"Since the core of the game is racing, after all, and not purchasing cars and parts, I can't say I recommend investing in 4x4 Evo 2. Only the most mouth-frothingly fantatical 4x4 devotee would be rewarded by what it has to offer."
4x4 Evo 2 is a boring, lackluster racing game. Sure, the old adage "beggars can't be choosers" comes to mind, as the Gamecube has fewer racing games than the XBox has AAA titles, but that's no excuse for the mediocrity found within.

"It may be the first off-road racing game on the GameCube, but 4x4 EVO 2 is hardly representative of the best of what the genre has to offer."
"4x4 EVO 2 is a below average racing game with several major flaws. Although it tries to introduce a few original elements into the racing genre, the lack of polish and poor execution ultimately make the game fall short."
"Overall, 4x4 Evo 2 is painfully average. The gameplay is free of anything special that demands some playtime. For the hardcore of off-road racers, you can’t go wrong. In the end though, you’ll find a solid engine and some added graphical touches, but nothing particularly impressive. "
