Like the original, Torment: Tides of Numenera will be a 2.5D isometric, party-based RPG focusd on story-telling and character interaction, as opposed to more modern item-focused RPGs. Players will pick their gender at the start of the game and then customize them as the game progresses depending on their interactions with the world. Three classes, including the Glaive, Nano and Jack, will start players off on a path of highly customized skill and play-style options.
While the game is early in development and story details are unfinished, it's said that the player will be a character who has left their body and attained a new one -- finding a state of immortality in the process. The player, who retains no memories of their past life, must hunt down the master who brought about this transition and combat the Angel of Entroy that wants to eradicate them.
Torment: Tides of Numenera raised over $4 million off of a Kickstarter project with a $9 hundred thousand goal. The initial release date was planned for December of 2014 exclusively on PC, but the title has since been pushed back to late 2015 as a result of the overfunding. More money means more content, after all.
