THE GOOD:
-A lot of fun characters
-Good modes
-Sweet Story Mode

THE BAD:
-Strangely male selection (except for 18), but DBZ's fault
-Graphics are a bit weird
-OMG, tournament rings are killers
-Hard to get specific skill
-Boring after a while

SUMMARY:
I must say, this game intriguied me after first getting it a long time ago. It had great characters and an interesting story plot. But after a while, I noticed a few bugs, it seems, and most of the stages are the same. I recommend getting this game if you're a hardcore DBZ fan and do not already possess the other versions *cough* Budokai II and III. I liked DBZ and this game is a great way to learn about their moves. But it seems a lot of their attacks are the same... Or is it just Fighting-game paranoia? Story modes have some surprises, like the charging chapter during Saiyan Saga. Also, some attacks are funny (Hercule/Satan's ultimate move). It's easy to charge and use great attacks and transform to see blondies fight. xD But I mean, come on, why bother having 17 and 18 if they have identical attacks, speed, strength, and height? Yes, height is a great advantage if you're Krillin and easy to kill in the air with him while opponent is down. My friend killed my character by tripping me in the air and kept attacking the private area. I got KO'd as a result. But, I still recommend it even if I had more bad than goods.

THE GOOD:
Lots of characters, it follows like exactly in the DBZ shows, the controls are easy and it’s a great fighting game. Also, its much more fun to play on the GC version (IMO).

THE BAD:
Some of it gets extremely easy.. I mean, REALLY easy(once again depending on how often you play though), some of it gets boring, and of course, if it’s a fighting game, then its too boring with only one player.

SUMMARY:
For a first time Dragonball Z game, Budokai I must say is great. There are lots of modes to play, and you have the option of playing through a lot of different game modes. There is a story mode where you can play as the desired character and actually go through the entire DBZ storyline, you have a tournament mode, and there are also lots of other various methods of gameplay. Its fun to play because there are nice combos for every different character. That brings me to my next point, which is the gameplay itself.

Another, or should I say the main fun part about this game is the combo’s and other type of attacks. You are available to do certain attacks, like a punch button several times and tehn hit the energy button, which would trigger a special attack. Other than that, most of the combos and gameplay is pretty damn boring. When you play it a few times, it gets tedious because its mostly the same thing over and over again. But anyways, the music is pretty boring anyways, so its nothing really spectacular.. But anyways, it’s a great game to get because its really fin and addicting. I would recommend anyone to get it or anything because it’s a great game, and its really, really fun if you’re into the DBZ type of games.

THE GOOD:
The graphics are a little better than the ps2 version.

THE BAD:
Nothing different about the game except the graphics and the controls.
Breakthroughs are still a nightmare to get.

SUMMARY:
The graphics are better on this one it's like a cel-shaded normal graphics mix although i think it would be better if it was completly cel-shaded as it looks really nice on the other Budokai's. The story line is the same as the other Budokai on ps2 averege length with some cool extras. The most fun thing about the game again is the multi-player and the worst thing (again ¬_¬) is getting the Dragonballs and Mr. Popo still does my head in. The music is once again the same and just averege. The voices are still Japanese with subtitles which they really should have changed. I give the game about 84% as it isn't much better than the ps2 version.

THE GOOD:
You can be your favorite dragon warriors

THE BAD:
The game is boring

SUMMARY:
I'm a fan of the dragon ball z series. I thought I'd love this game even if it wasn't the best fighting game around. But I was wrong. I played the game for two hours and then was completely bored with it. I thought maybe if I get better at it I'd like it more so I kept playing it but still, I'd rather read a book. The story mode was showed some promise with cut scenes followed by battles, but it was like 15 minutes of talking followed by a bout 20 seconds of fighting. You think they'd be able to put alot in those 15 minutes of cut scenes but they really weren't very good leaving anyone who isn't familiar with the story totally out of the loop. If you really want this game, wait untill you can buy it used for $10 because $30 is way too much for such a lack of entertainment value.

THE GOOD:
Everything if you are a fan of the series you will love everything of the game you can become super saiyen 1 and 2 its the greatest thing for a Dragonball Z fan.

THE BAD:
Only that the button cambinations can be difficult sometimes to get them right on time but won't be anything once you get used to it

SUMMARY:
The story mode is nice and fun can be sometimes tricky but nothing a bit of practice can't overcome further the graphics, the sound, the gameplay and the replay value is perfect for the fans they will really eat this game up its a whgreat game for everyone who is a bit interested in Dragonball Z. The ones who hate it should not buy it and the one who find Dragonball Z oke and not to great they should give it a good thought. Further the fans should now directly go and buy it if they not already own it. IT'S GREAT!!!

GC  Xion350's Review for "Dragon Ball Z: Budokai" 1.0

Ok im going to review this game and if i do say something bad about it it doesnt mean you wont like it. It is just my opionon.

About: Dragon Ball Z: Budokai or DBZ:B is a port from the PS2. Now ive never played it and from what ive heard they are about the same. Well a friend of mine told me that it was a cool game. Well unfortantly i was very disapointed....

Graphics: 9.0

Now i wont lie here.....The graphics on this game are absolutly fabulous. It is a almost perfect vr of the anime.

Gameplay: 3.5

The gameplay isent all that great....You fight one person, move on to the next after a hour of cutscenes(excaterating for you dumbnuts out there). It just isent that great. I mean why not fly around and walk around before your next fight? Like DBZ: legacy of goku.

Controls: 2.0

The controls are clumsy and akward. It is way to hard to pull off a more diffcult move. Almost impossible to block when i want to block. You can of course customize controls....but it doesnt help much.

Story: 5.0

Not much of a storyline....This game really focuses on the fights, it only gives you enough informaton to know why your fighting this guy. Thats about it....

Replay Value: 6.0

If you have a few friends and maybe some drinks and chips you might be able to play for a couple of hours. But after that it gets boring....Tourny adds to some replay value with more diffuculty levels.

Originality: 5.0

Basicly a generic fighting game spashed with DBZ juice. Not much else.

Overall: 4.7

I wouldent really recomend this to a friend myself. But really im more used to the arcade style fighting games like Mortal Kombat, Soul Calibur, and Tekken. Maybe im spoilt. But anyway you can get it if you want. But like i said i wouldent recomend it unless you are just a die hard DBZ fan and have every DBZ game ever made.
