THE GOOD:

-Crops
-Family Life
-Graphics
-Music & Sound Effects
-Overall Gameplay

SUMMARY:
Introduction
Harvest Moon Magical Melody is a fabulous game where you can create your very own farm and maintain it. In the game you will come across many different ways to make your farm better than the others! You will learn the many ways of the village, like fishing, and cookie delicious foods at your kitchen! You will also create your own life, where you can love the man/woman which appeals to you! As the game progresses the Harvest Goddess will slowly awaken, with the sweet tunes from the instruments that play the Melody of Harvest Moon. She, pure as ever, will bring back life, and the harvest sprites trust in you.

Animals
Having animals will make your Harvest Moon Magical Melody game better than ever. You can raise Cows, Chicken, Sheep, and horses. The Cows will produce Milk, the Chicken Produce Eggs, the Sheep will produce wool, and the Horses will produce infinate love. The animals can be purchased at many different prices, and will love you if you treat them with care and respect. I like there being animals in Harvest Moon Magical Melody because it is really fun to take care of them, and it makes the farm experience greater.

Crops
Vegetables and Fruit are considered crops on Harvest Moon Magical Melody! They are grown in many different seasons, and there are many different qualities of Fruits and Vegetables. The different Vegetables and Fruits available through seeds in the game are always changing on the store shelves as the seasons change. In the end you can sell your crops for money which later, can be used to purchase more seeds! I really enjoy watering, and fertilizing the soil to make my crops the best quality!

Family Life
As you progress through the game, you will eventually get lonely. You will most likely want to have a husband/wife to comfort you when you aren't feeling so good! You will feel the romance once you get married. You will not feel alone anymore either. Once you or your wife have a baby, your life will begin to become quite hectic! I really enjoy how the game allows you to have a family because the romance is really exciting and fun!

Graphics
The Graphics and Pictures in Harvest Moon Magical Melody are extremely good. They look really good from far away, and close up. The graphics are rather detailed and show alot about the item. The Graphics in this game also look quite realistic, atleast most of them do. I find the graphics rather nice, and I would rate them 9/10!

Music and Sound Effects
The Music in the game sounds really nice, and it never gets annoying. The music is rather nice, light, and happy music which makes the game feel really nice. The sound effects are also rather good, and it matches what you are doing. I find that the Music and Sound Effects are extremely beautiful, and I would rate them a 10/10

Overall Gameplay
The overall gameplay will last rather long, but it is really worth it to put a lot of effort into this game. It is extremely fun, and can be played over and over again with a unique style and flare to everything in the Game. Harvest Moon Magical Melody is definately an extremely good game, and I would recommend it to friends, and people that would like a new Gamecube Game!

THE GOOD:
- VERY interesting plot line
- Many festivals and items are unique to only this game
- Very large selection of marriage candidates
- Play as a boy OR a girl
- A good number of save spots, so you can play up to at least 4 games

THE BAD:
- Heavy lag

SUMMARY:
Plot~

It was a glorious day in the village when suddenly everything went wrong - the Harvest Goddess turned to stone!

After the love of nature has seemingly vanished, the Harvest Goddess has cast a spell on herself that can only be broken once you find 50 musical notes, hidden in events and good deeds around the town. It's up to you to beat Jaime to saving her!

This plot line is quite different from the other Harvest Moon ((HM)) games. You now have more of a purpose - collect the notes and free the Harvest Goddess ((HG))!

Graphics/Sound~

While these graphics do exceed those of FoMT and the like, they're not exactly as good as we saw in AWL/AnWL. However, the "chibi" like quality does give an interesting twist to the game, with bubbly animals and over exaggerated features for the characters.

The rain is like that of FoMT, which is constantly all day, rather than AWL's on and off weather.

The sound is, yet again, not as advanced as in AWL, but it does fit the chibi theme. A thing that was heavily missed was the thunder, which was realistic, yet absent in this game.

Building~

One of the best features of this game is the building feature.

You're able to upgrade your house, which is actually a requirement for marriage. The levels go up to level 5 ((I believe)) and become available after befriending Woody, Joe, or Kurt, the people who will be building your house. As you upgrade your house, the room gets wider and the house gets taller. You can have up to 2 floors, and the room gets quite large.

The worst thing about the second floor is you can't put your bed up there, which is disappointing if you wanted to make it a bedroom.

A great feature is the ability to buy more than one house! You can buy up to three, which will allow you to have different house for different needs. For example, if you have a house in the town and a house in the mountains, you might want to stay in the town house if you need to catch a shop early in the morning. But if you're planting crops in the mountains, you might want to stay in the mountain house. It's very convenient to have more than one!

More buildings include your chicken coop and your barn. The chicken coop cannot be upgraded, but the barn can! You can upgrade it once, giving you room for twice as many animals. But you may not purchase more than one of each.

Land~

Right beside Building on the scale of great features is the land feature.

When you begin, you have the choice of three plots of land. Depending on your needs, you'll choose one of the plots of land. The plot by the river is great for farming, but if you want animals, you'll need to buy the ocean plot later. The ocean plot can house both farming and animals, but the soil is bad. The village property is very small and can't house either, but you're closer to the village and the shops.

Aside from these three, there's plenty more! By befriending the Mayor, you unlock new plots of land around the town. Basically, any plot that isn't being occupied by a store, or will later be occupied by a store, is purchasable! Depending on the area they can run up to tens of thousands of dollars.

What's so great about this land? Living, of course!

If there's a certain spot that you like, you can move your house there! Go to the wood shop and request your house to be moved. This goes for any building, including your house, chicken coop, and barn. For instance, if you like living in the mountains, you can move all three of those buildings up there!

Marriage~

Here we go, the ever-famous marriage!

An excellent addition to this game is the quantity of marriage candidates. There are over 5 people to marry for both boys and girls, all with different personalities and different appearances. I'll leave it to you to find out about them, it should be a nice surprise!

Your husband/wife will never leave your first house. I mean, of course they'll walk around the town, and continue their daily lives, but if you have more than one house, they'll never live in anything except the original house!

Aside from that, you get a child again! That most disappointing aspect is that your child will never grow up. It sleeps in a crib, and you can either hold it, or let it crawl around!

Lagging~

The most disappointing aspect of this game is the lag.

I noticed that when walking past a large group of animals, such as the ranch or your barn animals, the game will lag and become very slow. But this is somewhat avoidable, and will usually go away within a few seconds of leaving the area!
Musical Notes~

The biggest part of this game is the recovering of Musical Notes! In order to free the HG, musical notes must be collected.

Some are hard, and some are easy! There are 100 notes in total, but you only need 50 to get the HG back! They range anywhere from putting something in the trash to shipping one of every fish.

Overall~

Overall, this game is one of the best HM games I’ve played. There are so many unique features and aspects of this game that it rarely gets repetitive. If I had to choose between all the HM games, I’d say this would be the first I get.

THE GOOD:
-The number of choices for your wife/husband [that's right, you can choose to be a boy or a girl.] There are 11 choices total.
-The ability to buy land. You can have more than one different properties.
-You can expand your house a lot, same with your barn.
-It reminds me of the older HM games. They brought back the old way to upgrade tools, houses, barns, and everything else.
-A pet pig. If you like pigs, it's good.
-You can buy furniture and arrange it how you like.

THE BAD:
-The graphics aren't up to par with A Wonderful Life, but they still look fine. It's only bad if you're a stickler for graphics.
-It's kind of hard to get money, but you can still make due with what you get.

SUMMARY:
I'd have to say this is one of the best HM games I've played in the series. If you like Animal Crossing, you'll probably like this game. A new feature I haven't seen before allows you to buy different furniture and arrange it how you like.

Starting: Starting is brutal. But eventually it's smooth sailing. If you're like me and like working for your stuff, then it'll be fun. You start out with a small house and NO barn, or chicken coop. :]
You have to buy your own. This is done with lumber and money. Like the older games, you need an axe to chop wood to get lumber. Thankfully you already have the tools you need.

From there you basically live on a farm.
You can expand your house to 5 different levels [not floors, you'll still have one floor]. You can expand your barn to hold a lot of animals. You can buy land and more than one house. You have 11 people to choose to be your wife/husband. You can have a kid of course, but it'll be boy. You can buy furniture, and lots of different kinds. It's endless. There's so much to do.

Festivals are also back. But some require you to donate a certain item before it happens, which is not that hard.

All in all, this game is very good. It's not that hard to learn, and can keep you playing for a while. I'd recommend it.
