THE GOOD: Music Level concepts Character selectionTHE BAD: Controls SUMMARY: The story goes as follows: Dr. Eggman discovers an old, ancient treasure, hidden deep within the confines of a lost city, Babylon, A.K.A.- The Thieves' Hideout. In order to uncover this lost "world", Eggman needs all 7 Chaos Emeralds, so he decides to set up a Grand Prix. When Sonic finds out about this race that Eggman is holding, he quickly rushes to sign up with the aid of Tails and Knuckles.
Controls: Honestly, the controls just aren't worth it. Most of the time, you're technically not the one "racing", as you'll usually be pulled into 10 second scenes where you must rotate the control stick vigourously, launching off of huge ramps and cliffs, and riding others' turbulance.
Music: Sega has never failed us as far as an awesome soundtrack. Sonic Riders consists of mixed techno, as well as old favorites familiar to Sonic fans alike.
Camera: The camera didn't trouble me in the slightest. In fact, it's the best camera control I've seen in all of my days of gaming.
Gameplay: The gameplay will not only have you simply racing, but it will also have you grinding, jumping, and even the occasional running.
Stages: Beautiful sights and bright, vibrant scenes will strike you with awe: They're simply gorgous.
Of course, this game has other Cons as well. This time, there is only two story modes, the Heroes and the Babylons. The game can get very frustrating, especially on the newly designed Mission Mode. Through this new mode, you'll play through various missions for Storm, Wave, and Jet. As if they weren't hard enough, the only way to unlock Super Sonic at the end is if you get all gold emblems on every mission. It's not even worth it, as you need to be Sonic, and you need around 50 rings for it to even work. The Shop was a disappointment, too. I mean, it will take you a good month or two to buy out the entire shop. Most of their boards/skates/scooters/bikes aren't even worth it as far as stats.
Overall, this game is pretty damn good, but I'd seriously save your money for something more worthwhile. |
