THE GOOD: Addicting, Pretty Good StoryTHE BAD: Relativley Everything else SUMMARY: Normally, I write pretty long reviews. Games like this, however, have no reason for that. This game sucks hard. The graphics are horrific, making it look like a PlayStation game for this generation. The soundtrack is very repetative, and every enemy sounds and dies the same. The action is very easy; hold down a button and watch people die. Make your way to the end. Repeat for a long time. But in the middle of the first level, you'll wonder why you spent the money on this piece. Unless you love doing this stuff. I know I spent alot of time leveling up my character for no particular reason. The game is that easy. There are diffrent characters, but they really don't differ. Each does the same thing. The only real good thing about this game is the story, and even that's not that good.
All in all, you should be ashamed that you even had to read this review. Alot of people love this game, but there is no reason. It blows. Hard. |

Not the Best Game Out There | 3.2 0 comments |

THE GOOD: Fun Multiplayer Leveling up characters is fun Many different levels
THE BAD: Not very good replay value Poor graphics too easy (even on hard)
SUMMARY: If you're looking for a game that will provide you with a fun multiplayer game and some 10 or so hours of gameplay, then this game is for you. If you're looking for a game that requires lots of skill along with knowledge and challenging puzzles...then look elsewhere. This game isn't too bad, however it is pretty much straight forward through levels and takes no skill whatsoever. If you liked the N64 version, then you'll like this version too (seeing as how they are pretty much the same game!). This game will provide you some fun for a day or two but as soon as you beat it, there's no point playing it again. |

THE GOOD: It's multiplayer.THE BAD: Where should I begin? The graphics make it really really difficult to see where you're going and what you're fighting. It's pretty boring, too. It's just constant running around killing, well, whatever. It's really easy to get tired of. It's basically a first-person shooter, and I HATE first-person shooters! SUMMARY: Really, don't even waste your money on this game! Don't rent it, and certainly DO NOT buy this game! The graphics are not even good enough for a N64. It could've done a lot better when it came to grahics, really. There was so much potential because it was on Gamecube, but it completely blew it! Gameplay was heck. I only could stand doing about two levels and I was already sick of it! You start off with only two moves and never seem to unlock more. It's incredibly repetitive. If it wants to be a multi-player cooperative game, it really should've been more like Four Swords on GBA where you cooperate to solve puzzles and compete at the same time. If this game does come out with a sequel, it should go to X-Box. It's not worthy of the Gamecube logo. |

THE GOOD: Graphics, easy controls but can be very difficult, has a multiplayer, and has a story line!(unlike the Gauntlet on the first Nintendo)THE BAD: A little too hard(can be frustrating)There's really nothing bad about it except the difficulty. SUMMARY: The evil mage Garm has scattered the 13 runestones to the corners of the earth. You have to collect them because without them you cannot transport to where Garm is. You have to hack and slash your way through 60 dangerous levels. The only help you have is 30 awesome power-ups, ranging from different weapons to sheilds. The multiplayer is awesome! It's 1-4 player cooperative action. It also has many exclusive features that make this game perfect. There's an expanded inventory system, stereo sound, higher resolution graphics, and brand-new power-ups available only on the Nintendo Gamecube making it the best Gauntlet ever. Thank you Midway for this fantastic game. As I always so "Midway gets better every day!" |

First off, if you are not a fan of the slash and hack genre, chances are you will not fully enjoy this game. The graphics are, sad to say, a little weak, and the game looks only slightly better than playstation. The framerate in the tower (equivalent to a world map) seems slower then anywere else in the game even though there is very little action going on here. Your personal info (life, gold, # of potions, # of keys and level), found at the bottom of the screen is really to little to see. The gold and life stand out fine, but I often found myself squinting to make out the number of keys and potions, and often when I thought I had 7 potions left, I really only had 2. The inventory is also somewhat lacking- You use the control pad to navigate through the inventory, something that can take a little time, especially while in the middle of a boss fight. Speaking of boss battles, they too could have been better. There is no boss life bar, so there is never any telling how well you are doing. Also, very little stratagy is used on them. Its more like shoot, run, shoot, run... Now dont get me wrong, I love this game. It is pretty lengthy, and after beating it, theres always the fun in going back and rebeating it with the other 7 characters, not to mention the additional 8 hidden characters, which can be unlocked by finding the mazes hidden in the different levels and then collecting all of the coins before time runs out. Then there is the feature of fully building up your character. Every 10 levels (the exp-gained kind) your character's appearance changes somewhat, and then ever so often, they are upgraded past appearance, like gaining familiar to aid you. Another perk is that each character has 4 different colors (red, blue, yellow, green), but changing color doesnt just mean different clothes color, but a fully different appearance, from clothes to skin color. This feature allows 4 players to play as the same character while not getting confused. And finally, coming to the multiplayer. I feel that this game is really best with 2 players, because when playing with more then 2, there is really too much action on screen, and it gets VERY confusing. Overall this game is good. The problems can be overlooked and adjusted to, and it is long enough to keep you from feeling cheated. The bottomline is that most people can enjoy this game, but only true Gauntlet diehards (like myself, still playing the original TENGEN version on my Nintendo) can love it. |

THE GOOD: This game rocks beyond reason. The graphics are awesome, the characters are cool, the plot is excellent, there are so many choices on characters and game options including like a billion secret characters. THE BAD: If there had to be a bad, it would be the length of the levels. you have to play a level for like 10 or 15 minutes to get through it, and if you miss a rune stone or something like that, you have to go back and do the whole thing over again. SUMMARY: This game is a must own! Honestly, i thought that they couldn't top the N64 Gauntlet legends, but they did it with flying colors. The plot is so much mor expanded and it just adds so much to it. I say this is an awesome game and i give it a 10 out of 10. |
