THE GOOD: ~Some of the best sonic games ever made ~16 bit graphics ~Music from the games are great ~Some funny comic strips ~Strange extrasTHE BAD: ~No Game Gear or master system games like the PS2 and X-Box version SUMMARY: I grew up playing these games so expect some over the top parts. OOOH YUMMY SONIC GAMES! These games have to be the best Sonics ever. Expect everything from Sonic 1 to Robotnik's mean bean machine. All these games are ports from the Mega Drive/Genesis. But they are still great and SEGA chose the best games for it. Sonic 1 is the original game with nice gameplay and graphics. Sonic 2 is better and faster. It introduces tails into the games. Sonic 3 has and save game function as the game is longer. Sonic looks better with improved graphics. Sonic & Knuckles is the best as you can play as Knuckles! It has some great levels. It also includes the Sonic 2 and 3 link feature like on the old console. Robotnik's mean bean machine is the old version of Puyo Puyo fever and plays the same. But it has sonic characters! Sonic Spinball isn't the best ever game as its really a strange version of pinball Sonic 3D is an isometric sonic game with hard levels Flicky is funny as you save the yellow flickies! And theres other secret games to unlock!
There is a view characters, comic covers and manuals section which gets kind of boring but you get one full comic with it.
This is a great buy and worth the money! Remeber your getting 7+ great games! |

THE GOOD: It includes Sonic 1
It includes Sonic 2
It includes Sonic 3
It includes Sonic and Knuckles
This compilation is a good replacement if you lost you old Sonic games or is your Genesis broke.
Bonus games that are unlockableTHE BAD: It includes Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine
They didn't update the graphics from the original version. SUMMARY: Difficulty: Medium
I got this compilation when I first got my GameCube. I used to play these Sonic games when I was younger and I still like them today. Games like Sonic 2 and 3 are are easy but fun. Games like Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine and Sonic Spinball are hard but not are very fun. Weird isn't it? Sonic and Knuckles is my favorite game in this compilation and Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine is my least favorite.
Do you have a broken Genesis or are you a Sonic fan who wants to see what the old Sonic games were like? Then buy yourself Sonic Mega Collection for GameCube or Sonic Mega Collection Plus for Playstation 2 or XBox.
I rate this compilation a 4.5/5 (9/10) |

sonic mega collection!! | 4.8 0 comments |

THE GOOD: Lots of my favourite sonic games from the mega drive everything is just the way it was in the old days. lots of extras.THE BAD: no sonic cd or knuckles chaotix could have been a bit better Nothing really SUMMARY: I Made an exception of getting this game for my step brothers gamecube because I really wanted to play the old sonic games again and couldn't find the wires to the mega drive/genesis. It's a great game for those who have lost their mega drives/old sonic games and want to relive the magic of the good old days of sonic. The only thing bad about it is there is no sonic cd or knuckles chaotix and I really wanted to try those out. And there is that thing about doing the original games a certain number of times to get extras but there is a way around that so that isn't as bad 0_< I'm glad they never changed nothing about the games, I don't know why but I feel that it would have been a mistake to make the graphics/sound better and the games would lose their feel.
In short this game is perfect for hardcore sonic fans like myself and those who want to relive the glory days of sonic. But not good for the people that were expecting a new game or who didn't like the past games. |

THE GOOD: Sonic 2. Perfect replacement for a broken/lost Genesis!THE BAD: It looks 10 years o... it is... It sounds 10 ye.... it is.. So basically, it IS 10 years old SUMMARY: This overjoyed me & angered me at the same time. Ya see, the only original games SEGA released for the GCN was Beach Spikers and Monkey Ball, and all the rest were 'updated' versions of past video games, such as the great SA : 2 and the bad-looking SADX. However, you might as well spend your money on your internet phone bill and download an emulator, as this is what it really is. Not to say it's not great in it's own right though.
Despite the disturbing lack of Sonic CD & Knuckles Chaotix, you have Sonic 1, 2, 3 & Knuckles. Not only that you have flippin' Spinball and Mean Bean Machine, Flicky & Sonic 2 & 3 with the inclusion of Knuckles. But I still can't help thinking they could've traded in odd-ball game Ristar in for Sonic CD.
At the end of the day, it depends on how much you like Sonic. If not, then you'll stay away from this game full stop. |

THE GOOD: Lots of fun and lets you see the past.THE BAD: I'll tell you down in the summary. SUMMARY: I have more fun in the extras section than the main game area. Plus, I've read in other reviews that you have to play a game 40-50 times to unlock a single hidden game. I just have fun playing the first few levels of every other game so it adds up to a normal level of a game. There is just one eetsy-beetsy problem, but you can find that out for yourself. Okay! Okay! I'll tell you some clues to find the eetsy-beetsy problem! Look into the game's protector. You can also find it on a numberical page. The number relates to a cloud. Finally, you can find this problem running on a piece of folded paper on Volume #153. Only true Spy Kids/James Bond/Sherlock/Mario fans can solve this! (Caution! If you find this problem and you are not age 12, DO NOT GET THE WRONG IDEAS AND DISCUSS THE PROBLEM WITH FRIENDS NEXT TO YOUR MOTHER OR FATHER!!!!! You'll just find yourself grounded.) Finally, WHAT THE BARNICLE IS SONIC CD?! EEEEEEEEE.... OKAY! I'LL TELL YOU! I'LL TELL EVERYBODY! I JUST KNOW ALL OF YOU ARE NOT EVEN GOING TO TRY THE PUZZLE! IT'S TAILS, OKAY??!! MILES TAILS PROWER! SONIC'S BEST BUDDY! THE GUY WHO CAN HOVER LIKE A HELICOPTER! THE EETSY-BEETSY PROBLEM IS THE WAY HE'S POSITIONED ON THE GAME COVER! HE LOOKS LIKE HE'S ADVERTISING FOR A..... YOU KNOW! A S..I. CL..! I'LL NEVER DO THIS PUZZLE THING AGAIN!!! [sigh] Well, the Sonic seiries has had this thing floating around them. The TV show, the music from the SEGA CD, and Sonic's various poses have gotten me suspecious that there is a ...... thing with the epic. I wonder why...... |

THE GOOD: the four, undoubtedly BEST Sonic games ever, Sonic 1, 2, 3, and Sonic and Knuckles. Some pretty cool extra features like Comic cover and some movies. unlockable Sonic 2 and knuckles, and Sonic 3 and Knuckles.THE BAD: hmm, well...lets start with the game collection. Yes, it does have our favorite 4 16 bit games, but wheres Sonic CD? or Knuckles Chaotix? which were very good too. and considering the majority of us haven't played those, and would like too, it would have been nice for them to make an effort to port them as well. Next, yes there are unlockable games that are somewhat decent, but you have to unlock them by playing the original games up to 50 times?? WHY? would it have been a better idea that if you finish one of the available games, THEN the new ones come through. I may LOVE Sonic 3, but I'm not about to play it 20-30 times, just to get Knuckles in it. third, what happend to the save features they added into sonic jam for sonic 1 and 2? that would have been great! not to mention the TONS of more features Sonic Jam had to offer. oh well.. SUMMARY: Well, overall, if you a diehard Sonic fan like me, I would get it regardless. It saves the trouble of digging out your genesis after all these years and blowing into the cartriges till they work. But, if your picky about your collections, and prefer to have EVERYTHING in one...this one is quite the dissapointment. Like I said before, its got some GREAT games, but just not enough to make it the "MEGA" Sonic collection. |

THE GOOD: Many classical games rolled into one! and, SONIC IS IN IT!! OHH YEAH!THE BAD: Nothing I can think of! SUMMARY: Notice the 'Mega' in the title of this game? Thats because its TRUE!! I love this game, it brought back so many memories of when I was 3 sitting in front of the TV watching my beloved Sonic...for gamers who have had old Sonic games on their Sega saturns, master systems, mega drives etc and lost them, have you ever got the feeling 'Man...why did my mum get rid of those...' well I for one, only forgave my mother recently when she recovered Sonic by getting this game Theres even special features, (songs and comic covers) If you miss Old Sonic, this game is definetly for you! They havent changed any of the magic features about it, just bright colours, simple music, great playable levels and good fun!! |

SMC - The Game | 5.0 0 comments |

THE GOOD: Well, just the fact that all the classic Sonic games are all in this game, which people will sure like;) Also, bringing these games back on GameCube, is pretty cool! For people who played Sonic games on their Genesis, this game is like a rewind of the past THE BAD: Well, the bad thing is, you'll have to play some games more then 50 times to unlock a bonus game.. That's it! , there isn't really a bad thing about this game.. SUMMARY: Like i said before, people who had a Genesis with Sonic games , will sure like this game;) Sonic & Knuckles, Sonic 2, Sonic 3, Sonic 3 & Knuckles, Ristar...they are all there in Sonic Mega Collection! Also, hardcore Sonic fans will like it. Step back into the past, and enjoy the classic Sonic games, once again! So enjoy!! :D:D

Not quite a Sonic Jam | 1.6 0 comments |
by Emerald Guardian from , , | Jun 6, 2003 |
THE GOOD: History, art, movies and my favorite genesis game, Ristar! THE BAD: This game isn't all that great. Sonic Jam was a whole lot better with the Sonic world, and Japanese commercials. This game does have the unexpected Ristar though. That's the only really good thing about it. SUMMARY: This game contains the genesis games, Sonic1, Sonic2, Sonic3, Sonic&Knuckles, SonicSpinball, Dr.Robotnik'sMeanBeanMachine, Sonic3DBlast, KnucklesinSonic2, Sonic3&Knuckles, BlueSpheres, Flicky & Ristar. It also has Archie covers, movies & art galleries. This game is really only good for Sonic newbies. Ristar is quite an exciting feature. Ristar's about a long-armed star that has to save his galaxy from an evil space pirate, Greedy. Ristar was created by SonicTeam's top character designer. Ristar was to be a rabbit character that was to be Sega's mascot instead of Sonic the Hedgehog. |

Great game, but with followers who obviously think they can break the rules of science... | 4.5 0 comments |
by JLX from , , | Apr 6, 2003 |
THE GOOD: All the classics...THE BAD: except Sonic CD, but did it ever occur to anyone that there might be a reason this game is not in it?? SUMMARY: Ok, just to clear everything up, sonic Team wanted Sonic CD, but of course, there is only a limited amount of space on these things, plus they got a lot of other stuff to do...like the other Sonic Games coming out for GC...and ther reason they don't have stuff like Sonic R and Knuckles Chaotix is because they were quite bad, and they're not 16 bit anyway...32 bit requires more space than 16 bits, which is why it would have been even more unlikely having one of these games instead of Sonic cD...they've given us over 10 games on one disc...how much do you people want???
Anyway, i tohught his game was pretty good..maybe its because I am as hardcore as sonic fans come, or maybe i jsut like the fact i got so much to do on one disc...either way i recomend this for people who have little or no patience... |
