There have been a lot of fantastic games back in the day. Games like Contra, Ninja Gaiden, Sonic The Hedgehog and, of course, Super Mario Brothers. Then you hit the other side, full of games that aren't mainstream successes. Most of them deserve to be treated like shit because they didn't age well. However, some of them need to be dug out of obscurity and given the respect that they deserve. Meet Wonder Boy. He started as a little caveman, rescuing his wife from aliens, then he had children, and those children had children, all the way to the middle ages, where the Monster World arc of the Wonder Boy series begins. Unfortunately, if you live outside of Japan, that's the end of the line. Don't fret, you're only one game short. But that begs the question; what the hell happened? Why didn't this series catch on with Genesis owners? There's no Zelda or Actraiser on it, so what's going on?! Well, hopefully I can raise awareness with this review.
