THE GOOD: The little Quarterback Challenge mini game, tight controls
THE BAD: Graphics are slightly fuzzy, computer gains a lot of yards on kickoff you only recieve a few, no play editor
SUMMARY: Ok now this game may not live up to the famed Madden series but it's still a worthwhile game to diehard NFL fans. The best part of the game is the little Quarterback Challenge mini game and the create-a-player option. The controls are tight and you get used to them fairly quickly. Unfortunately while playing the Quarterback Challenge game it gets tough. Trying to be somewhat quick and acurate when you have a few seconds to throw a ball using the yelow control stick while using the regular analog control to move is hard, then try pushing the button at exactly the right time. The game could really use a play editor, every footbal game nowadays has a create a player option. The graphics do get fuzzy at times which doesn't look good after seeing the other games for Gamecube. The create a player screen is great but some options are strange like selecting which chinstrap you want. While it sounds great you rarely see the chinstrap during a game. There are a few bugs too... if your player is behind the other team while running to the line you magically go through them and the AI on your side isn't very smart. The plays are usually the same no matter what team you use and all you get is variations of the plays to mix things up. All in all not a bad game, I wouldn't buy it unless you had no real choice like myself. ( Madden wasn't in stores yet! )
