An okay game | 2.8 0 comments |
by chickenboy1234 from somers, , | Jun 13, 2005 |
THE GOOD: Fairly long 4 stories Graphics Nice ending boss The teams work nicelyTHE BAD: Hard to follow story All of the levels in each team are the same Sometimes the voice acting is awful
SUMMARY: SEGA has not made me too happy about this game. I mean, it is a fairly good game, but I know that SEGA is capable of putting out a gem like Sonic Adventure 2 and this isn't it. Let me start with the good. When you are going through a level, it feels sort of fast, but not so fast that the level is over in two minutes. The teams are good, and you even have a choice sometimes. If you have a hallway full of robots, you can eiter run through them with speed, (Sonic, Shadow, Amy, or Espio) soar over them with fly, (Tails, Rouge, Cream, or Charmy) or blast them all away with power, (Knuckles, Omega, Big, or Vector,) Now the bad. SEGA decided to make this game just fast fast fast without stopping to think up a story. Bad idea. Also, each team has the same levels, just differed the diffulty.
Verdict: Buy the game if you are a Sonic Fan, if not, don't. |

THE GOOD: Many characters to choose from New moves like Team Blast 2 player! Pretty good graphics
THE BAD: This game is glitched >_< Missions are pretty long....and boring Bad camera
SUMMARY: This is an okay game. Its not the best but its not "that" bad. In this game you can choose from 4 different teams, each team has 3 people in it. Team dark (hardest), Team rose (easiest), Team Sonic and Chaotix (Medium). This move also has a new move in it called the team blast. Once you use it, you cant use it again for a wwhile though, its called Team Blast. It kills all the enemies around you. Sonic Heroes has pretty good graphics, you can even unlock 2 player mode where 2 kids can face off in Racing, fighting, etc games. The bad things are that this game is glitched (ex. you attack enemies and they dont lose HP! They are suppose to). Also the camera switches and switches and it makes the game hard and unenjoyable. BTW the missions get boring, their pretty long you do the same stuff each time pretty much (kill robots). I suggest you rent this game, dont buy it. Its not that fun, after a week or two of playing you will be bored..... |

THE GOOD: ~It includes sonic characters ~Nice Detailed Graphics ~Thats itTHE BAD: ~3 people at a time made badly ~Crappy robots ~Is there a Storyline? It came from the sewers ~The voices are made by CORN ON THE COB very corny ~The music isn't what ears are supposed to hear, like the inside of a public toilet ~Flying formation is a deformed totem pole ~Power formation makes you into balls, mmm... rubber animals ~In speed formation they all have spasms like rabid dogs ~10 minute levels are enough to send you to sleep... and give you nightmares ~You die and go back to the start just like in real life ~Robots have 1 byte memory chips ~It plays like Donkey Kong on the atari and has the same framerate ~Going down hills in tight little balls, call the ambulance! ~Moon physics, go up on rails vertically then fall down to earth 10 seconds later ~Eh? whats the point in the dialogue! "ooh look at the canyon!" "ooh eggman's robots!" ~Spacked up camera angles done by drugged up donkies
I cant list them all here, sorry SUMMARY: How did SEGA churn out this filth!? My only birthday present gone to waste! Its the equivalent of a swolen parcel of dropsies for a present. The game is ONE HUGE GLITCH. Don't let online videos persuade you they give the small amounts of good parts. All the teams say the same "look a robot" said Tails in a whiney voice. "Oooh look at that naughty robot" said the spacker rabbit named cream. And that demented Bee! Who or what is his voice should be terminated. Special moves are senseless. A band playing some instruments and that demented bee won't kill Robots. I suppose Charmy's screech of a voice would.
I can't be bothered to type all the bad points as they are pants. But graphics are great but ruined by Granny speed framerate and jaunty camera angles.
Instead of buying this maggoty corpse of a game get a Sonic Adventure game or Sonic mega collection. A alternative for sonic heroes also includes sticking your face down your school toilet with diarrhea slopped down the edge. Mmmm tasty. |

THE GOOD: nothingTHE BAD: terrible camera angles corny vocies lame boss fights mesed up story line SUMMARY: sonic heroes is the worst sonic game ever made. Not only did it featurecamera angles that were done by a drunken chimpanzee, they also featured very annoying voices, and only 3 voices in the game are decent. The story line is probably the worst feature of them all. Not only doest it not make any sense, it is completely boring and stupid. They also had to put in some of the characters that I hate the most annoying characters ever made in a video game such as big the cat and cream the rabbit. All in all I was pretty disapointed. Save yourself 50 dollars and do not buy this game! Instead buysonic adventure 1 or 2 which is only 20 dollars and is worth every penny. You could even buy the sonic mega collection for only twenty dollars which has features sonics old school games at its finest. |

Three is more than one? | 4.5 0 comments |
by SepheroT from 2d floor of hot, , damn Hell | Dec 2, 2004 |
Introduction: The Sonic Adventure series was an excellent leap from the two dimensional world of Sonic into the three dimensional world. Both games had many strengths, including humungous levels, a plethora of playable characters, and deeply involved storylines. However, each Sonic Adventure had its share of weaknesses as well, including easy and uncreative bosses, horrific voice acting, and those boring treasure hunting levels. When I heard that a third chapter to the Sonic Adventure series was being created, I couldn't help but get excited. But when I learned more about ''Sonic Adventure 3'', I didn't know what to think. A Sonic game where you control three characters at once? I just figured it was a cheap gimmick created by Sonic Team to sell more copies. But then I heard even more information, and what got me excited was the fact that all the levels were based on speed. No idiotic treasure hunting or shooting levels. This got me me excited for Sonic Heroes, and I purchased it as soon as it came out. Does it live up to the hype? Does it surpass its brothers Sonic Adventure 1 and 2? This review will answer all of your questions.
Presentation (9/10): Both Sonic Adventure games presented themselves pretty well. Each opened up with a visually spectacular openining video to wet your appetite. They also had easy-to-navigate screens and menus. How does Sonic Heroes compare? Well, its opening video will definately excite you before you start the actual game. The video shows Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, and the rest of the Heroes cast racing through the humungous levels, while the Sonic Heroes theme song rocks and rolls. The menus are easy to navigate, as well. Yourgreat adventure begins before it even starts.
Gameplay (8/10): Like I mentioned in the introduction, both Sonic Adventure games had great gameplay for the most part. The treasure hunting and shooting levels, as well as the over-simplistic bosses kept the gameplay from being perfect. Since all of Sonic Heroes' levels focus on speed, then the Gameplay has to perfect, right? Well, not quite. There's four teams that you can control: Team Sonic (Sonic the Hedgehog, Miles ''Tails'' Prower, Knuckles the Echidna), Team Dark (Shadow the Hedgehog, Rouge the Bat, Omega the Robot), Team Rose (Amy Rose, Cream the Rabbit, Big the Cat), and Team Chaotix (Espio the Chameleon, Vector the Alligator, Charmy the Bee). Each team has one character for each ''formation'', as the game calls it. For example, Team Sonic uses Sonic for Speed Formation, Tails is used for Flying Formation, and Knuckles is used for Power Formation. While playing through the gigantic envioronments, you must constantly switch characters by pressing the X and Y buttons. It doesn't sound difficult, but at first, it is. It takes around 30 minutes to an hour to get used to the cycling between characters. But on the plus side, the game's levels are humungous. Each level takes anywhere from 6-10 minutes to complete. That's a huge improvement over Sonic Adventure 1 and 2's levels. There are fourteen of those monstrous levels, but each level is different for each team, making it an exciting run each time with a different team. The last question you may ask is, ''How do the bosses of Sonic Heroes compare to the horrendous bosses of the Sonic Adventure games?'' While the bosses of Heroes are a slight improvement over the adventure series' bosses, they definately don't reach my expectations. They are still short and require repetitive attacks to defeat. All in all, Sonic Heroes' gameplay is excellent. A lengthy adventure combined with a decent storyline make it better than the gameplay of Sonic Adventure 1 and 2.
Graphics (8/10): Graphics were never really a problem in any Sonic game to date, including the 2D ones. This holds true with Sonic Heroes. The graphics are a pleasure to look at. Everything from the twelve character models to the environments around Sonic and his friends, you won't find much to complain about. Then why did I give graphics an 8/10, you ask? Well, compared to other GameCube titles, Sonic Heroes' graphics are inferior. While they may still look pretty, they could've been better.
Sound/Music (6/10): Who can forget the cheezy music from Sonic Adventure 1 and 2? Don't worry, Sonic Heroes hasn't left those lame 80's rock riffs. While the level music is spectacular, the theme song of each team, as well as Sonic Heroes' main theme, contains weak lyrics singing to repetitive instrumental music. In addition to our ''favorite'' music from the adventure series, the terrible voice acting has been added in. The only characters I can bear to listen to are Sonic, Knuckles, Shadow, Rouge, and Espio. The rest of the characters have annoying voices that will make you want to mute your television.
Lasting Appeal (9/10): This game's lengthy adventure will keep you playing for a while. But I suggest that you don't play it for five hours in one sitting. If you want the game to last, then pace yourself and play about 2-3 levels with each team per day. You can also try to collect all of 141 Sonic Heroes emblems to unlock new multiplayer settings.
Replay Value (7/10): After you beat Story Mode and collect all 141 emblems, there's really no need to play this game again (unless you absolutely want to). The multiplayer mode is fun if you have someone to play it with.
Presentation: 9/10 Gameplay: 8/10 Graphics: 8/10 Sound/Music: 6/10 Lasting Appeal: 9/10 Replay Value: 7/10
Final Score: 8/10

THE GOOD: there is 3 people to a team you have power speed and flying 3 long story for beating nice graphics super sonic team blastTHE BAD: the checkpoints take forever to get to to hard to get all a's get lives to easy(but im not complaining) use super sonic once
SUMMARY: this game is a good game inspecially if you buy it for a good price. i would buy it over some of the sonic games out there. it also has shawdow and rouge on a team. overall this is an allright game.then you get the super sonic.super sonic looks way better than before but you still use him once and only use him in the sky.you wish you could have him on other parts or use him when you want to but you cant sooo.the bad you can get lives sooo easy. i mean this is good an all but sometimes its to easy. the gameplay can be hard but with the lives you can get come on.team blast is an all new attack.the three team members work together and kills multiple enemys all at once.some team blast even have special effects.like shaedows team blast effect is after team blasts kills all the enemys it stops time for a few seconds.it is hard to get all a's i mean the game play is hard then you have to do 4 additonal missions on top of ones you alredy did. for example like you completed the first mission. then at stage select you have to do on that same mission like get100 rings.then on that same mission you have to not hit walls. you have to do the same mision 5 times but with different objactves.also you can only use super sonic once. wouldnt it be cooler if you could get 50rings and push a and b or something and transform into supersonic.the checkpoints take forever to get to. you have to do tis then that then that. if you die you do all that again untill you find a checkpoint.it has better graphics though. you can even get metal skins in two players. the people look shinyer and realer.it is also a long story so people who like to play long games here is one.you have speed power and flying types. and you have to have alot of stratigies to win.and there is 3 people to a team.you can fight three different ways.overall this game is good. |

A disappointing showing from SEGA's spiky mascot. | 2.9 0 comments |
by Galacticdramon from , , | Aug 25, 2004 |
THE GOOD: Fantastic graphics - as long as it's the GC version. It's fun - for a while. It can sometimes be humourous.THE BAD: Need I even BEGIN the list? The storyline (or what EXISTS of a storyline) The dialogue is sometimes pathetic. Charmy Bee is in the game, and they DON'T kill him off. Where's Eggman as the villain in all of this?! SUMMARY: OK, this game made the whole world rejoice at the news of a new Sonic game. After the phenomenal success of Sonic Adventure 2: Battle, and the questionably high popularity of Sonic Adventure Director's Cut, everyone expected a brilliant showing from Eggman's greatest rival this time. Oh dear - how wrong we all were. This game is TERRIBLE in comparison to SA2:B. What little storyline there is is rather bland (Eggman wants to take over the World, Sonic has to stop him, blah blah blah), and the plot barely even UNFOLDS as you play through the game. There are TWO (count them, TWO) major plot twists - the revelation of the Egg Fleet and the twist near the end of the game. They even had to bring Shadow back, possibly because of his popularity. If I was working on the storylines, I would have said "He is DEAD! Get over it! We'll make his spirit come back to speak to Sonic or something!" - but no. They have to have a pathetic plot of his dilemma which leaves Team Dark's storyline IMPOSSIBLE to perfectly follow after several stages. We also have Team Rose. This is Cream's debut as a playable Character in a 3-D game, whereas Big and Amy (whom the Team was named after) return. WHY??? Hang on - we need a fourth team. So...let's shove Chaotix into the mix. Yes, the team of Espio, Vector and Charmy (no Mighty). WHY CHARMY?! Surely they could have had Vector fire him at the end of the game, and Mighty returning? Then, when you have all of the Emblems, you get...AN EVEN HARDER VERSION OF THE GAME. In Super Hard Mode, you play as Team Sonic, going through the same seuence of Stages for the FIFTH time with no FMVs or Bosses, in an uninteresting mix of all four Stories as far as Level design goes. So, there you have it. A disappointing adventure of frustration, a pointless secret mode, little of a storyline and often pathetic dialogue. If you aren't a major Sonic fan and haven't already purchased a copy of this game - think twice and remember the word of the 'Dramon before you do so. Not good, SEGA - please make something of an effort next time. |

Sonic Heroes: A new wave of Sonic the Hedgehog action? | 3.5 0 comments |
by RockinWithRachel89 from , CA, USA | Jun 16, 2004 |
THE GOOD: -Different and unique characters, but some original characters. My favs are Charmy the Bee, Knuckles the Echidna and Amy Rose.
-Good graphics. The graphics are really awesome. All the tress, clouds, items, etc. are all superb. And just look at all the detail in the Casino stage!
-The 3-character teams. I like that there's a choice of 4 teams, each with a different level of difficulty and a different mission and play mode.
-The music. It's really catchy and nice to listen to.
-The difficutly. It's hard, but not hard to the point that I smash the game in frustration.
-The Team Blast. That move is so awesome and is genius to the game.THE BAD: -The voice acting. Still sucks, no offense. Tail's voice is horrible and so is Cream's. Whiny and irritable. The other voices are sub-par. The best voice, in my opinion, is Vector or Sonic or Knuckles.
-The enemies repeat a lot. They're not really varied or unique, unlike the enemies in SA2.
-The story. It's not as good as the other Sonic Adventure series.
-Frustration when switching team-mates. I hate that you can't change directly while in mid-jump or mid-fly. ARGH!
-The new look of checkpoints, items, etc. What happened to the original look? SUMMARY: Ever since I picked up Sonic Adventure 2: Battle when I first got my GameCube, I was hooked on the Sonic series. It was so much fun to speed around collecting items and blasting enemies. The same thing happened with Sonic Adventure DX, but I wasn't -as- impressed.

Now, Sonic Heroes adds a new flavor to the Sonic genre with new characters, graphics, levels, enemies and more. I am pleased with Sonic Heores, but would like to see other things added to it. For example, SA2:B had a great storyline, awesome boss battles and a terrific replay value (I still rebeat bosses and try to get all "A" emblems).

Sonic Heroes is a good game, though, and I'm not upset that I spent my fifty bucks on it. If you like hi-speed action of all the Sonic games, buy it. I like it. |

THE GOOD: Graphics are great but, when you play multiplayer it looks kind of weird. Multiplayer was okay. Single PLayer was okay. It was harder than the past 2 Sonic Adventure games.THE BAD: You mostly do the same thing most of the time. Sonic Adventure 1 and 2 had a good story, this game didn't IMO. In Sonic Adventure 1 and 2 you had different things to do. It doesn't feel like a real Sonic game. SUMMARY: Ok, this game was nothing like SA1 or SA2.Sonic Team brought new things in it, brought the good stuff out. IMO. I really liked using the Chao garden feature in Sonic Adventure 1, Sonic Adventure 2, Sonic Advance 1, and Sonic Advance 2 but, in this game it got rid of the Chao. Story wasn't good compared to Sonic Adventure 1 and 2. The graphics... are good but, when in multiplayer mode they're screwed up for no good reason. I expecting this game to be like Sonic Adventure 1 and 2 well it didn't happen. I don't know what Sonic Team did to this game but, I suggest you rent this game. |
