THE GOOD: Lots of side-quests, nice leveling-up system, plenty of characters.
THE BAD: Grainy graphics, too short, bad A.I., Uncorapative camera. SUMMARY: When I first got this game I thought "Wow, an RPG on the Gamecube! This is aweosme!". But about three minutes into the game, I found that the game suffered from iffy controls, a bad camera, and predictable enemys. Whitch made me think "Okay, well, it started out on a boat, maybe that's why it's acting this way." So I stuck around. Just to find out it wasn't. . .
This is the world of Summoner: A Goddess Reborn. It's a beautifull, lucious world, filled with magic, wizzards and completely stupid people. I mean, come on! The towns-folk just wonder around town aimlessly, as if they're suffering from amneisia, and wonder where they are! Oh, and your team mates aren't bright, either. "Hey, come back here! Wait, don't hit him, he's not bothering us, yet! Stop walking in circles!" Seriously though, is almost like they don't listen to you, more than they listen to those people in there heads. Oh but don't worry, the enemy's are just as bad, so everything's evend out. Seriously, I mean what guard just stands there as you kill his buddy less than three feet away from him?!
But don't worry, friend. Theyre are some saving qualitys to this. The leveling up system, for instance, is quite good. It allows you to level people up at your own pace, so there's no need to play as a character that has a certain stat out-weighing another. You can just bring up your magic if you're not good with it. Or if you're weak, give your attack level a boost. Or just make your character completely perfect on one thing, while having everything else totaly crappy! (But I don't suggest that.) Plus there's a wide assortment of peoplr to play around the world of Hallasar as. You have eight party members to play as! Plus the THIRTEEN Summons to play as, and the people you can play as in Gladiator mode.
But, as mentioned earlier, the game sufferes from a debilitating lack of good A.I., and it just always feels like someone always WAY outways the other person, strengthwise. It realy only matters what spells you can use. Just find their weakness and pond away. "HA! Take that tree's, with your air produceingness!" See. Fire beats tree demons. So does swords and other sharp objects. But not blunt. . . Plus the camera! No-matter where you move it it always goes right back behind you, making most parts very irritating. And sadly, there's not much reason to play the game again once you're done with it; and the game's only about seven hours long. There are some quests that change depending on your desisions. But, 'eh... There's also some fighting mini games, but those are clunky, and, like I said, one peroson is always outmatched!
But, all-in-all it's a good game. It's got a great story, once you get into it. After a while the plot-points all starts working their ways into one-another. Plus you could find a good one for ten dollars on Ebay. But, I wouldn't suggest buyin it. Just rent, my friend. You should save your money for other, better games, like Resident Evil 4, or Tails of Symphonia.
