THE GOOD:
The graphics and sound stuff was good. It was very challenging, too.

THE BAD:
It gets kind of boring sometimes, and some areas were too hard. I had to go through at least twenty times.

SUMMARY:
I'm not a big Star Wars fan (ever since I saw the gayness of the second movie), so most of the time I had no idea what the characters were talking about. They said to protect something, and I ended up blowing it up. But, enough of talking about my stupidity. The game had good graphics. Yes, it did. Very...good graphics. The voices annoyed me sometimes, and the other people kept asking for help. I don't like helping people! *acts grumpy* This game was very hard...or...at least it was for me, what with all the blowing up stuff I shouldn't. You get to use different shippy thingies, which is cool. I heard you can even fly a TIE fighter if you do some special thing. (See? I know at least one thing about Star Wars.) If you don't like Star Wars, don't get this game. If you do, then, you'll love this.

THE GOOD:
This game has really, really good graphics. I mean, how often do you see a ship at the ship selection screen and the ships have no visible pixels? I tried to see the pixels, but I didn't see any of them. Also, the ship selection is very cool, because you control a pilot who walks around and you go by the available ship that you want to fly in. Not to mention the awesome gameplay, and on some missions you play as Wedge Antilles. Sometimes there is an in-mission ship selection place, where you switch between two ships.

THE BAD:
To get to the bottom line, some levels are very hard.

SUMMARY:
One of the best things in the game is the part where you attack the Star Destroyer. The level is Razor Randevous and you are in the B-Wing,which has triple blaster cannons, an ion cannon, engines (as always), and twelve instead of twenty proton torpedos. There is also a targeting computer, which can see enemies and allies if they are behind something. Here are some of the ships that you are able to fly:X-Wing,A-Wing, the Snowspeeder, B-Wing, Y-Wing and lastly, the Millenium Falcon. Overall, this game is not only an awesome sequel to the original Rogue Squadron game but also to any gamer's game collection.

THE GOOD:
Amazing graphics
Good number of different ships to control
Mighty good soundtrack
Good combination of ground and space levels
A medal-system to boast replay-value

THE BAD:
Too few levels
Too hard gold medal demands
At times very frustrating

SUMMARY:
Graphics: Incredible explosions, laser-fire, ground-textures, it looks almost as good as the movies themself. A fair bit of slowdown, though, but nothing major.

Sound: Great explosion-sounds, tons of Star Wars tunes, some of them original, but they all sound brilliant. Good speech as well.

Gameplay: Lots of ships to fly, good control, varied missions (both on land and space), but insanely difficult at times, more frustrating than rewarding at those points.

Lifespan: Not that many levels, but many secrets to collect, the medal-system boasts lastability. No multiplayer-fun, which is a real pity.

Overall: Very impressive techically, but slightly flawed gameplay-wise.

THE GOOD:
Excellent graphics, Battle of Endor, realistic sounds, Battle of Endor, range of ships, Battle of Endor, and Slave 1. Did I mention Battle of Endor?

THE BAD:
Getting Gold Medals.

SUMMARY:
I must say, the levels based off the movie battles are excellent, such as the Death Star Attack, Battle of Hoth, Battle of Endor and Strike at the Core. It's extremely fun to fly down the Death Star trench, tie up AT-ATs and fight Star Destroyers head on. The Battle of Endor is very exciting as well, with the entire fleet surrounding you. I give it a 5 out of 5.

THE GOOD:
The sheer beauty of the game, picture perfect in almost every way.

THE BAD:
Far too short unless you're a hardcore gamer.

SUMMARY:
This game is what all Star Wars games should be like. You turn it on, see the dancing Stormtroopers, and know this is gonna be a great game.

The background music is a perfect balance of original tunes and Star Wars classics. You see the yellow text scrolling up the screen with the music playing in the background and you forget you're playing a game, it's a film.

Every level is perfectly designed, from the calm waters of Kothlis to the nebula in the Ison Corridor, the land, sky, and space are perfect.

The in game sound is almost all taken from the films, and it sounds it. The lasers sound no different from the trilogy, and your trusty R2 unit's beeping is just how detailed the game gets. The voice acting sounds a tiny bit odd, as it is a combination of soundbites from the film and all-new acting. Unfortunately they only got one original actor to do voices, but the others frequently vary from the original character, leaving you wondering who it was meant to be.

The main problem with this game is the replay value. While there are a lot of secrets in the game, many will give up or use codes to gain bonus ships and levels, because the task of getting gold medals on every level becomes monotonous, and when the result is only a few cheat codes away then it seems pointless labouring over the level. This is especially true with gaining the Naboo Starfighter. You have to complete the training mission, easily the most boring in the game, three times over before you can unlock it.

Overall, this game is good until you have silver medals on every level. Then labouring to get golds begins, at which point it loses its appeal. But definitely a great game for the first three-four weeks of play.

THE GOOD:

Graphics
Simply beautiful! The cockpit views are vividly re-created in astonishing detail straight from the movies. The targeting computer looks cool and is very useful! The levels look great and individual in their own way. The water looks great and realistic.

Sounds
Straight from the movies, what more can i say? Great voice acting even for Luke if its not Mark.

GamePlay
Fun and innovative, taking down an AT-AT walker never gets old. Flying through the core of the Death Star and battling through Hoth are only some of the many wonders of this game.

If you like Star Wars you should already have it.
If you don't you better run out and get it.

THE BAD:
Quite difficult

SUMMARY:
Extras
-never gets boring
-graphics are stunning
-lots of ships
-many secret ships
-tons of replay value
-many levels including some secret ones
-most levels are classics from the Star Wars universe
-targeting computer kicks ass

THE GOOD:
Stunning visuals, nice sound effects, easy enough controls

THE BAD:
Not much reply value, not many missions, getting all golds is frustrating

SUMMARY:
When you first play this game I guarentee you will be impressed. From the opening screen of the storm troopers dancing till you first try the first level of the game. The visuals will leave you in awe and talking control of the x wing on your first mission feels good.

After the initial awe wears off you'll find this an enjoyable game if frustrating at times. But the main problem is the life spam of it. It's not something you'll play over and over again.

It is deffinitely a game worth buying if you have a game cube especailly if your a star wars fan but it osn't something you'll come back to again and again.

GC  Star Wars Rouge Leader: Rouge Squadron 2 4.5

THE GOOD:
Graphics are good, sound is great, it's very fun, movie clips make the game like watching the movie.

THE BAD:
It's difficult!

SUMMARY:
A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away...well, you get the idea.

Star Wars Rouge Leader features many new things that make Little Debi look like a pile of puke. First off this Star Wars has a command feature which allows you to tell what you want your wing pilots to do using the control pad. Also, you can fly as Luke Skywalker or Wedge Antilles in X-Wings, B-Wings, A-Wings, Snowspeeders and more. Destroy the evil Empire throughout 11+ heroic missions taking you through Hoth, Cloud City, and The Death Star. This game is definitely worth buying and you should get it as soon as you see it.

THE GOOD:
Graphics - they will leave you in awe
Controls - easy to learn and master

THE BAD:
Lack of levels - Only a few levels
Replay Value - not much of it... pretty much a one-shot game.

SUMMARY:
When you first look at the game, you must immediately notice the graphics... it WILL make your jaw drop. Another game that uses the GameCube's graphics capabilities.

Controls also come into play... its basic simplicity makes it easy to master, and it'll become second nature using them when playing the game.

The lack of levels is quite annoying, with only a few secret levels. More levels would provide more replay value, but we only get that many...

Replay Value is also at a low, seeing as the shortage of levels help jack to it - it's only reinforced by the Medal System, but even that gets annoying, when trying to get the Golds.

Rent first, and see if you like it or not.

GC  Rogue Leader Is A Great Game. 3.0

by TieFighterPilot
from , ,

THE GOOD:
Graphics
Level Design
Sound
Ships
Internal Clock

THE BAD:
Lack Of Levels
Replayability

SUMMARY:
Rogue Leader is a great game. The graphics are what really shine.

The second you see Stormtroopers dancing and an explosion pulled directly from the movie, you can tell that it will be a great game. Suddenly a nicley animated menu shows up with short clips taken directly from the movie playing in the background in crystal clear color. When you open the level select screen, you can see the whole original trilogy in front of you. The levels include a Death Star Attack level, Battle Of Hoth level, Battle Of Endor level, and missions where their first objective is a frontal assault against a Star Destroyer. The level design is great and stays true to the films. Some levels can be When engaging a Star Destroyer, you can see that everything is in proportion. The lasers look great and create glowing reflections on surfaces as they pass by. the explosion are also cool. It is awesome to watch a flaming Tie Fighter spin out of control and explode.

The next cool thing is the sound. The game includes music taken directly from the movie. For example, while you fight hundreds of Tie Interceptors in the Battle Of Endor level, there is Battle Of Endor music playing. Or on the Death Star level, there is Battle Of Yavin music playing. It is really awesome to be piloting Luke's X-Wing dow the Death Star trench, listening to the suspenseful battle music as you prepare your proton torpedoes to fire into the exhaust port. The sound effects are also great, again using sounds from the movies. Lasers, ships, even explosions have been pulled directly from the movie.

The next cool thing is the hangar. Before starting a mission, you can run around the hangar, choosing the ship you want to pilot. Some of the new ships are the Slave 1 and Darth Vader's Tie Fighter.

The really cool thing though is the Gamecube's internal clock. Two of the levels in the game have different time settings. The Tatooine training mission can be played in a morning, afternoon, evening, or night setting. Another level can be played either during the day or night.

The downside to the game is the lack of levels and replayability.

There aren't that many levels, even with the secret levels that you can obtain. Replayability is at a low level because of this. You can get new ships and new levels by completing missions under certain times and getting a certian amount of kills. Some of the levels are cool, and include ones where you play as the Imperials and shoot down the Rebels. But replayability is still low. Partly due to the fact that the levels are short. You don't have time to fly around and explore becuase if your level objectives are not completed on time, you fail the mission.

There is no denying the greatness of the game though. It is a greatly designed game with excellent graphics and cool levels. Rogue Leader is definitely a great game.
