to the same place where you can turn the music off, and switching the dialogue option to MAX

Graphics-more along the lines of 'typical of the N64' rather than bad, similar to some other famous N64 titles such as Super Mario 64 and Donkey Kong 64

SUMMARY:
I truly cannot think of any reason whatsoever to hate this game at all, Also alot of people have said this game has no storyline whatsoever which is actually untrue the first person you talk to in the game says that you are deadset on finding your father whom has been missing for months

N64  Why Did I Buy This? 1.5

THE GOOD:
Um...let's see, the good. Um...uh...it's...long? It's really, really, really long, so while you're waiting for another Zelda or Final Fantasy, this gives you something to do.

THE BAD:
It's...long. Long can be good and bad. Long gives you something to do, but it's also boring. This game gets too hard at times, too.

SUMMARY:
This game's weird. I've played it about 5 times; I still don't know what it's about. Some boy goes to...um...do...something. It's hard at times, though, and so very boring. You must admit, though, the temple in the desert is cool, (Did I just give away something important?) and the music in Brannoch and the Isle of Skye is awesome. I remembered the names of those places, so that's a good sign. The enemies are stupid, though. I mean seriously. There's a flower with lipstick. *shudder* Oh, horrors!

THE GOOD:
the good things are good story, and monsters and people made it like real life back then. great rpg game lets you do what you want to do and when. You choose were to go and when. also the quest is challenging so that way people dont beat the game in a day. stragigy is a great strangth to have and know what the weaknessess are for all monsters.

THE BAD:
the bad thing about it was that is did not sell for long. and another thing that is bad is not many people have it in good working condisin. Also not many want to sell.

SUMMARY:
the best n64 games made next to ogre battle 64.
the set up of the attacks and the graphics are brillent, but in other reviws i read the weapon choose is bad. another thing is that weapon that he holds is the only way he could summon his magic.
quest 64 is a must have and keep it too.

THE GOOD:
Has a good battle system, easy to learn.

THE BAD:
The music, graphics and storyline.

SUMMARY:
I bought this game way back in 1996, but I still haven't beat it. The game can get frustrating, but then again, most games do. I've heard better music from out of tune polka bands, and they play the same songs over and over and over again. I would suggest playing with the T.V. muted. However, the battle system is pretty cool. It would be better if it were more simple but hey, I can handle it. It dosen't take long to learn either. Don't take it as an RPG though. It just can't stand up to the many other RPG's. What did you expect, it's an N64 game. Overall, this game rocks, but has some major flaws that need correcting, so I can't give it a perfect score. I would like to see this come out for the Gamecube, only better.

THE GOOD:
1. It's actually exciting when you reach the top of Castle Brannoch
2. Hey, at least they have items
3. Reasonable music
4. Lots of files
5. Plenty of tecqniques
6. The tecqnique design varies (bad and good)
7. Once you beat it, you can still collect the spirits
8. Good character design

THE BAD:
1. No voices, text only
2. Some characters flick me off
3. Man, what you have to go through gets really boring

SUMMARY:
Classified or sorted as the only N64 RPG subject game ever published by THQ, whatever that stands for. Recently, the 'Elatale Book' was stolen again, and Lord Bartholomy has gone to pursue it crossing through Loch Kilderey and being dragged into the Baragoon tunnel. Brian, concerned as his son, tries to pursue not only his father, but the 'Elatale Book', reason being, with the book gone, the world will be consumed by evil eventually.

Whether you like this game or not actually depends how many N64 games you have already played, so if you're an advanced player, you could still like it, liably not. If most of the N64 games you played were based on RPG subject, you may like it. It's really mostly in the past whether you like the game or not, but the chances are extremely low that you'll come to say that the game was not worth it, you regretting buying it.

THE GOOD:
Um... I kinda like the character. I think he's cute

THE BAD:
I HATE the fact that you can level up to the max if you want to before you beat even one boss!

SUMMARY:
I think this game is WAY to easy! Not to mention b-o-r-i-n-g! You can level up totally if your bored enough VERY early on. Then the game's too easy! And it's soooo boring...Save this place. Done? Go here and save THIs place. Done yet? GAME OVER

THE GOOD:
The length, Amount of diffirent; enemies, dungeons, and spells.

THE BAD:
Sound, music, ending scene. Story not in depth.

SUMMARY:
Yo this is Immortalize2 here! This was a good game cuz it wuz long. There were also alot of spell casting My personal fav is Wind cuz it does good damage at high levels. And the backround effects were great. But after awhile it gets pretty straightforward so I recmmend this game to Players w/patientets and a lot of it if you want to beat this game.
