THE GOOD:
- Cheap price cost now.
- Alot of badges.
- Alot of recipes.
- Easy game to get into.
- Battle sequences are good.
- The sidequests.
- Bowser is strong for once.
- Great backgrounds.
- Not entirely paper.

THE BAD:
- A limit to HP, FP, and BP.
- The bosses are easy.
- Only 10 items are aloud.
- The game can be beaten in a day.
- Music is mediocre.

SUMMARY:
This game was a good start until they released the second one. This is one of the few N64 games that are still on the shelves with Goldeneye 007, Super Smash Bros, and Mario Kart 64. I recommend this game even though people think it is average I think it is good.(You may want to buy this game because it is almost off the shelves.) This game could have been on the Gamecube if better graphics and sound were available.

N64  Paper Mario 3.0

THE GOOD:
A new type of gameplay, since its not like normal RPG’s, but instead is a 'paper' (2d-ish) type gameplay and graphics. It has some depth to it, which is a good thing since you wont really get that bored with it. Its also quite long, so that’s a plus.

THE BAD:
You have a limit to 10 items that you can carry at once. The game is too easy.

SUMMARY:
Now the fact that this is a Mario RPG doesn’t instantly make it good. Im also not saying that it’s a bad game, its just too easy. The gameplay is fun since you start off as a really weak Mario, but as time advances, so does your ability to make yourself strong and tougher. Its also not a real time game, but instead, it’s a turn-based RPG game. This means that you take turns with each character and select the command and watch them then do the move, of whatever you selected them to do.

There are also lots of different puzzles and stuff that you are forced to solve. With this game being long, then that’s a good thing, since it wont get that boring, and it also means that you can have more fun with it. Also, because of this, it attracts a bigger crowd of players and not just the younger people, since they might take a while to solve sometimes.

Although it seems to be a mediocre game, it still is really fun, so I recommend it to anyone who likes Mario and RPG’s.

N64  Great start on a series 2.0

THE GOOD:
Bowser kills you for once no matter what (but you come back from the dead)
Some of the bosses and places look good, like LavaLava Island and Tubba Blubba Castle.

THE BAD:
Some of the bosses are too easy.
Allies could use some HP.

SUMMARY:
Lastability: 7/10.
When you've beaten Bowser, oops, gotta restart the game. But really, before Bowser, you have to collect stuff like Badges for Mario's attacks, and Super Blocks to power up your allies twice. There's a dojo sidequest, which won't give you EXP, but at least helps you do some other sidequests. However, it's not too long.
Graphics: 9/10.
Very unique, and great for its time even.
Sound: 7/10.
Some of the music is hard to hear sometimes, some of the music isn't worth hearing, but most of the music and sound effect scores are pretty sweet.
Gameplay: 8/10.
Just like in many RPG's, you, ally and enemies will take it in turns to attack. With your boots or your hammer, you'll smash your enemies to bits before they do the same. With your allies behind you, they can get in a few more hits before the boss finally dies, or before Mario dies, whatever comes first. What I don't like is how the allies have no health.
Overall: 3.8/5.0.
This game is a great start to a great Mario spin-off series. I advise getting it right now.

THE GOOD:
Long game

Has some replay value

The graphics are good for paper graphics.

Bowser is fun to fight.

THE BAD:
Some of the bosses aren't too great.

Some of the music could use a little work.

SUMMARY:
Difficulty: Medium

Yes it's Paper Mario the second best Mario RPG (With Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door coming in first place). It's really fun fighting Bowser in this game. I can't describe why it just is. Maybe because he's the final boss. Also I suggest not to trust Chet Rippo. He rips you off. No wonder they call him Chet "Rippo". He may upgrade your HP or FP or BP but he lowers the other two. It's not worth it. Trust me.

I reccomend this game to any Mario or RPG fan. But as I've said before I am not a very big RPG fan but I still enjoyed this game. Buy it.

I rate this game a 4.3/5.

THE GOOD:
A Mario game

An rpg

Fun battle system

Interesting partners

Good plot

Lots of fun stuff to do, and plenty of creative areas

THE BAD:
Some may call the plot "overused", as wrong as they are

This game is rather simple, and may not appeal to everyone, supposedly the gamers who have to have their rpgs be "complex" and "adult like" for them to be enjoyable.

Uh....I'll think of some other stuff eventually. Well, maybe.

SUMMARY:
Well, this is definitely a fun game, and well worth playing. It's a rather simple rpg, but that doesn't stop it from being fun. It may not appeal to everyone, as stated above, but that doesn't mean it's not good. This is, without question, one of the best Mario games. One of the best, ya hear me? ONE OF THE BEST! ONE OF THE BEST!

N64  Paper Mario 5.0

THE GOOD:
- A Mario RPG game for the Nintendo 64
- Good gameplay and controls
- New "paper" graphics
- Good plot
- Almost everything else

THE BAD:
- You can only carry 10 items at a time
- Once people join your party, they lose depth
- A little easy

SUMMARY:
This is definately my favorite Mario game for the Nintendo 64... No, my favorite game for the Nintendo 64! This is a brand new Mario RPG, and everyone should try it.

Notice the name "Paper Mario." They don't call it that for no reason. Nintendo has made a new graphic technique that makes all the characters look paper-thin! The backgrounds, however, are polyginal (sp?). You can move in all directions still. Since the characters are paper thin, you mostly view them from the side. This gives the game not only RPG elements, but platforming elements as well! That's right, sometimes you'll have to hop platforms, or jump over fireballs, and still be able to move in all directions.

The music and sound are what you would expect from a Mario game. Most of the tunes found in the game are original. There's some music from past games as well, though. The sound effects are fine. They're not ear-candy, but they do. Simple sound effects you'd expect from a Mario game.

The gameplay is great. When you first start the game, (no offense to the great Mario), you are a huge weakling. However, as you go along through the game, you can level up your HP, (Hit Points, energy) FP (Flower Points, used for special attacks), and BP (Badge Points, I'll explain that.) As you go along through the game, you'll find badges that do all sorts of neat tricks that can help you defeat enemies. If you want to wear a lot of badges, level up your BP! The more badges you wear, the better chance you have of defeating enemies. The battles are turn-based, and you'll have to use your mind sometimes to defeat enemies. Also, as you go along through the game, you'll encounter characters who will aid you on your quest, and fight with you in battle (only one party member during battle, though ). Included with all this is some puzzle-solving. You'll go through dungeons and castles, and to get to certain areas you'll have to solve puzzles. The puzzles are fairly simple, though.

There's only a few bad things about this game. One of them is that you can only carry 10 items with you at a time! Games like this should let you carry more than that. Also, the characters have a personality before they join your party. When the plot calls for them to speak when they're in your party, their response will be pretty much the same as everyone else in the party, and finally, the game is a little bit easy, but still jolly fun.

The bad points I mentioned do not really effect the game that much. It's still a jolly fun game. If you like Mario and RPG's, look for this in a used game stores. It probably won't cost that much.

N64  I'd Give Mario a Hug, But I Don't Want to Wrinkle Him 5.0

THE GOOD:
This game is so fun. Much, much better than any other Mario game I've played. And all you people love Super Mario 64 so much. What about Paper Mario? Huh? Huh? Is he too flat for you? Huh? HUH? The graphics are good, besides most things being flat. It's challenging and long. Wee!

THE BAD:
I gave it a five. What do you think? *sarcastically* I don't know, Ms. Authoress. What?

SUMMARY:
This game is so fun! The graphics are...um...good, the music is good, it's just good. You can get all these partner dudes to help you. They're cool. You can also buy piggies! But, you can't bring them along on your wonderful adventure of wonderful adventuring. No matter how good you love your piggies, they'll stay behind to wallow in Mario-less misery for the rest of their days...and probably end up in a frying pan. Oh, delicious bacon, clogging my arteries, I love you! Anyway, that's a bit off topic. The bosses are fun in this, and there's Blooper! Yay! He has babies! Um...she...has babies. And they attack, but you fight back with the help of your paper partner and reign supreme over all paper creatures of DOOM! Ahahaha! To cut this review short, this game rocks. Buy it NOW...and look lively. LOOK LIVELY!

N64  It's-a me, Paper Mario! 5.0

THE GOOD:
Brilliantly-styled graphics, amazing gameplay, simple yet effective battle system, wonderful Characters, and heck, it's Mario isn't it?!

THE BAD:
Maybe it can be slightly too cute sometimes...

SUMMARY:
This is the best videogame ever to bless the Nintendo 64. The sequel to the NES classic Super Mario RPG, this game begins with a visit to Princess Peach's Castle, where Bowser traps the two lovers, flies off with the Castle, all the while basically being Bowser. He then fights Mario, but this time, there's a twist. Bowser becomes invincible and triples his power. The biggest catch - HE WINS. Yes folks, Bowser defeats Mario. The story is a delight to follow, with inventive Characters and the good sides of Characters such as Koopas and Goombas who were all previously believed to be evil Bowser-following monsters. With all of its wonderful touches and with a LOT of Items required to complete the game 100%, this is a masterpiece. Even once you have defeated the evil Koopa King in his final form (which can be VERY tough), you can still go back and collect everything, or maybe even attempt it the "Galacticdramon" way - which involves going through the game with a minimum of power...

N64  A very pleasant surprise 4.8

THE GOOD:
The turn-based attack system works very well. Lots of stuff to find and things to do. Fun storyline/characters.

THE BAD:
It takes some time to learn the control system for attacking/defending at first.

SUMMARY:
When I first borrowed this title from my brother and played it, I wasn't too impressed at first-I thought it wouldn't work. But after playing it for a while, I found myself hooked. what's nice first off is that although it's a RPG in many ways, it's still a Mario game first & foremost, so there are still plenty of Koopas, Goombas, & Hammer Bros. around to stomp. Also you can use Mushrooms, Fire Flowers, and all the classic Mario items. Plus you can get different allies like Goombas, Koopas, and Boos to actually fight on your side!
While the control system is easy to use, at first it's confusing because you have to learn to press the action buttons at just the right time or perform various control stick motions to do an atack properly. This is just a little frustrating, but you'll pick it up quickly.
I have to say that this was among the more pleasant surprises in videogames that I played on my N64. It may be an RPG, but it's still a Mario game all the way.
